the truth about Taylor Swift concerts

Ойын-сауық

After the stress of getting my single Eras Tour ticket, I had high hopes going into Taylor Swift's concert at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Let's talk about all things Eras Tour, merch issues, hacks, and the disrespect of Speak Now.

yes security was really tight! They made everyone stay in their seats, you couldn’t stand at the barricade and there was tape outlining the floor seat showing how far you could step out

The ones with awful crowd control are the ones that force everyone to stand like sardines inside a pit-like setting with minimal security directly inside the pit. That's why I never go to festivals or events that are SRO. Risk of fights, fainting, and being touched in the wrong way. From what I see, everyone has seats and all seats are spaced out appropriately. And I did see that the portion that was sold as SROs in the Cowboys Stadium have security directly inside it rather than just along the front so it made for a safe viewing experience.

@@kiaram8688Screw that. If I pay to go to a show and you tell me to stay in my seat, I'm about to become a security concern. I been going to rock shows for 20 years and they get rowdy. After I was involved in a failed attempt to put on a fundraising Jimmy buffet concert, I look at well organized concerts with mad respect. We got pretty far in the process before pulling out (as I had been begging us to do), it is a flat out logistical nightmare. Concert event professionals who do it right are little baby angels on earth, even if they get very cranky. It's incredibly complicated and the prices drive up fast, even with modest profit built in.

as a kpop stan who has a heavy hatred for ticketmaster, I never once thought that the fan verification was actually something that verified you as a person. I always assumed and approached it as a lottery system. I get multiple friends and family to apply as well and hope for the best. I think I assumed people outside of kpop also saw it that way. There’s no way ticketmaster doesn’t prioritize scalpers. And they’ve got platinum pricing too. There’s so many people who have accidentally bought platinum tickets

Swifties were just so surprised because the Rep Tour was most definitely fan verified, you could earn higher places in line by completing TS related activities. They had slow ticketing, where verified fans were assigned to time slots through out the day and you could leisurely browse and pick which seats you wanted and you could check out without messages saying someone else got your tickets first. I had Lover Fest tickets and I think if you had Rep tickets was the verified fan process for that show. I don't remember much about the Lover Fest ticket buying process but I know I wasn't traumatized like I was after the Eras Tour Ticketmaster fiasco.

Honestly, this was my first and probably last TS concert (because $$$) and I really think that if she releases a tour video you will get to see so much more of the show than many of us did. I would say the only thing the video won't capture effectively is the sheer magnitude of the crown and the LED bracelet effects. I was in the nosebleeds, so I missed a lot, but even people up closer experienced a lot of view obstruction that is inevitable in a live show. idk, people kept telling me "there's no bad seats at a TS concert" but I have to disagree. I think when the venue is that large its impossible to make sure everyone sees everything. I will be very happy to watch the tour video. Ultimately I'm grateful I had the opportunity to go with but the cost of not just the tickets, but also travel, hotel and alllll the walking. I dont think I will ever subject myself to that again. But then again, Im not in my 20s anymore so... concerts are harder to begin with LOL And youre right, the crowds were terrible haha. I left 3 songs early so I could descend the nosebleeds without getting knocked over and I still got stuck in a crowd.

When I was a teen I had exactly 2 experiences: I went to a VERY SMALL concert for a Brazilian Rock band, there were probably like less than a thousand people there. I hated everyone so close to me and I hated how tiny the artists were on stage. Then there was Rock In Rio, which was Entirely Transmitted on TV by a cable channel dedicated to music. Every artist on all days of the festival. I stayed up until 3a.m. to watch the artists that I was most excited for, and then I could go straight. To. My. Bed. I was in my couch and if I wanted to go to the bathroom or get some food I could just DO IT. Still listening to the music, even, if I wanted to. Needless to say, I'll never go to a concert again

My guess as to why your ticket wasn't VIP, but everyone around you was, was because you may have gotten a "platinum" ticket. It's not vip, it's TMs dynamically priced ticket where they just make the ticket stupidly over priced cause they can. But when they say “if there’s seat left we will send out a 2nd set of codes, I never go the second set. They don’t do checks to ensure people are not scalpers(?) it’s ridiculous About shirt: I’m so scared of my shirts from Blackpink messing up. I wish companies took better care for quality of clothing. And most the buyers who weren’t ticket holders were just buying merch to upsell it. We had 4 verified fan signups going for us for Taylor and only I got a code and failed miserably at getting tickets, I didn’t get through until 5 hours later and sadly I decided to drive about 4 hours in while the queue was going thinking it would be long enough and my turn already started and everything was gone and I still haven’t gotten anything. For Yoongi we had 5 Army presale codes, 3 got codes, and only one of us ended up getting in and we had no choice but to buy VIP because it was all that was left, definitely not complaining but the whole process nearly gave me a panic attack 🫠

I really hope she puts out an Eras Tour DVD. Blu-ray is fine too, but just on streaming is not great, because it can disappear without notice. I got into concert DVDs because of my dad, I still regularly watch Talking Heads Stop Making Sense, and watched Paul McCartney's Back in The US a number of times, because I actually got to see it as my first big concert that I could remember. I love my dad's VHS recording of MTVs broadcast of Rodger Waters at the Wall 1990, commercials and all. With Taylor's vinyl releases I think she understands the value of physical media, and how many fans could not get tickets, a film version would probably be well received.

I wouldn't be surprised if scalpers and bots were set up to buy merch or vinyl so they could sign up for something like this. i saw another video saying ticket master was expecting a million people to try and get tickets for the presell and it was 18 million, Taylor I think said or someone from her team said they tried to say this is what we are expecting for this based on album sells and ticket master said they could handle it, so either they just didn't believe her or something because it was a bigger mess than normal.

I don’t know that verified was random. I was kicked out TWICE while trying to originally buy tickets and didn’t get any before they sold out, I was on my computer ALL DAY. A week or so later I got an email from Taylor’s team giving me another chance to buy tickets saying they see I received a boost and wasn’t able to buy tickets. They gave different price groupings to choose from (not seats to choose). My sister and I decided to just go for the highest price range 300-550. And the email was clear this was just a MAYBE you’ll get tickets. We got fourth row, end of the catwalk, floor seats for $550 a piece on opening night in Arizona. They were not “vip” with the lanyard. I saw her freaking face looking at my face. Maybe the first part of verification was messed up in it not being screened correctly but there isn’t a doubt in my mind the ONLY reason I scored great seats at a great price was because Taylor (her team) cares about true fans seeing her show and paid attention to boosts and past concert/merch purchases.

I was at the July 7th show which was as Taylor put it the release party for Speak Now TV which as most people have put it has been the best show so far with all the extras she did and the acoustic songs she performed. She performed 2 songs in her new gown which was still gorgeous in addition to the other things she did for that night. I also hope that you got to see the haunted performance I know she already did it at an earlier show.

Gotta agree with this one. I’m not an expert about music or dancing either and I went to the opening night of the whole tour and the stage/effects/everything blew me away.

I was only eligible for the capital one sale out of me and my friend. We never had a chance to even think about buying tickets cause it never opened to the public in a way we could easily find. Also all news was on Twitter so it was really easy to be out of the loop

Thank you for posting this!! I love Taylor but I’m not a big enough fan that I wanted to fight for a ticket that would cost hundreds of dollars. But I was super curious to know what the concert was actually like, so I’m super grateful for this video!

Applaud all that can handle that much people energy, and pay an enormous amount of money. Taylor's the best in just about every way I can think of, but for me it's just too many people. Great job on this vlog, and so glad to hear you really had a good time.

The piano is a keyboard placed into a decorated shell. She did for reputation and 1989. Pianos have extremely sensitive tuning mechanisms to the point where, if you move it once, from one place to another, you have to wait a few days before getting it tuned as the change in temp, humidity, air pollutants, anything really can have a massive affect on the strings. Touring with an actual piano would be impossible.

Unless you're at a small venue, getting merch is an absolute nightmare. I honestly haven't bought anything at an arena or stadium show in ages. The lines are always awful. I appreciate when artists sell their leftover tour merch on their websites for this reason.

Hope Speak Now gets more love down the line. It's my favorite album of hers. First concert I ever went to was the Speak Now tour in 2011

Can't believe we went to the same show! I was sitting in the 140 section so I was pretty far from the stage but got a pretty much front side view of the entire stage setup. I was genuinely blown away by the lighting of the entire stadium, the rainbow light was one of my favorites too. I didn't plan for my merch game, ended up lining up within the stadium and spent 1 hr or something to get 2 T-shirts. I'm not gonna wash them if I can for as long as I can.

So I got VIP tickets for Houston, and I'm so excited to attend. I'm hoping with VIP when you have early entry that I'll be able to also get merch. I've been a fan of taylor since debut and I'm 25 now so, going to this show means so much to me. Hoping she performs Haunted because that song is such a bop. ❤

If all 68 000 concert goers paid $600 for a ticket the total is over 40 MILLION DOLLARS.

yeah the verified fan process was so strange. i live in canada and all of the events ive purchased through my ticketmaster account are for toronto/montreal shows (im in ottawa so its relatively easy to get to both of those cities) but i got a code for the new jersey shows while one of my friends who lives in new jersey and goes to shows in new rutherford all the time didn't. ofc im so glad that i was able to get a code and get tickets for relatively cheap, but its a little odd.

Speak Now was also my favorite album for so long! I wish I could go to her concerts, but I'm disabled, and it would probably be unsafe. I'm also the kind of Swiftie that can't afford a $60 cardigan, so I've been working on one I'm making based on the design
