The Truth about Big Ben

Ойын-сауық

I was researching some early boxing history when I came across something that interested me, so after falling down a ridiculous rabbit hole I decided to share it.

Love these these great old boxing and wrestling accounts . Are you familiar with George MacDonald Fraser's _Black Ajax_ ? It's one of his wonderful historical novels. In this case it's about Tom Molineaux. Fictional, but carefully constructed so that it's difficult or impossible to say it didn't happen that way much like his Flashman stories.

Speaking of tangents: There used to be a comicbook shop in town here, the fist one where I opened a folder to start regularly collecting. It was called Bigg Comics, and was run by a great fellow named Ben Biggs. FIGHT TEAM!

Finally, the story of champion Benjamin Caunt fighting a giant bell for ownership of a nickname. The story of the related Liberty Bell is also about boxer fighting a bell, except the man hit hit the bell so hard it broke.

Huh... I've always just assumed the pugilist was named after the bell. I never even considered that it was the other way around.

@@EnglishMartialArts I'm sure it is! I've been drinking coffee 39 years now, so I would say I'm quite experienced drinker. Mostly I drink small roastery coffees; more expensive but they taste so much better. Too bad no shipping to Finland (but I understand), these made me very interested.

No. I didn't know this. So, if I win a slap fight can I arrogantly call myself the "Big Ben of Slapping"? fight Team! I say upload when you can. If this isn't stressing you out then do it, if it is then there is nothing wrong with taking little breaks or preparing videos. Different people work in different ways. This is your channel; not t.v.
