Rex works at the intersection of numerous complex challenges. He developed a process called MindShift. It is a unique platform that brings together experts and stakeholders to tackle wicked problems. These include the common nightmare of delivering capital projects, workplace disengagement, the declining education system, toxic shadow cultures, schools and workplace health, and well-being. He believes well we work together to solve these great problems determines the effectiveness of the outcome.

Lame advice from this clown!
While he's not completely wrong, he's not completely right, either. Being rich doesn't make you feel any different or any better. And using your money to take care of your parents, rather than doing it yourself, is a shitshow and feels awful. I'd rather be rich than poor, but one of the big things I've learned from wealth is that there are some problems for which it is useless.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Galloway is an iconoclast. Some of what he says is for effect. The research backs him up that the way to find your passion is to discover your natural talent and develop mastery.
@@RexMiller That's true, but there's also research showing that pursuing work that is aligned with your passions makes you more persistent at it and develop mastery in it; so it works both ways. In any case, one needn't assume that talent and passion are mutually exclusive ... there is usually a strong overlap between them.
@@adityaiyengar222 - you're spot on. Playing to your strengths releases the intrinsic motivation of dopamine, endorphins, serotonin, and oxytocin. I see it as a virtuous loop. They reinforce each other.
@@RexMiller So you are saying if your talent is to wipe Trump's butthole or to clean sewers then you should love it even though your first love might be fixing up cars but you are just average at it at the current stage in your life.
Thank you so much! I bought all Mike’s tapes on creativity! It changed my life. I appreciate you and hope to hear more of your ideas. Thank you.
So cool!
Grandkids are great teachers when I take the time to observe.

I have had the privilege of visiting River Rose. It's beautiful! I highly recommend a visit.
You're always welcome!
Thanks, it helps me a lot when I have to think through a project. However, I believe you should enhance the video quality to make it even better.

Rex, thank you for creating Genius Spark. You have been a tremendous advisor over the years and this tool is another example of your genius.
Very welcome
Excellent perspective.
Much appreciated
I have had the honor of visiting River Rose and I can second what Kurt shared. It is a wonderful property that allows you to connect with your thoughts, challenges, and solutions regarding anything you're tackling.
Simple and fundamentally sound. Yet, so many companies in their effort to succeed stray from these traits. Thank you for the reminder Rex.

“Respect!” That was such a brave thing to do with his family. What a wonderful way to be vulnerable, transparent and at the same time have fun doing it 😂

Great overview Rex. Thank you for sharing.
Great reminder Rex!
Great conversation…especially when remembering that while your boss probably is disrespectful, there’s a larger societal issue going on that’s bigger than your coworkers. I do think this ignored the fact that it’s pretty much statistically proven at this point that to get a raise it’s better to leave and go somewhere else because it’s rare to move up in the same company these days…but yes people being hasty can be a bad thing. On the other hand, for a lot of people it couldn’t possibly get much worse. Lots to think about, thanks 💜
This is great Rex!
Our natural resources are crucial to our survival and attraction to Glen Rose!
Joel - thanks. Did you used to live at 404 Paluxy Street?
Thank you Rex!
When i started there in 1973 there was 1200 employees. When I left in 1989 150 employees. I heard at one point they had 5000! employees!
Just check the state’s laws Privet planting legality is very strict.
Thanks - these are native in my creek
Be that truth as we know. It says to me were maintaining a lifestyle that is no longer possible. Higher prices in everything! The free give aways make it possible not listen to the powers that be.
Excellent! Just wondering, were there key questions or phrases that helped in the facilitation (i.e. made it collaborative/non adversarial)?
Wow i had never heard that statistic at the start thx!!
When I started I parked 1/2 mile away there were so many employees. When I left there were @ 150.
That’s incredible. What year did you start there?
Worked there till it closed.
Thank you Rex for sharing this great reminder. I believe great leaders understand the importance of creating a "learning organization". One that reinforces and encourages continuous learning. Its the core to have a great organization and a great life!. Thanks again!!
Well said!
What a great share Rex, love this! As I do keep reminding my 8 year old twins, failure is most definitely the path to success - and with that attitude, one can never really ever fail
John - most of the challenge comes from school. Learning to conform and meet their minimum standards.
Thanks for sharing this, Rex. There is no growth without risk. We cannot stay relevant if we don't cultivate our "child mind." I've used this same example, a child learning to walk, as I've worked with organizations. It is particularly relevant to building a resilient working culture. Imagine if we only tried once to walk and never got back up as a child? What if a child is shamed for not being able to walk the first time they try? Going into all the "next normals" developing leadership at all levels that role models growth mind set and is trained to lead teams to do the same will be able to "walk, run and jump" (i.e., innovate and iterate) as well as being fine with having to get back up and try again, when needed (fail fast, learn, and move forward with more knowledge).
Mim - This analogy is so good on so many levels. The ground seemed a lot more forgiving when I was younger :-)
Rex..thanks for this wisdom.
My pleasure! How are you and the firm doing through COVID?
Do you want to be right or do you want to be effective....EXCELLENT question!
Exactly!
Great job on the new studio setup!
