Фильм және анимация

In this insightful interview excerpt, Scott Galloway, author of "The Algebra of Wealth," challenges the conventional wisdom of following one's passion. He argues that prioritizing talent over passion is more crucial for success. Galloway emphasizes the importance of finding talent and developing mastery, even in seemingly mundane industries.
He critiques the notion of following passion, suggesting it's often given by those already financially successful. While he's not completely wrong, he's not completely right, either. Being rich doesn't make you feel any different or any better. And using your money to take care of your parents, rather than doing it yourself, is a shitshow and feels awful. I'd rather be rich than poor, but one of the big things I've learned from wealth is that there are some problems for which it is useless.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Galloway is an iconoclast. Some of what he says is for effect. The research backs him up that the way to find your passion is to discover your natural talent and develop mastery.

@@RexMiller That's true, but there's also research showing that pursuing work that is aligned with your passions makes you more persistent at it and develop mastery in it; so it works both ways. In any case, one needn't assume that talent and passion are mutually exclusive ... there is usually a strong overlap between them.

@@adityaiyengar222 - you're spot on. Playing to your strengths releases the intrinsic motivation of dopamine, endorphins, serotonin, and oxytocin. I see it as a virtuous loop. They reinforce each other.

@@RexMiller So you are saying if your talent is to wipe Trump's butthole or to clean sewers then you should love it even though your first love might be fixing up cars but you are just average at it at the current stage in your life.
