And again in 70AD after a three and a half year seige, also consistent with biblical accounts.

The point is there is aprimative tribe in Mali called the Dogon who's oral history claims they are descended from Aliens who came to earth from a planet around Sirus. Sadly, it's not true 😢 Two German astronomers visited the tribe when they were taking measurements of Sirius. It was in the 1850's. The tribe recall who they were and what they told them. It's another "wedge of Iud" or whatever it was called. (The tooth of an excavator found in a Turkish quarry) It's a simple, yet disappointing explanation.

This is not what happened - they are known for having knowledge about the existence and orbital period of Sirius B which is not visible to the naked eye (while the better known Sirius A is) and was only confirmed by radio astronomy in the 1950's.

@effdiffeyeno171 Friedrich Bessel? I think he was one of the first people to accurately calculate the distance to Sirius but I don't recall he ever went to Africa to do so. Carl Sagan made the unsubstantiated claim since the theory of the dimmer heavier Sirius B companion star was known in Europe before the Dogan oral history was recorded and shared, missionaries or travelers could have relayed the theory to them and they incorporated it with their oral history because they liked it. But saying that is no different than saying anything is possible - there isn't conclusive evidence either way (that they were told, or found out some other way).

I'm about six weeks out of a significant medical situation that damn near killed me. I went in for a very common, low risk surgery and lost way too much blood. Had a medication reaction that was putting me in anaphylactic shock on top of the shock I was already in, the docs didn't realize it, and they kept pushing the med. For two days they kept crashing me until nurse figured out what tf was going on, put a stop to to the drug, and I got a blood transfusion. Apparently, that was enough to pull me a few inches from the edge, but not enough to be 'well' or 'okay.' Eleven days after hell started, I woke up with amnesia. I lost ten days of my life. The weird part is that I was awake, talking, and remembering everything throughout that entire time. On day nine, I remembered day one through eight no problem. Then it was all wiped out. If I'd had been in a coma, I think I could've handled that no problem. That's just a long sleep. But to not remember ten days where I was actively interacting with the world is so weird. I don't remember the ICU. I don't remember crashing over and over again. I don't remember the pain or the cold. It's all gone. When I 'woke up' I was hallucinating like a mother. Non-stop. I remember the exact moment when I figured out that I was hallucinating. A box that didn't exist. My husband pointed out that there was no box and that was my lightbulb moment. Found out later that this never happened. My husband never had that conversation with me. Also found out that I'd been hallucinating the entire time, I just didn't remember all that. I spent the next week doing reality checks and trying to ignore the hallucinations. They stopped after a few days, but I still didn't trust reality for awhile after. Having reality bent like shakes your foundation to your core. I've decided to accept it as a gift. From what I've been told, it sounds horrible. I don't want to remember all of that. But knowing that I was that close to the edge, and that I could've slipped over it without even realizing, is sobering. Life is freaking fragile. And a lot of it isn't even real. I don't know how much, but much more than I ever imagined. When the brain breaks, the most bizarre things happen. That's our inverter for translating reality into comprehension and it's the only reason we all agree on anything.

So it’s much simpler than that. The lamps in the movie are there to fake the night sky with all the stars. It’s logical to think that they are different lamps since the night sky has different stars by light intensity. It’s only logical to write the name of the specific star or a light source that you are trying to fake on the back of the lamp so you don’t mess up the night sky when changing a bulb. Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky and is part of the Canis Major constellation also known as K9 or literally a dog (canine). It’s an Easter Egg but not a terribly complicated one.

This just popped into my head, but I bet that the "Easter egg" is that that was a lamp that represented a real-world star. Canis Majoris is a star in the Sirius constellation. The number 9 is probably because there is multiple lights to represent 1 star (due to the distance they would be at, you would need several lights) and that just happened to be number 9. Just a thought.

...I have a Dog named Sirus. I named him after the Star. I just googled Canis Major.. In Greek mythology, CANIS MAJOR, represented the larger of the two dogs belonging to the great hunter Orion. The dog seems to be in the act of leaping after the Lepus the Hare, and because of his incredible speed, he was honoured by Zeus and placed in the heavens.

In context of the movie, it was a studio light that fell. I don't claim to have greater than average insight, yet mine seems to have surpassed yours in this case.

This was literally they asked an astrophysicist what stars would theoretically be directly overhead in the supposed location of Truman's town and picked the one they thought people would recognize out of 30 or so possibles.

Showing the name of a star on a light isn't an Easter egg, it's respecting your audience. This guy just doesn't know he isn't the audience they were talking to.

The light's label is for placement in Truman Show. The light is supposed to be where the star "Sirius" is supposed to be in the night sky

Sirius is the brightest star. The fact it was important to astrological societies is no surprise. The fact it was selected in this film, isnno surprise. As most people to name a few stars and youll get Sirius and North star a lot. The movie chose a relevant and familiar star. I don't think the producers were telling us about aliens.

I saw that movie when I was 9, then multiple time afterwards. I remember seeing the name Sirius (Canis Majorae) on the light and thinking it was clever, it informés us that they probably reproduced the actual night sky inside the dome. I was nine! This guy makes a freaking podcast about it, explains his discovery as if he had invented hot water or something

That may have been the moment when he starts finally seeing what’s going on. But I think the real Epiphany moment where he finally excepts exactly what’s being done to him is when his father just miraculously is brought back. And they don’t really explain it. They just figured he would accept it. But right afterwards, the cameras are just showing him calmly just eating cereal as if nothing earth shattering just happened. But really, you can tell he’s just thinking. Because it’s the only place where someone else couldn’t hear him he’s just in his own head.

It's not weird... the light canister fell from the sky because it would be lit up to be Sirius in the sky that Truman would see. Like, we look up and see constellations, but for him each was a light canister like that, except different sizes and brightness, I would hope, to keep things looking realistic. Only makes sense that each light canister would be marked as the star it is supposed to represent in Truman's night sky.

Truman show is an esoteric movie, it is a break behind the curtain which can be taken in many ways. One of the most important movies ever made.

There's a crackpot theory that an African tribe named the Dogons were visited by aliens coming from a planet orbiting Sirius. In reality, the Dogons were probably in contact with the Ancient Egyptians who did not come from Sirius but traveled using Sirius as a navigational beacon. You can easily see how this confusion evolved into their mythology.

Well it suggests to Truman that the stars, illuminations in the sky, arent real and why they labeled the device in that manner. I think a flat earth or dome model would also be needed to hang or attach all those contraptions and a constant source of energy to keep everything illuminated although with a dome the whole thing could be made into a planetarium so there would be no need to hang anything really but would still have to have constant power.

I think the idea of the Mandela Effect is how they have been trying out mind control for decades. There was a cornucopia in that logo. I remember when Mandela died "the first time". Some people will believe anything authorities tell them. I don't know if we live in a matrix, but I definitely believe the rulers direct things to make us believe or behave a certain way.

The two choices are to either try do something about it, or admit that something could be done and you’re not willing to put in the effort. I don’t know whether or not it’s impossible for us to salvage the bad things that are happening in the world right now, but unless you’re willing to give it a go yourself, then saying it’s a foregone conclusion is simply the coward’s way out.

It's clearly just the stars name that the light was in place of. The light was part of the constellation when Truman looked at the sky.

There was an interview with the director of the The Truman show during the movie where they talked about people who wanted to "free" Truman. The stage light falling right next to Truman like that could have been caused by one of those people. Just a thought.

I was a kid when this show came out and I was already...my brain was already clicking. The Truman show definitely did something to my brain I can't tell what. It taught me something. I can't put into words. I might just not be smart enough right now. But I do feel like this lesson gave me an edge growing up.

I just figured it was the name of the star that the light was impersonating

Sirius is also known as The Dog Star. I guess this light was one of thousands in the dome that lit up at night to be the stars in the heavens & somehow it broke loose and fell. Implying that this was the light that made Truman suddenly realize things were strange (like it was a bulb over his head/an idea) is a jump in logic. I mean there were multiple strange things happening that made Truman question his reality, not just this one light.

6 year old me noticed this easter egg for "very specific people"

So that's a specific constellation, and Sirius is a star that's in it,so that light was probably used during the "night" on the set as that specific star. Crazy attention to detail.
