    congratulations!!! That's so exciting. I don't have one particular memory that sticks out to me but once it gets nice in March, April, and May, the days are so fun. After class grabbing coffee with friends, doing work on blankets outside, playing chill music, going to the lake on the weekends. it honestly feels like a different campus!

    I applied to Skidmore also, BUT, it was definitely lower on my list then my New England schools were (Boston & Amherst were more interesting places to me than Saratoga Springs was) since I wanted to be at a New England college specifically. As for other upstate NY colleges I applied to, Bard & Sarah Lawrence were MUCH HIGHER up on my list than Skidmore was because they were more "alternative" in their educational approach, structure and philosophy. Skidmore seemed to be a great college, but it just wasn't the right "fit" for me. I truly believe that every college student has the "right fit" college for them.

    Visited Skidmore today with my daughter who graduates HS this year. We’re from Virginia. She likes the school. I’m curious about the Fin Aid and how inclusive the culture is. Thanks for your video.

    Hi James. Glad to hear you made it up to Saratoga. My guidance counselor in HS told me not to apply to Skidmore because they don't give a lot of financial aid, but it turned out that they gave me the most compared to all the others schools. I think it depends on the student, but for the most part, it's pretty good. As for the culture, I'd say the school is inclusive and provides a lot of opportunities to get involved. In general, students are friendly and creative, and there are many well-rounded individuals.

    Loved the video, very insightful!! I just have some questions: Is the environment more collaborative or more competitive? Do you feel that the small size affected your ability to have a variety of fields of study? Have you ever felt claustrophobic with the smaller student body and town size? Thank you!!

  • @roset22

    @roset22

    3 жыл бұрын

    HI Catarina. Great questions! Skidmore is by far more collaborative compared to competitive. For such a small school, they offer more areas of study. For example, most small liberal arts schools don't provide business. As for your last question, the school does feel claustrophobic at times, but the positives of going to a small school made it worth it.

    @@mubashshirifrad1728 I tested poorly, so I didn't submit my scores and don't know how much they weighed SAT if you send them. That being said, they're going to look at you holistically. I think they will appreciate that you have involved yourself actives that allowed you to strengthen your English. Make sure that you emphasize that in your application.

My honest opinion is if you make friends easily, go to London. Everyone I asked who went to Skid told me don't do it. It can be hard to feel part of the social life at Skidmore when you return but if you are super outgoing and its easy to make new friends I would totally recommend it. hope that helps.
