The Trump investigations you should actually care about

The four criminal investigations into the former president, explained

Donald Trump is now the first former US President to face criminal charges. He pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree.
This case involves hush money that Trump’s lawyer paid to an alleged former sexual partner. But it’s actually just one of four criminal investigations into the former president. The other three investigations focus on his behavior after the 2020 presidential election.
A Georgia team is examining Trump’s efforts to persuade Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find” more Trump votes after the votes had been counted and Raffensperger had declared Joe Biden the winner.
Federal special prosecutor Jack Smith is heading up the other two investigations. One group is looking at the Trump team’s attempts to persuade officials in a handful of states where Biden won not to certify his victory, and instead to claim Trump won the state despite the vote counts.
The other federal investigation is focused on classified documents that Trump brought with him from the White House to his Florida estate after losing the 2020 election. According to reports from the Washington Post and the New York Times, when the FBI searched his estate in August 2022, they found documents related to nuclear weapons, as well as files containing information that could put US informants in the field in danger.
As president, Trump didn’t just say outrageous things, he acted in unprecedented ways. Now that he’s out of office, investigators in a variety of jurisdictions are trying to figure out if he broke the law, too.

In addition to the four ongoing criminal investigations, there’s also a federal civil case against Trump working its way through the courts. The writer E. Jean Carroll is suing Trump for defamation and battery after she claims he raped her in the mid-1990s and then publicly said she was making the whole thing up. You can read more about that case here: bit.ly/3meJGzJ

The whole corrupt laden system needs to be destroyed from the inside out top to bottom. Characters are not being removed in this game. It is hard to tell who is on your team when actors are playing more and more characters everyday. Very difficult to keep score and have your favorite character prevail. And what happened is that American Voters got robbed of vital info to make their choice. It is this crime that led to Trump being declared winner of the 2016 Election. This is the crime that set up all subsequent crimes he committed while in power.

34 counts, not 34 crimes. The way the law works you can get multiple counts for the same crime. He falsified records (the crime) and the way he did it involved breaking up the payment into multiple parts. Every time he made one of those payments “counts”. Every time one of those payments was recorded for tax purposes is another count (that’s now at least 2 counts for every 1 payment, with multiple payments involved in the 1 crime of falsifying records).

The district attorneys are essentially the chief prosecutors of their respective districts. They administer the local government organization containing all the prosecutors and are themselves the prosecutors responsible for dealing with specific, important cases. (I think in some districts, the DA personally handles all murder cases). Crucially, they are also directly elected instead of being appointed. That said, it's important to remember that the US is a federation, and even within states there's a fair amount of decentralization. This means that exactly what a district attorney varies from district to district, but the fact that the district attorney is the chief prosecutor and is directly elected is pretty much the same everywhere.

We all know why they are going after Trump. It is because he is different and relatable. He is not your "typical politician" and I think he will win again. But hey, let's pretend we don't.

Actually, there's no proof he did it himself. He didn't pack his own boxes when he left the White House. Also, it is up to the National Archive group to make sure all boxes are gone through and classified materials are secured. Not the presidents job. Biden was busted for the same thing, so when is he being indicted. The payment to Stormy Daniels...who cares. The phone call to the politician in Georgia, he didn't tell him to do anything. He just said he needed so many votes to make it and that there should be a recount.
