I've always read that seaweed is so good for you. And a friend was always pushing me to try it. I have tried, and tried, and tried to include it in my diet. But every single time I just end up gagging until I make myself literally sick. But the only one I've tried is the Nori. Thank you so much for this video. Although I'm still a bit confused. Then again, my thyroid has been removed, and I never know if some of the suggestions, etc. relate to those of us who have no thyroid.

Yeah, the taste is not for everyone- LOL! To answer your question, my recipes and lifestyle posts are for anyone taking long-term supplemental thyroid hormone, including those who have undergone thyroidectomy. While there are slight differences (like less focus on supporting the thyroid's production of thyroid hormone), many of the symptoms and struggles are the same (weight gain, fatigue, digestive issues, joint pain, depression, cold intolerance, etc.). Renowned thyroid advocate Mary Shomon taught me that whether we start with Graves/hyperthyroidism, thyroid cancer, or Hashimoto’s, most treatment pathways lead to permanent hypothyroidism (i.e. needing to take supplemental thyroid hormone). And while medication is a necessity, and can help a lot, many of us find that we still struggle with residual hypothyroid symptoms. Thyroid-healthy diet and lifestyle can help with all that comes along with that. And the safer types of seaweed I talk about in this episode have many other health benefits besides iodine. Hope that's helpful and not TMI. But you're right - iodine is a confusing topic in this aspect!

Thank you! Very helpful. I’ve had hypothyroidism for decades…and I love seaweed & sushi. (My hypothyroidism began prior to discovering either seaweed or sushi.)
