Even if a player is a literal saint, that doesn't make them exempt from criticism when it comes to their football performances. Pointing out that he isn't putting in the effort levels that would be expected from a top premier league player isn't abuse. United fans have plenty of reason to be disgruntled with Rashford - not just for this season. Rashford runs hot and he runs cold, and when he runs cold he single-handedly ruins a season. 88% of the United Stand viewers would be happy to sell him, and they have good reason to feel that way.

I think the problem is that obviously marcus rashford is getting hate and I'm sure that a lot of people say stupid unnecessary things towards him, but I don't think saying that rashford has been playing bad is abuse. He is in a very privileged position as a player that fans would love to be in, so when he is seen walking around the pitch not pressing and complaining all the time while earning one of the highest wages in the league he can and deserves to be criticised. Obviously what rashford did in lockdown was great and should be commended, but doing that does not mean you should be immune from criticism, there are many people in the world who do charitable actions and get no media coverage and get next to no praise.

i think alot of the hate rashford gets is cus hes the face of manchester united. Similar to Saka who gets targeted because hes the face of arsenal. However difference is arsenal fans back saka unlike united fans

last season he had 30G/A and for the 4/5 previous seasons he had 20 + G/A, there are very few wingers in world football that can match his numbers, He’s also constantly forced to play through injuries, last year he covered the second most distance on the pitch out of the squad and topped the charts for sprints per game, his whole work ethic is the opposite of lazy. The way united fans single out our very own academy product is sickening

I'm guessing timing is also a factor, last season he was pushing for a new contract and played otherworldly... a lot of fans cynically predicted that once he tied up his new contract, he will drop his form. The fact it happened.... who knows whether motivation is an actual issue or not... that probably riled some fans up. I personally love Rashford and this year is just a combination of fatigue and a dip in form... plus the entire team was crap. I still think he still have the fire and still loves playing for United. I just hope that next season will be better and he can get a better mindset.

I think the reason why things aren't going well for Marcus Rashford, is the success he had as a goal scorer last season. The team was heavily reliant on Marcus to score, but it worked out since everything was flowing naturally for him. There has been too much focus on getting Rashford the ball, going past players, and getting shots off. While in form, Rashford was gliding past people and shooting on instinct. Now his play is more forced, because of that expectation. Once Rashford is able to take a broader view of the match, he can regain his composure and will start scoring as a result. I look forward to a more free flowing Marcus Rashford next season.

Marcus had a break up with his fiancee too at start of this season, and things like this affect differently to different person. Since he lost his woman and got a big contract, life would seems not so meaningful for him too now, he just need to find the love of the game again, I am sure bro will bounce back soon.

Rashford is a great guy and should be commended for his humanitarian work off the pitch, as are many people who aren't public figures. But Rashford isn't who he is because of his activism, he's a footballer first and foremost and has a responsibility to those who pay his wages, i.e. the fans who attend the games. As an under-performing athlete, he is rightly criticized for being in a privileged position. If he can't stand criticism, he should think about another profession, because athletes who aren't mentally strong won't last long in the elite. (Listening to online trolls is really stupid tho)

Another player who played a lot of football at a top club very young burning out years later. His confidence is completely shattered, he hasnt got the same fire and intensity he had when he first burst onto the scene. Maybe he needs a move away from United to take the limelight and pressure off to find his confidence again He's not had any particular injury problems so no reason why he can't get back close to the levels we know hes capable of.

He had a severe back injury in the Ole days, but just as with Martial, Ole played him injured all the time. He ruined the career of Martial, but now maybe he could've ruined Rashfords too. Back injuries are some of the worst, because most people never truly recover from them. And it really seems like mentally he is afraid of going into tackles because of that. Its sad to see

No, it's not a legit criticism of Rashford because if you go back several seasons in his career, he has had several up and down seasons under different managers. His form is a reflection of the inconsistencies of the club, their tactics and the difference managers that have taken charge at Man U

Rashford is a lovely lad but he has been awful on the pitch for the last 16 month. You can criticise the player without abusing the man. If rashford takes criticism as abuse, that's on him. He actually doesn't get enough criticism from the English media as they never criticise English players.

As a Liverpool fan, it's easy for me to hate (most) United players, not genuine hate (unless we're talking Roy Keane). But I can't do that with Rashford. Not only is a good player (poorly managed so far, but he still has time to achieve his full potential), but I like and respect him as a person off-the-pitch too.

  • @VillaFanDan92

The fact that Rashford is so politically vocal always sets him up for a barage of "He cares more about that than he does football" whenever he plays poorly. Rashford under any other manager is a better player. He even plays better for England, and Southgate is an idiot.

He carried us last season and got us lots of points in games we shouldve lost. But with uniteds fanbase being so big, our most famous player on the roster will always be hounded in social media to get free clicks and engagement. It's a bigger problem of united "fan" influencers and creators like goldbridge who profit off spreading rumors and negativity about our own players. A lot of those people arent even united fans. Of course theres constructive criticism about Rashford he's not perfect, but so many people are actively looking for the times he doesnt track back during a game just to clip it and talk shit
