Just the Bufalino name carried a lot of weight in the 1970’s early 80’s in Michigan. Attorney Bill Bufalino 2nd, represented a neighbor who got caught firebombing a house and got his charge dropped after probation!

Russell Bufalino was in the class of Charles Luciano, Tony Accardo, Frank Costello and Santo Trafficante. A bar above the rest. He basically controlled 6 territories in these cities Buffalo, Philadelphia, Las Vegas Pennsylvania, Miami and NYC. Made Millions for all his partners! May God richly bless everyone 🇮🇱✝️🇺🇸!

When I saw this movie I thought of my grandparents on my dad's side and my mom's side. Once one survived Hitler's Germany and started all over again. And one survived the Great Depression. This is a very very awesome movie I have a friend of mine who is from Philadelphia about Russell Buffalo and he's his eyes lit up like Christmas trees. You know about Russell Buffalo from what I told him he was one of the most quietest mob bosses. And that's what makes him fearful

Russell Bufalino was a very well respected and low key mob boss of a small family in Pennsylvania. Sometimes he would weigh in on certain situations with the commission and other five families of NYC. And he had ties to the Detroit Family because of his pull and influence with the Teamsters Union and Trucking. And also with the Philadelphia Family because his family was located in the same state and they had dealings together. He was not anywhere near as powerful as the film made him out to be though and "all roads did not lead back to Russell" especially in the 1960's and 1970's when the mob was in it's heyday in America.

He punched well above his weight though. Especially considering he wasn't even based in a real city. The power he did accrue was a testimony to his own craftiness, he didn't just step into a thriving concern. Anyone else from a third or fourth tier city like Pittston would have been absorbed or just killed off. Pittston didn't turn into Youngstown. Bufalino really is one of the more interesting characters.

@@FrithonaHrududu02127 I agree and I find Bufalino interesting as well. He did hold a lot of sway given the smaller city and family he ran. I just think the Irishman made him sound like the top mob boss in America or something.

@@STONESGAM I get what you mean. From Sheerhan perspective he was, cuz he met everyone through Bufalino. Plus it was Sheerhans way of blowing himself up, he was such a fabricator. I've always found the smaller families interesting. Like the one ones from Rochester or Utica. But they all got sucked into bigger cities vortex. Or just destroyed themselves. Bufalino managed to avoid all that. But yeah Sheerhan had a vested interest in making Bufalino larger than he was, but I have a feeling that he was actually right but by accident, y'know.

Not a lot of people know Charles Luchiano got his business started with a loan from Frank Sheeran and when Charlie missed a repayment Frank went easy on him saying "Lucky for you I'm in a good mood" hence the lifelong moniker. And for most of Frank's career his driver was John Gotti, a little street punk orphan Frank found crying in the gutter, Frank cleaned him up and gave him a start in life; another fact is the entire Corleone family (except Fredo) is based on Frank Sheeran.

Wrong; Goodfellas was happening at the same time and after, as the story progressed, regarding the Gallo-Profaci/Colombo war.

True. What The Irishman adds is explaining the connection between the Mafia and the Teamsters. That is important to know when watching Casino. I see Goodfellas, The Irishman and Casino as a trilogy.

He was very powerful, even more than the movie betrayal. Read the book the linear chose it tells everything. He owned a restaurant in New York did business in the territory of the five families. That’s unheard of.
