The problem is our debt based fiat monetary system. Inflation taxes poor and middle class and allows government to get huge funded by inflation, and swells asset prices of the wealthy. The rich get richer and poor get poorer. The solution is to end federal reserve, outlaw fractional reserve lending, and go back to gold and silver money. Stop inflation to stop the theft and shrink government.

"Oliver Anthony really does punch down on the poor. The lives of ordinary working people are being torn apart by the rich, he laments, but we can fix it if we cut welfare - and taxes too. Listening to the lyrics in that context, I came to understand why the song had gone viral among rightwing figures in the US. It’s a classic example of the divisive narrative that bosses have used to pit worker against worker since the days of Joe Hill. If the poor are fighting one another over racial hierarchy or cultural grievance, their anger will be directed away from the people responsible for their plight - the rich who exploit those in work and abandon those in need." Billy Bragg 2023

@DjWellDressedMan you need to listen to it again. He isn't punching down on the poor, he's pointing out the corruption in the system and the misuse of welfare. Why should his overtaxed dollars go to pay for the obese to milk the system or a 5'3" / 300lb lazy person scarfing down fudge rounds while he works himself into an early grave? He's just pointing out what we all see. This song isn't a right wing anthem, it's a heartfelt call from the soul of the people. That's why it's gone viral, He's speaking the truth.

Revelation..... Distractions, Redirections using Reinforcers to keep The People in compliance. The world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, it's very brightly colored, it's very loud, and it's fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, "Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." ~ Bill Hicks ~

My husband cried to this song! He’s a hard working man, and we have two new children. Trying to buy a house in the middle of drowning in this economy has caused so much financial stress. We’re there for each other and I help as much as I can, handling all our finances and trying to find a remote job to do while preparing for homeschooling. I can’t help but feel what he feels, and to know that everyone else feels this way too is heartbreaking. I’d say it’s time for a revolution, but as long as everyone feels like they’re drowning by themselves, nothing will be done. This song is bringing us all together, helping us realize we’re not alone, we’re not doing something wrong. It’s the government fucking us all while telling the working man he’s racist, homophobic, transphobic, bigoted and toxic. Everything is beating down the blue collar man. If we just punched back…

@@donjackson5522 I agree! In this economy I’ll definitely have to do some kind of work. As much as it stresses me out, I’ve considered taking in a couple kids of my working mother friends to babysit for money. And Greg’s job is a bit restrictive since it’s so physically demanding, he can’t physically do the job for more than 12 hours a day. I don’t wish that for him anyways. None of the elders in our family understand the truth of the economic situation, and have all refused to take us into their big empty homes, as much as they love us and talk about how they don’t see their grandchildren enough. We asked for one year, of paying half of their tiny mortgage, so that we could save up instead of paying 2k rent. Then we could get a house. But they’ve resolved that they want their alone time and aren’t entitled to help us. It’s probably because we’re not Christian, and we don’t parent how they did. That’s fine, that’s they’re choice. But now we’re drowning, and will be until this economy collapses. And then what? I hope it means we can afford a home and we won’t be affected. But will it affect his job, the jobs of my friends? There’s so much to worry about right now. It’s been hard staying away from alcohol and CBD, cause we know that in our current states we’d end up abusing both and avoiding the problem. We need to live through this stress for the sake of our kids.

If the poor are fighting one another over racial hierarchy or cultural grievance, their anger will be directed away from the people responsible for their plight - the rich who exploit those in work and abandon those in need." Weeding the soybean fields, pulling up potatoes and peanuts because if I didn't my family couldn't eat. I feel like I never fully felt how hard it was until this song and it hit me like a brick wall. Without a middle class, those with will completely trod down all of us withouts. We must maintain a buffer between these two variables or we will loose all of of liberty. As a veteran and a father of 4 young men, this song shut me down. It broke open emotions I normally don't have to deal with. I fear for my sons entering this nation as adults in a time where they are blamed for every ill just because they are men. Truth speaks to truth, and this one hit me hard. I make more money at this point in my life than I've ever made before, and less to show for it than ever. The cost of everything has at least doubled. My work gets harder, responsibilities get deeper, and the rewards for it continue to diminish. We're at a time when we're more focused on mutilating children to suit their parents' polilitical ideology than we are on addressing the rates of suicide in veterans and young men. Our priorities are way off.

It's so nice to see Oliver discussing this song longform for 18 minutes on his own personal channel and being such a down to earth person. Amazing how insanely fast tens of millions tried to politicize the song and he shut it down. We need more people like Oliver.

Grew up listening to rap but been dipping into country for the past year or so. This song is one of, if not, the greatest piece of music I’ve ever heard. This comes right from the soul, even in a small coastal town in England this hits hard

You could make this fit your country fairly easily too. Just change it to Rich Men East of Bristol. Still fits the meter and rhyme scheme. Maybe change Fudge Rounds to a snack cake or something from the UK too.

This is one of those songs that isn't just an anthem for america. This is a world shaking anthem. This one of those gems in the rough that has caused more people to come together instead of dividing us. The amount of passion he shows as he belts his heart out grasps everyone's attention as nothing else in the music media today shows this level of emotion. But above all this is a song that everyone can relate to. We're all in the same boat here in america and we're the only one's that can fix this and come together as americans. Screw being divided. We need to work together to fix what is wrong in our own country and our own lives.

this guy Oliver was a bit of a troubled soul dealing with depression and other similar mental ailments and alcohol issues. then one day it just broke him and brought him to his knees. he was never really a religious man but he made a promise to God that he would go sober if He helped him fulfill his dream. about 30 days later he had a friend invite him over to make a video to upload and this was the song recorded. as with about about 1-2 days of release he's blown up faster than a fat man at cracker barrel buffet. John Rich has already tapped him and offered to help him produce an album and i think a contract was offered as well. still catching up to the info on this guy a bit.

This song speaks to the forgotten man, huh? I tell ya, I felt that song. About the 5ft 3in, 300 lbs line, I have complained about that very thing so often. I can't believe we have to (blue collar) go by a budget to get by, barely have enough to buy what you need, much less what you want, and there will be these huge ppl blowing hundreds of dollars of our tax dollars on buggies full of junk food. Lately, w/the ever-rising food prices, it royally ticks me off. (Oh, I see Brian understands) 😁 Looking forward to the review of Tom and Adam's new song... EPIC! (I'll set a reminder to look out for it in my noggin) Love you guys, keep humping. ❤

You're FAR from awake if you think that 'presidents' have any power. They have NO power. It's all a huge game of fooling the public by having 2 'sides' play off each other and has been that way for countless decades. That's how they have gotten ahead decade by decade for longer than we've been alive. Do you not really notice that when in office Bushes hate Clintons and Obama, and vice versa, yet when1 day out of office they are all 'best buddies'. That's the game! ANY president that even tries to go against them will end up like JFK within a few months and certainly won't live longer than 2 years of his 4 year term. No amount of agents could protect a president. Presidents haven't called the shots ever since the presidency was fully controlled after JFK's demise, which was 60 years ago. You need to understand the very powerful UNelected 'cartel' that has been pulling the strings of all presidents for over the past 6 decades. Understand how they built up that incomprehensible power by studying how the 1913 Federal Reserve was created, along with all their other global institutions. The 'cabal/cartel' of very powerful players tried this same takeover back in 1935, but thankfully it was thwarted by General Smedley Butler. He was their key man and they thought he could be trusted to do their evil deeds, but he spilled the beans on the entire plot. Not much different operation that what's happening today.
