I absolutely adored the video and theformat! Only thing I had trouble with was how much I could hear the mouth sounds throughout, which made it hard for me to watch since I'm sensitive to that sorta noise. considering that's the only thing I can think of that I can nitpick is a testament to how much I overall enjoyed it though ^.^

WOW - what Lana mentioned about how blocking someone refunds them all the money they've ever spent on you? That's a MASSIVE issue. That's basically putting subscribers with more money in a huge position of power in that they can basically buy the right to be abusive. That's seriously not okay. Awesome video, as always. You're a great interviewer and Lana was an amazing interviewee. I'm more or less asexual and completely uninterested in NSFW stuff, so this was a fascinating insight into something I know basically nothing about other than the YT videos I've seen about Gabby DeMartino. The problem I have with this kind of thing is that it sells itself as easy money when, in reality, as Maddison mentioned, there is a lot of work to put into it and, for most of the regular folks who aren't celebrities or aren't super attractive or wtv, you'll never get to these numbers. These nudes or videos, if leaked, can ruin your life (and we shouldn't live in this kind of world, but we do). Not only can you be fired from your regular job, but you can also be stalked, doxxed, threatened. These companies have commodified sexuality and intimacy in order to make money and you're the product.

I feel like that's largely due to the societal influence too, like, especially for women, doing sw can be dangerous and it's not something you can just throw yourself at without thinking of the consequences. Like, a lot of people ask me about my job (flight attendant) and when I tell them about the bad aspects and the risks associated with the job, like health risks and the idea that the plane can crash, they do a double-take and re-evaluate. With sw, that often doesn't happen. You're sold the idea that all you have to do is take a decent photo of yourself naked and sell it and you're done.

I hate being this person who comes of as conservative or prudish, but I find it very concerning that putting out adult content on the internet is becoming so socially accepted. It's not only about the porn controversy. Doing stuff like that, putting sexual stuff and flat out porn to the internet, should not be that casual. I don't think it should be illegal, but I feel like OF is becoming such a normal topic even for kids (I am a teacher and my 6 graders know about it) So I really like the girl in the end talking straight facts about this industry/site!

I agree with most of your comment, but sex has been commodified for a while now (phone sex services have existed since the 1960s, full-service sex work has existed for centuries now, etc.), so I don't think we can blame any modern companies for the commodification of sex and intimacy.

I worry about sex workers having to RELY on sex work to make a living, because it pushes them to do things they're not comfortable with. If you don't make as much as you expected for a couple of months you might be more likely to do sex acts you're not comfortable with, because the alternative is not being able to pay rent and losing your home. From Lana’s perspective & advice, Lana has said she doesn’t do what she doesn’t want to do and recommends other sw to not do anything they don’t want to do. With a platform like OF you are completely in control of what content you want to put out the only “pressure” being from your subscribers but even so you’re able to dictate what content you want to make and how- I definitely think some people may feel the pressure to continue to escalate their content but I’m hoping if anyone would watch the interview I did with Lana they would know that’s not valid and they do not have to feel that way.

@@cruelworldhappymind I can definitely see that Lana is in a position where they won't do anything they don't want to do, and I think it's great how happy and comfortable they are with their work and how they have a support system who understand sex work - I just worry about people who don't have that amazing support system, or aren't as sure of themselves and their boundaries (especially younger people). I have a friend who started doing online sex work a couple of years ago - she's broken her own rules several times now, including meeting up with customers in public, and I'm terrified for her safety. And that's someone who doesn't necessarily NEED the money - she lives rent-free with relatives and gets enough unemployment support to cover her needs - imagine the pressure to break your own boundaries when it looks like the only way to keep fed and sheltered.

@@jessiejeanne9717these aren’t feminist lies at all, these are lies of capitalism and the patriarchy. “women need to sell their bodies to be empowered” is definitely not a tenet of feminism last i checked. and RE detransitioning: children and teens are rarely the individuals receiving permanent affirmation treatment. the data does not support that anyone is receiving permanent irreversible treatment as a child with the exception of Intersex kids, who are forced into surgery. Transitioning has a 97% success rate. And when it comes to detransitioning, the basics of affirming someone’s gender identity regardless of their physical appearance is crucial for healthy social and emotional state whether it’s the primary transition, or a detransition. and yes, that’s coming directly from detransitioners (a small percentage of transgender populations). let’s not pretend this is about the children. if it were, you would openly support affirming their gender (which does so much to improve mental health without medication or surgery). it’s so cut and dry hope this helps!

One thing I think immediately comes to mind, at least mine, is there seems to be a common denominator of childhood sexual abuse/childhood trauma. I'm not saying everyone, because I assume there are people who had good childhoods, I may haven't met one yet. There's a stigma attached, not to the abuse, but how it's being dealt with (sex workers having daddy issues from neglect). Sorry this was long, but I'm curious as to the real stigma attached to something people consume while ridiculing it. Hypocrites!

Lana was criticized for doing sex work by the roomate, her male boyfriend was not. It looks like gender probably was factored into this. And of course lots of criticism of sex work stems from sexism, specifically towards women. Very few people look at a male porn star or whatever and go 'wow what a slut'. A lot of people say they're lucky, cause y'know they get to bang loads of chicks. As a Dominatrix & Domme camgirl/OF creator, I would love to enlighten you on the side of sex work that does actually entail being mean. I felt like the interview, while definitely a great interview with many good points, portrays what could just be Dominant creators in a bad light. There are many many men out there who are actively searching for and paying women to be mean to them (including aftercare), because they enjoy it. Financial domination has become a very large thing that is also something many people are acting as if it’s easy money. There is a huge issue with people saying it’s easy money as with the OF issue and proceeding to lure in young women who don’t really understand it to pay for courses and follow suit, not even knowing how to properly be a Domme but thinking it’s just easy because they can be mean and make money (it isn’t that easy, and that is where the interviee in this video definitely has a point!) I can get super deep into this topic and I’d love to chat with you sometime.

Following along with the mlm theme: Since Lana Bee is the top 1%, it might be helpful to hear from someone in the bottom 10% what their OF experience is/was like. Also, it reminds me of the top Beachbody coach and how she exploded in that company because she had a post on Facebook go viral. Lana Bee had a large existing fanbase before OF started, something many newbies won’t have.

Plumbella, Tehmimi and so on. There tends to be accusations thrown about debating whether or not someone is “faking it for attention”. Whose to say that if they weren’t honest about issues they’d be faking neurotypicality to please the masses? Lol.

The Only Fan allows women to have financial freedom and job choices. However, I just don't get why OF is treated as the symbol of women's sexual liberation and freedom. The site commodified the women's, and men's, bodies, sexuality, and exploitation of false intimacy. OF lowers the bar to get into the sex work for people and sadly many ordinary people, like people who have never worked in the sex work industry, who have a platform on the OF do not realize that how serious and dangerous it can be, like Lana said stalking, doxing, and threatened by other models or fans.

This video is incredible. We don't often see those in the sex industry talking so candidly about their work and how they personally feel about it. The way she described the work gave me a different idea of what it is. She described it as making people happy by allowing them to indulge in a treat or luxury. I've never heard it spoken that way, but that's a legitimate feeling. I think this video has the potential to change how people view this industry. *edited for this afterthought; you certainly brought up a very important point when you stated that these performers need to realize before doing OF, that it will follow them around. I have known too many women from Instagram who felt pressured to make adult content, only to make very little money. With some having family find them on the platform. Or promoting their page on their socials (being the best way to gain subs) and having coworkers find their page and get FIRED. I'm sure some will see that and think it's "wrongful termination." But at the end of the day, some employers see your only fans as a bad reflection of their company. And then making future career search difficult. There is so many future ramifications of making adult content young women do not forsee.

This was such a great video, I really liked the interview portion. Having a primary source of information is amazing for commentary. And I must say, Lana has really opened my eyes to the reality of sex work and how normal it really is. I will do my best to normalize it when it comes up in conversation with my friends.
