I live on a lake in Florida and I’m always on a river,creek,lake,ocean or the Gulf and my Duro is my water watch. I have a rule,never take anything out on the water that you are not willing to lose. I personally know of 5 cell phones on the bottom of my lake. Was actually on the phone with my neighbor when he went in.

Check out the ACTUAL dims of the watch in teddy's video. The new duro measures 36mm diameter and the strap is 16mm tapered to 14mm. If the thing was actually 38mm and cost $49 like the old duro i'd buy one this second, even with the poor 50m water resistance.

I completely agree. My husband has the original and loves it. I have a six inch wrist and can't wear something that huge. The new Duro size would have fit for me, but I don't want a push/pull crown or a snap in case back. If I buy a dive style watch, I want to be able to get it wet. If it offered 100 m of water resistance, I'd consider purchasing it. But at this price and water resistance offering, there are better options.

what would you say is better at that price point? I have 6.5 inch wrists and dont feel like i can wear the original duro, but I want a budget dive watch

I just got the 37mm Citizen Promaster. It is all the watch in a smaller package for a fair price and I love it. This is less watch for more money?

It actually is much smaller, only 36mm. My son loves his, it feels well built. But for my 18cm wrist it just looks to small, even on its original thick nato strap (which is of good quality, as well).

I love the original. I own 2, plus another I gave away. All mine have had the second hand hit the indexes spot on. Ive looked at other color variants that also had perfect alignment, and that is a huge OCD pet peeve of mine. It would bother me if I got one like the example you reviewed so I can see why you saw that as a negative. I purchased all my duros at retailers where I was able to handle them prior to purchase. That helps when trying to avoid issues such as poor alignment. As for the new 38 mils. It is less watch for more money. I would not buy one myself.

I’ve always loved the action of the Duro’s bezel. Long Island Watch’s “shellfish” bracelet definitely elevates the old beater IMO.

50m WR? For double the price? Gtfo of here, Casio I agree with you, the Citizen is much better. Yeah, after watching your review of the original one, I never though I'd see you defending it. Goes to show how much of a let down this new one is. Thank you for your review Jory.

T3, Ben´s Watch Club reviewed in hand the "38mm Duro" way before Teddy, and actually measured the watch and it's smaller than what Casio say on their website. It's total missed opportunity for Casio, I agree. Best regards and keep up the good work

It's a Duro Desk Edition. It isn't quite we asked for, but IMO it will do. I just wish they would come down on the price.

They aren't Duro cheap, but there's also the Armida A11s - 36mm, 300m WR, and milsub aesthetics. I LOVE mine.

I kinda think of my seiko sne573 as a smaller duro (with solar and a lume upgrade)

Great recommendation to save a bit more for the Citizen Promaster. $99 for that Duro is an insult to the consumer.

I love my black/gold Casio Duro. It does not disappoint me and is my first choice going swimming etc. The small pseudo "Duro" is a toy for kids.

Original Duro at its size won't be for everyone so here we go now in 38mm I think there will be still a lots of folks whom this size will be perfect for and in few months we will get them for sale in $60 range. Even most of them won't be used for diving, it is still cool to be able to because that's what the dive watch is for. And in my opinion they should spend few extra pennies to make it 200m (maybe the next gen tho) Your polish viewer.

Always a catch! I would totally go for a 38mm with all the same specs as the original. Wah waaaah.

the above 100 M water resistance is for peace of mind that i only have to protect my phone and airpods in case i end too close to water for confort, and since i am 70% water, i will need to be near water one way or another, reducing the amount of objects i have to care for near water is very important since i only have 2 hands.

IMHO, Casio should leave 3-hands analogue dive watches to Citizen, and concentrate on fixing all that's wrong with their sports/health G-Shock line. FWIW, I'm a great Casio fan.

The original Duro is my go to Beater / work watch. Every scratch on it is earned. When I dive with it I know it will just work. The reason 200 m is part of that trust and faith. Skip the dive style Duro and go with the Vostok Amphibian. Cheers!

'When I dive with it I know it will just work'- I wonder how long have you had it? As far as I am aware the dive watches require gasket inspection/replacement every 2 year at the most. Bought mine in the summer of 2022 and so far has been great for swimming but I wonder if I should retire it from swimming duties soon and use it only as a beater.

I have the original and my wife loves it but obviously way to big for her. after showing her the smaller one she had the same conclusion. Why would i pay double for something that is not nearly as good just because it's smaller.

It's interesting. I have always had the means to buy "serious" watches, but never pulled the tr1gger on one. Just can't decide. Can see myself buying a Tudor one day to have a daily desk diver and be done, maybe for life. I didn't even get into the Citizen price range, but did buy multiple Paganis and once something similar. Combined, worth more than the Citizen and getting into microbrand goodness territory. So why didn't I? Well, I like to have a choice and I also didn't know.

My daily ended up being the Pagani "not a Daytona" which actually has horrible readability. The hands are skinny, metal with off-white lume on a white dial. Not to mention the subdials with the numberals in the tiny rims. The Daytona look (let's be real) just worth, and the 39 case and the way Pagani did it...just feel super comfortable. It's a chronograph, megaquartz, but it's become a single use tool: I can sortof read the time from it, and it looks OK. The data is illegible when on the go.

They've really missed the mark with this, only 50m WR, now it will be probably ok for swimming and for 95% of us its enough, but it doesn't fill you with confidence, probably ok isnt the same as ok. What were they thinking??? Thanks for another great video, cheers.

The biggest problem with MDV10 is that it’s actually a 36 mm watch. Add that bezel and its dial is around 27mm. Together with 16 mm strap the watch looks and feels like a woman’s or even baby’s watch. I would love 40mm/20mm size.

We're officially in the shrinkification stage of watches. The pendulum has swung as far to the chonky side as possible with people wearing ridiculous Invictas and such. That is now considered gauche, and we're getting unnecessarily small variants in response. Styling has no middle ground; it's all bell-bottoms or skinny jeans.

38mm includes the crown and is, accordingly, misleading. It will not wear or look like a 38mm watch.

My old duro version cost 60 euro and is 200m waterproof

I recently bought the OG Marlin on Amazon and found out there is absolutely no luminescence, and that the date window is so small, it׳s useless. Great disappointment.

Yep, Casio jumped the shark with this. 50m is a joke because they called this a Duro, so the comparison is valid.

I'll never ever understand why a designer would use hands that cross at the base. Probably the single dumbest design decision in the world of watch design.

Casio did a 5KX on us. Sad.

I am not buying anything calling itself a "diver" with less than 200m WR. Period. 50m is a joke. I'd be reluctant to even take it into the pool. It's like a sports car look on a car with a 35hp engine and 70mph top speed.

Please NOTE that I'm quite sure that there are fake Duros in the market.
