This probably might explain why Applejack knows exactly what to do when fighting a chimera. After all she was forced to learn about how to fend on off in order to prevent something like what happened to her parents to happen again.

Except for the fact that Faust and the show writers never could agree on too many aspects of the show when discussing said show for me to place any credence on something that the creator may or may not have said. (Shown to not have been said by Faust by Stardust, btw) And when the show writers/VAs ect. ect. talk about this or that, some of the stuff they come up with is too outlandish to be taken seriously.

I love Lauren Faust but she no longer controls the canon of the show. And people need to come to terms with this.

I'm not really sure it would be exactly how they would die, but it does make sense why Applejack was worried when Applebloom did go off on her own. I feel if the Chimera was exactly how they died there would be a bit more intensity between it and Applejack as Applejack would certainly harbor a grudge against it. That being said the reason why Applejack is so overprotective of Applebloom because of their dead parents does make sense. Honestly I thought the episode is just fine. Though the idea the Apple Parents died while making a pie run is an interesting thought. As we've seen in the show there are lots of dangers in Equestria, and while the show didn't show it murder from a fellow pony is certainly an idea I have thought of. Highwaymen were real thing in history and it wouldn't be too far fetch to think Equestria might have some. At least that's a thought I have. The other way I thought they could have died was either a farm accident, or illness as those are two very realistic ways they could have died. I think Ink Rose or someone similar made a head cannon back in the day about it possibly being Timber Wolves from the Everfree Forest which isn't a unrealistic idea either. I don't think we'll ever know as I'm sure many people who worked on the show had their own idea how the Apple Parents died. Though I do wish they went into it a little deeper as kids are fully capable of understanding death and sympathizing with it. We all watched the Lion King or other such movies as a kid, and I had a few friends who lost people close to them as a kid and saw how it affected them. Luckily I never had to deal with the death of someone close to me as a child but it is something children deal with and I think it is healthy for kids to see that since it is just a reality we all have to face some time in our lives. Anyways good video.

I bet PearButter and BrightMac still watch their sweethearts from the pony equivalent of heaven. I certainly love the idea of the two watching their kids, ESPECIALLY Applebloom. AppleBloom had probably has been born only a few months before Pear Butter and BrightMac left for, the reason we do not know, and then died.

It's funny how you compare it to Lion King 2... when it's most famously from Shakespeare's "The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet", where Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet start a romance, even though the Montagues and Capulets have been feuding for generations, and both Romeo and Juliet end up dead.

This actually makes a lot of sense and it is what I think the writers were trying to tell us with the Princess Bride reference. It also makes Applejack's fear when she finds out that Applebloom went out into the fire swamp more real and tragic, as she knew that where her parents died and where Applebloom could even more easily die being a young filly by herself, unlike her parents who were not alone and adults but still died.

An interesting theory, but in the end, just a theory. I think that we will never truly know just what happened to Bear Butter and Bright Mac, whether or not they died, and if they did, how they died. I also suspect that is just how the show writers wanted it to be, so that many within the fandom would try coming up with their own ideas on what happened.

At first I though the episode "Somepony to watch over me" was kind of pointless, but now it actually could make a lot of sense. It also explains to what happened to Applejack's parents and why they're dead, because it's possible that creature that Apple Bloom encountered might indeed be the same creature that killed their parents. It would make a lot better sense if the MLP creators and writers could've just wrote this all in to explain why Applejack is overly protective of Apple Bloom, and it would explain to all of us as to why Applejack's parents are gone. Although it would've been too dark of an episode for young MLP fans to understand or even handle tragedy like that, and it would've probably scared kids if they done that. But I guess you never know until everything is explained.

I really like this theory and the way you tried to prove it and I'll take it for the truth!) But I also want to add that maybe Applejack's hyper-parenting was because she didn't want to lose another close family member, so she was trying to keep Applebloom out of ANY danger. And I understand her very much. My little dog died from the jaws of another dog when I was in the house and she was outside. It happened very quickly. My mom was watching her, but still, it was MY dog and I wasn't watching her. Ever since I got my new little dog, I don't even let her near the house dogs because I'm very afraid for her.

Yknow, I always figured Pear Butter died during childbirth. Applebloom is just a little more disconnected from her parents for me to think they were in her life even when she was little. Being that applejack looks to be around 10-12 when she gets her cutie mark and her parents aren't there to see her off when she leaves off before that, we can presume that her parents died recently. Especially since she's being sent away, i always assumed there was another reason and granny smith probably cant take care of a kid and a baby at that point in time, so she sent AJ off to discover herself when really it gave her time to mentally prepare for the task in front of her. During that time, theres no way Applebloom isn't a baby, considering the age difference between her and Applejack.

Watching this video after recently watching “Somepony watching over me” since I’m doing a series s theory makes a lot of sense for AJ’s behavior in that episode (heck even in Bridal gossip too with babying Apple Bloom). Now I will say there’s probably a good chance that any creature could’ve killed Bright Mac and Pear Butter in some tragic event, but honestly I dig this theory of them perishing on a pie run. Regardless, having their parents dead really makes sense for Applejack to be this way since she wouldn’t want the same to happen to anyone one of her family again.

i thought about it and while i enjoyed your thoughts and comments and think that might be the reason there is still many holes in your theory. first off why would they make ponies go and do that delivery knowing that the parents never came back from it? Also aj never would have thought to bring all the stuff she did if she didn't do this delivery before. and her parents would have known to bring all that too and another thing, the parents are tough and wouldn't go down without a fight and they would easily win against a fight with that thing and Timberwolves unless there was too many and aj wouldn't have to act out of character to teach the lesson of that episode. i have more reasons but i don't want to type it all out because i'm lazy. i know this is just your opinion.

If that's the case, then, in hindsight, it would've been more effective if this episode came after their parents' debut. Like, imagine how more effective it would've been if this episode came after and, when AJ ran out with the equipment needed to fight the chimera, there would be a shot of a hanging picture of their parents? Hell, you probably don't even need that, just put this episode after Pear Butter and Bright Mac's episode and people will put two and two together. If that's what they did, then this episode probably wouldn't have received half the amount of backlash as it did because it would fully explain why AJ was freaking the hell out. (It does leave the question why they would even choose to go down a route that led to their parents' demise anyway. There's gotta be another way to the village without crossing paths with the chimera.)

This is probably wrong but... I feel like it was those buttercups that killed them. I remember reading somewhere that buttercups are poisonous to goats and horses which made me think that Bright Mac and Pear Butter being around so many of those flowers may have lead to their health deteriorating over time which eventually lead to their demise. That or I'm completely wrong idk.

Okay so from other comments its confirmed but heres the thing that doesnt make sense In the video the episode you mentioned "some one to lend me a hand" (correct the episode name if incorrect) was in season 4 wayy long before season 7 and in season 7 "the pefect pear" when apple bloom shows the pear stuff to apple jack apple jack then hides it and when apple bloom asks why she doesn't have any idea how could she know how to fight the creature if she had no idea about her parents? And maybe some may be asking "Oh but maybe she knew about her mother but didnt know she was a pear" Im not sure when apple jacks parents died but im assuming when she was filly or baby how could she been taught how to fight if she was that small and how could she even remember? Maybe she was told about it?? That doesn't really make sense. Ill might add more tomorrow since its pretty late in my time. Feel free to correct me about this!

They could’ve had been that old right so let me get this right they died when they gave birth to Apple Bloom land applejack and big Mac so it’s possible that they might’ve not been that premature. I don’t know where they died from. They never really specified in the show, they kept it ambiguous I believe they diet from tuberculosis or some type of illness, this is a speculations and all 🙂

I think the better question here is, if that is the way they died then why the heck are they still making that delivery route. You've got plenty of potential customers, no need to take the insanely dangerous trip where your parents died.

@@_adaline Really? Oh wow. I wish ya luck then. There are like 9 Seasons to G4, and each season has about 26 episodes at average. And lots of Equestria Girls spin offs that is directly connected to G4. There are 4 movies in EQ Girls and more than 11 specials. G4 MLP itself also have a movie as well. And if you are fan of continuity spin offs, G5 is a thing and it's also connected to G4 currently a movie and 8 episodes and 1 episodes for main series and like about 10 episodes of the side series. I wish ya luck grinding on this show. It took me about 10 years to finish the show at live and extended year to catch up to G5. I haven't watched all of the Equestria Girls Special yet I think? Unless I did but like I couldn't keep track.
