    I always thought that there always was another hero before Skyward Sword Link, but that this Link was the first hero to win against evil. I still like the interpretation that Skyward Link is the ancient hero, because Zelda is an incarnation of Hylia, and we've got a bit of a Back to the Future thing going on, like how Marty tells his mom (who thinks his name is Calvin Klein) that his name is actually Marty. She seems to like the name enough that she ends up calling her second son Marty in honor of the guy who helped her and George get together. Zelda/Hylia makes Link a sailcloth because that's what is in the old stories, but it's in the old stories because Link goes into the past with that very same sailcloth. 2:41 2:41

Edit: so that the comment doesn't keep coming up, the confusion on where Botw/TotK falls in the timeline, and because Skyward Sword is "the first legend of Zelda", but it's not the first Link, so Legend of Hylia would be clearing all that up.

    Here's my theory, since Nintendo never really goes into detail about him. Fierce Deity Link is the 1st hero. As Demise says, no MAN has ever stood against him. I think that Demise defeated Fierce Deity Link in an epic battle, and due to his fall, Hylia trapped Demise and sent the Hylians to the sky until Fierce Deity's reincarnation returned to battle again. The master sword is forged from Fierce Deity Link's blade. Those are my thoughts anyway, as Deity is God-like, so it would make sense that he could fight for Termina in MM as well. That would give all 3 reincarnations of the triforce a deity to match them. Just my opinion. If some spelling is off, I apologize.

    Look, I was already finding Hylia funny in the manga because it seemed that she was in love with Link, like, a goddess and a human, but now with this theory from these people there who talk about the Fierce Deity and that he could be the first hero and maybe Link was his reincarnation, I thought even more about it, that Hylia was in love with him (but that maybe they couldn't be together because... they were divinities maybe?), but when he died, she made him reincarnate in a human body and so was she and after that they ended up being together when they became human. Not that she (the one in the game in question) was, it was just a thought I had because of the manga and this theory, because I found it even funnier after I saw the manga. A goddess and a human, now it's a goddess and a deity who became human and got together in the end. I found this funny and hilarious lol. But seriously, I found this so funny and so interesting this theory that from today I ship Hylia and Firce Deity, which would be something like Link and Zelda. Very hilarious that, Link x Zelda and Hylya x Fierce Deity lol.🤣

    This is an excellent theory and I personally would like to see it implemented. To keep the timeline open for further installments. As for the theory on the shield. Because I’m a huge fan of the Fierce Deity, that’s something I personally like to think about when it comes to “The First Hero”. I acknowledge that this is not likely to even have an inkling of truth to it since FD is from Termina and is tied to the people there (possibly even Hylia’s counterpart), but that doesn’t stop a part of me from creating a story in my head where the Fierce Deity, or someone who becomes him, is the ancient hero that people talk about in Skyward Sword. It’s entirely self-indulgent and can probably be shot down by evidence and other stuff, but it’s kind of a brainchild I like to think about 😅

  • @Tomky54

    @Tomky54

    Жыл бұрын

    Is the FD linked to Termina though? Because it's given to you by the child wearing the Majora's Mask and that mask was in posession of the Happy Mask Salesman so I assume that the Mask of Majora existed in Hyrule therefore the FD existed as well. All the other masks can be ruled out to exist only in Termina because they are given to you by the inhabitants but i think that Majora's and the Fierce Deity could be canon. Sadly, i don't think we'll ever see the FD or his history outside of Majora's Mask 😔

  • @fidgetthecrazy

    @fidgetthecrazy

    @@Tomky54 I don’t expect any more FD content from the LoZ canon, either, but seeing a spin off would be so cool. But I remember one of the people at Nintendo saying that FD is the embodiment of all of the memories from the people of Termina, so that’s why I say he’s linked to Termina. But honestly, FD is just full of mystery in general because of how it’s given to you (by the antagonist), and how little we know about it.

    Link was Hylia's chosen hero for THIS plan. In-game lore from Skyward Sword says she had to sacrifice her divinity to achieve this as a last resort to end Demise, since her status as a goddess wouldn't let her use the power of the Tri-Force. So in the past, all she could do was lead simple warriors in a quest to defeat Demise which, obviously, ended up in that warrior/"hero"'s defeat. When she embraced mortality, she was able to aid our current hero (Link) directly and personally, greatly increasing his chances of success. She also knew that as a mortal, she would not be able to harness the full power of the Tri-Force alone, hence why she needed a "hero" for this plan to work. Fi is an AI "sealed" in the sword handed down from "hero" to "hero" which gathered all kinds of data from ancient times and adventures, which in turn gave Link more information than the previous wielders. So basically, Fi had enough knowledge to give Link the proper support needed to overcome every trial this time. Now, notice that there weren't any "Link", "Zelda" or "Ganon" before. This now-endless cycle of strife and rebirth begins with Demise's curse, forcing all 3 to to be reborn in any moment in time, together, to fight over and over again. So before Skyward Sword, there was no Link, only "heroes" that ultimately failed to slay Demise, but going as far as being able to seal him. Not to mention the armies that helped with this feat. Also, Hylia was a goddess to many things but there actually was a society that prayed to her for blessings and whatnot. And the inhabitants of Skyloft are the successors of this society. They were the "lucky ones" to be sent to the heavens by Hylia in a last attempt to protect her people (that's why they're called "hylians" and after the founding of Hyrule, they were also called "hyruleans") The "legendary Hylian shield" must have belonged to warriors styling their shields after imagery of the goddess, which was later used as Hyrule's coat of arms, but, like in pretty much every nation's history, the origin was lost and it merely became "a crest of the royal family". So to summarize, Skyward Sword tells the origin story of this trio: the hero, the goddess, and the villain. But there definitely was more war and struggle before, in which case, if Nintendo tried to make a game of those times, it wouldn't be a "Legend of Zelda" properly speaking since there was no Zelda, Link, or even Ganon. PD: Girahim summoned normal bokoblins since he called them from his own time. Edit: I've noticed a lot of people saying Link was "the chosen hero" from the beginning, but Zelda apologized to him for "pulling him into all of this". So basically Hylia thought Link was a good candidate when she witnessed his deeds through the eyes of Zelda, and that's why he started having nightmares at his current age rather than earlier. Hylia was ready to involve him in her plan. Also, people think Link was his own predecessor but his time travel took him to a time after Demise was sealed, so "tales of his deeds" would only be "he destroyed Demise" since he appeared in that brief moment and never adventured in the past. And one last thing: Tears of the Kingdom can't be a prequel because in Breath of the Wild, Urbosa mentions that "Calamity Ganon once adopted the form of a Gerudo" and that Naboris was named after Nabooru "Legend of the Gerudo, celebrated over the years". My theory? Probably the floating continent in the upcoming game will be the ruins of Skyloft, or a mechanism that will make a huge mass of land float as Skyloft did, but without the help of Hylia's power... or maybe with it? Zelda was in the caverns where they found Ganondorf's remains, she probably activated said mechanism. We'll never know until we play it. I NEED TO PLAY IT!

    Thank god I absolutely despise the SS paradox theory to justify the references to a previous hero in the early game. Because even removing the time shit from the equation there is no way anyone on ancient skyloft could’ve heard of the Link we see in SS after he goes back in time. BECAUSE SKYLOFT IS ALREADY IN THE SKY. (As one could observe the fresh, telltale indent of where the sky keep once sat in the sealed grounds still being present.) Nobody is left on the surface to see him at all, let alone know anything about what he did. (Save for Impa, though it is safe to assume she has no way to reach above the cloud barrier or communicate with anyone on skyloft) This makes his story being passed down through generations on Skyloft to eventually reach him and Zelda in the present virtually impossible. The fact that literally not a SINGLE theorist, Zeldatuber, or any other kind of lore enthusiast has made this connection thus far both baffles and enrages me to no end. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

    Link is the fierce deity and vice versa, he is the collection of an entire kingdoms goodwill that one single person did. Link helped them, solved their problems, soothed their hurts; and did it all out of the kindness of his own heart. When Link puts on that mask it's power changes him into a demon of protection. That mask represents the power and drive one can aspire to have when you must protect something that you love and cherish. This doesn't make him a god or any being of higher power. But a spirit born only to defend that which cannot defend himself. Some dude did a great video on it actually and he's made a good case for it too. I like you're idea too.

As well as Aonuma indicating that a game could come before SS. Despite some things that happen in the manga that people will point out, I do genuinely believe that the prequel manga is canon. Another stipulation for the chronology. Link does not travel to the time of the _ongoing_ war between Hylia and Demise. He travels to some time after it's _conclusion_ with Demise's sealing. Skyloft was sent into the sky when the demon tribe was an active, valid threat that warranted refugee movement. And had no contact with the world below. And if neither Link, Zelda, or Impa was able to influence Skyloft in the past they traveled to, then how could it have been they who sparked the myth surrounding the sailcloth and the chosen hero? It had to originate from somewhere.

    To be fair, is it not possible that due to the time loops in Skyward Sword that the sailcloth tradition technically originated from Zelda and Link? The timeline splits multiple times due to traveling through the time gates. An unaltered timeline, a present time where Zelda & Link use the Triforce to completely destroy Demon King Demise, and the past where Ghirahim used Zelda to revive Demise only for Link to slay him with the Master Sword. Perhaps because of the current traditional sailcloth ceremony is how Hylia found her first hero. There is also the possibility that there were some Hylians that stayed to fight alongside the goddess, one of them likely being an ancestor of Skyward Sword’s Link. Time travel really does make things extremely complicated and really confusing.

    There is no time loop in SS. No event in the game happens more than once, so we can safely rule that out as just a fan theory. Also the Tree of Life quest kinda disproves that idea as well.

    I thought that Hylia happened across a warrior that she fell in love with and used her powers to make sure he’d reincarnate with her when she chose to become mortal. He wielded the Goddess Sword in her name. And would continue to do so in their future to finish Demise. Then Demise just cursed all 3 of them to keep fighting until the end of time. After that, their souls reincarnate ever few hundred years when Demise (or another evil) makes his return. It was Hylia’s way of remaining with her champion to protect her land, the Triforce, and her people. It’s a love story that spans across time. And sometimes it doesn’t go the right way. See the Child Timeline where Link married Malon. But he did still fight for Zelda, but likely never rose through the ranks to be recognized as the boy that helped her stop Ganondorf when they were kids. Or the Fallen Timeline where Link straight up died.

    The legendary shield is named after the goddess Hylia, not the land of Hyrule. Therefore, Skyward Sword implies that the shield came first, and Hyrule simply created shields that referenced the Hylian shield to honor the goddess that the kingdom was named after (similar to how they decorate everything in Triforce iconography). ...or Nintendo's profit model is based on nostalgia and its recognizable IP's, and the Hylian shield ticks both of those boxes.

    I see they've taken a page from final fantasy, keeping the door backwards always open so they can go in any direction they want for this series. A wise choice on their part. Also keeps things interesting. Good job pointing all these things out for others. Fact of the matter is, no one really knows how far reaching the echo of eternity really is. As was mentioned by the first warrior of light, that was just his story an time from where he came from. An as the fairy beckons the next hero of light to take charge an shape things to be as he so desires. Clearly a reverse nod back at the zelda series, for referencing the triforce's own words said to link basically that said to close his eyes an make the world as he saw fit to be or such. You should be able to see the similarities now between the 2 games. I could answer more on this subject.. but this would cease to be a comment if I did so 😌 PS: 419 Subs at the time of this comment. As much as I agree there canonically is a hero before SS, I see the appearance of the hylian shield as more of an oversight as the reason for the bird symbol on the emblem is because of hylia lifting people into the sky. The impression I got was the intention was for SS Link to be implied to be the first hero, but the writing of the game is awkward and inconsistent, so the logic of that falls apart quickly upon too close an inspection. You really have to invent solutions and claim history is muddled and so on to make that work. What makes the most sense to me narratively is that there was an early Link but he lacked the powers of being a chosen hero. Maybe he was reliant solely on technology of the ancient era. He likely died either trying to save others or after Demise was sealed, but certainly never fought him directly. It makes sense that it was this relationship with a doomed human that would inspire Hylia to sacrifice herself. The idea that there was no hero and it's all SS Link and the legend is all about Zelda time traveling not only makes no sense (Skyloft had no means of learning of such a legend) but it's also narratively unsatisfying. It's fittingly messy for SS, which really has no business resting at the front of the entire timeline. Hopefully they'll return to the idea at some point. Maybe not a game starring this guy, but at least telling a bit of the actual story.

    Neat theory. It ignores the fact that the Demise fight occurs in a pseudo timeloop in the past, far before the events from the start of the game, thus allowing skyward link to be the original Hylia chosen hero without him even knowing that, along with a few other holes here and there, but good one still. And given how this game was the first to actually consider the idea of a full franchise timeline (meaning everything that came prior to skyward was mostly Nintendo eyeballing plots here and there), your guess is as good as mine on the topic.

  • @DarkLordTalon

    @DarkLordTalon

    Жыл бұрын

    The problem with this idea thjough should be an obvious one. You go back to the events before the start of SS yes. But After Demise' sealing which is outright said and shown. Which means there had to be someone before you that did the deed and you are in fact, Re-doing the deed. Plus, at that point Skyloft would already be, well, Skyloft. Which means there would be no one around to witness or spread stories of the battle that just happened other than your immediate party who all return to the future, save for Impa. Impa wouldn't have anyone to share the story with at that point though so how would the legend have spread? That alone shows there Had to be someone before SS Link.

  • @eduardopereiradossantosmel7403

    @eduardopereiradossantosmel7403

    Жыл бұрын

    @@DarkLordTalon the someone before you to do the deed can still be you if the whole thing is a timeloop as I stated (something in the veins of Terminator 2, old "face full of scars" John Connor started the Resistence, but we follow young "still have hair" John Connor who's completely unaware of his previous loop actions). And for Impa not spreading the legend...why not? She was in the past, and I'm pretty sure she didn't stood still alone in the temple for all those years (at the bare minimum she went shopping for new clothes). If there was people outside anywhere, either on ground or in the sky, she might have told the events, mix with a few decades/centuries of word of mouth and bam, you got yourself a legend. But again, I'm not 100% sure of any hypothesis about this game, since all explanations I've seen or come upon always have significant details that need to be ignored for them to work. And given how the A-team at Nintendo is part genius, part mad scientists, I think this lack of certainty is on purpose.

    I like to think there was at least one Link before Skyward Sword. He was able to defeat various monsters but couldn't defeat Demise. So Hylia, who deeply loved the first Link, put him in a cycle of rebirth until he was able to overcome Demise, and she chose herself a mortal form to "guide" him. Demise then cursed the Link that was able to defeat him, thus mixing his curse with Hylia's, resulting in the cycle of rebirth.

    About the shield... It's interesting to note that official game language makes use of both the terms 'Hylian' and 'Hyrulean', almost as if there were a distinction between the two, where a Hylian would be a person who is of the race born from the goddess Hylia, and a Hyrulean would be a citizen of the kingdom of Hyrule. This used to bug me as I thought it was just translation errors or something, until TOTK came out and they introduced us to the first king of Hyrule, who himself, obviously being a Hyrulean, was a member of an entirely new race of people. I agree that they left some things open for them to go even further back in time for a future Zelda game if they so desired, but since we can make the distinction between a Hylian and a Hyrulean, I have to say that I don't think there was a previous kingdom of Hyrule that somehow got lost to time, especially since its founding at the beginning of the era of prosperity has been long and well established, even if the timeline has been retconned more than once.

It is fitting that the first Link appears to protect the first Zelda. I don’t think we would ever see a game that occupies before SS mainly because the original title of the series was Hyrule Fantasy, this is supposed to be a tale about Hyrule, Zelda and Link, and neither Hyrule, the princes nor the chosen hero existed before SS. Hylia had warriors- the Sheikah, which were people she personally appointed. So past knights aren't out of the question at all. She was guarding the Triforce, which she sensed could be a source of conflict and war, so it makes sense to have additional knights to help keep the peace. The Stalfos in the game are also stated to be fallen warriors from the past too, which are reanimated by an evil spirit. But Hylia's chosen hero is specifically the Link we play as in Skyward Sword, as he's called that throughout the game. And at the end of the game, after defeating Demise in the past, Fi states he has "fulfilled his role as the hero of legend". All past knights were unable to stand up to Demise. Gaepora specifically started the Knights Academy because in the past, the humans were not strong enough to assist Hylia during the war. Therefore, as of right now, Link in Skyward Sword is the first 'hero'.

She doesn’t know she’s the goddess at that point, nor does she know Link travels back in time with it to defeat Demise. @@WindMageMaster I also think the fact that they put that manga with a previous hero in the Historia is also a sign that it was to be interpreted that there are previous heroes. Not only that, but that prologue quote about there being "adventures long hidden from memory" also is proof that there are things happening before Skyward Sword.

Making TOTK or BOTW link to be the first, and the last hero at the same time. Im also a casual fan. So this is as in depth as i can explain my thiught process.

    If you believe in ying and yang. Where there is good there will be bad. Than when this hyrule become existent, and the most people we meet in the games are very nice ones, we can assume that the evil inside every being was at least partially extricated and sealed. It is too much so it certainly results in some outburst´s in some way why there are monsters and every now and then a demise/ganon. So when that evil apears there must be a countermeasure. How that come to be is a story i want play in a game myself^^

    There were lots about skysword that didn't make sense to me, the evil that had existed long before link so either Demise was millions of years old or only just gained a physical form in one of battles against the gods and won, link was the first hero to gain respect from the Demise just by stand up to him, the hero's before either ran from him or die before getting the chance, when the goddess defeat was clear she made skyloft to protect the remaining hylias that she was aware of and then went back to the war using her full power, it wouldn't surprise me if the 7 sages were her commanders and the old hero has her guard and we're reincarnated which the demon Demise piggy back on

    I'm thinking much like how the goddess Hylia was reincarnated into a Human, The Hero was also a god of sorts himself whom later reincarnated after Demises defeat. That being of which I'm referring too is "The Fierce Deity", who's powers are linked to well Link's typical prowess like the beam sword technique, and in all likelihood responsible for sealing Majora in a time bubble from the side story in the Majora's Mask manga (which I recommend you check out).

    No it was the forging of the hero as well. Link's whole journey was the creation of a heroic spirit as well that could weather any challenge, and _crucially_ one that could wield the full Triforce without causing it to split. Hylia/Zelda was taking _no_ chances.
