The Truth About Carlock - 9 months and 2 cars later

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Carlock 10% Discount Code = WORKPLAYDR10 for use on Amazon - amzn.to/3l6oXut
Today’s video is on Carlock. I’m sure you’ve seen their product in tons of social media posts as I did. Last year curiosity got the best of me, and I contacted them to see if I could get one. In December of last year, Carlock hooked me up with the Carlock device and service, and I’ve been testing it over the previous 9 months. …and by testing, I mean using it daily on my vehicles.
Products seen in This video
1. Carlock 2nd gen Advanced Tracker - amzn.to/3l6oXut
2. Carlock Tag - amzn.to/3a2bQUY
3. Carlock optional power connector - amzn.to/2ZUkW4f
4. CarLock OBD Slim Extension Cable - amzn.to/3B2u8kC
5. Energizer Lithium 2016 coin Battery - amzn.to/3ozmtXP
6. Battery Tender Plus - amzn.to/3A8Xywd
In this video, I will cover what Carlock can do for both a daily driver and a garage queen. How easy it is to install, along with other more discrete install options. How to use Carlock and how to use the Carlock Tag to make the product even better.
I’ll also cover some of the things that annoy me about the product! I’ve had a lot of time to use Carlock, so this is not going to be one of those videos where you watch someone read the package to you and say, “this is great; buy it now. “

Great video which confirms what I hoped as a new user to Carlock Products here in the UK (Scotland), I also have the tag and the new vibration sensor for added security, the only one thing I wish they had, is a plan that links more than one device i.e. a 2nd device hidden in the vehicle, they tell me they have no plans yet other than buying a separate device & plan, but other than this I am well pleased with the devices, thanks for sharing your experiences.

The CarLock tag accessory that uses a Bluetooth connection to your phone to enable/disable CarLock automatically requires a cr2016 battery that lasts about 6 months. While it would be convenient if the battery dies it doesn’t impede the functionality of CarLock. They are the size of a quarter and cost less than a buck

It’s great you can be alerted when some one tries opening your car and if taken it can track your car but once it’s taken note sure it’s comes back in one piece…. Also having a loud car alarm that can go off when the car is tampered with would be welcome as well.. ( other than the OEM one )….

Nice video. So when it provides a low voltage alert will the Carlock actually stop working or will it keep working up until it theoretically kills the battery past the point the car won't start? My concern is that my car will some time sit a week to 2 weeks in between starting and I don't generally keep a trickle charger on the car so if the Carlock keeps functioning after the alert it will mean I basically have to start charging. Also is the voltage level adjustable for the setting it looks for or is that hard coded in the app?

With the dongle you can hide it anywhere. amzn.to/3RXcJ4Q My only recommendation is to attach it to something metal that is attached to the body of the car. This will make sure when somebody slams the door or bangs the car it will trigger the shock alert. For example your seat framing you can tap in to the power under there for the power seats. You can hide it in the center console and tap into the always on power port.

Forgot to ask in previous comment. Did you do any kind of testing with Carlock and something else connected to the OBD network at the same time like maybe a code scanning tool? So I have a code scanning tool that can also provide sort of a dashboard to a mobile device to display multiple gauges on the same screen. One of the biggest short comings of the Uconnect system and Performance Pages is that you can customize the display to show the gauges you are interested in on a single page. I have a 9 inch tablet that I run in my car and with the OBD scanning tool I have a customized interface. Just wondering how they would both work with say the Carlock in the trunk on the bypass cable and the scanning tool in the actual OBD port.

Carlock doesn't need the OBD port at all, only power. You can grab this power connector amzn.to/2ZUkW4f and simply wire it to an always on circuit then stash the Carlock somewhere in the car. Sensitivity is based on placement. To the best of my knowledge Carlock is not sensitive enough to detect light hits over the entire car. However you seem to have the same level of OCD that I do. I received a dash cam for testing this morning that has AI assisted impact detection. It will supposedly let you know an impact was detected and where on your vehicle it happened. It also flags the recording so it’s easy to find in the app. This cam won’t notify you in real time but when you get back to the car it will notify you on what happened.
