The True Story of Quanah Parker The Last Chief Of The Comanches

The True Story of Quanah Parker The Last Chief Of The Comanches - Escaping The Mouse - ETM-640
I found an interesting historical marker commemorating a massacre that took place more than a hundred years ago, but when I dug into the story, I discovered a far more interesting story.

Mr. Rowell, I think you would enjoy reading, "Empire of the Summer Moon: Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches, the Most Powerful Indian Tribe in American History". Written by S.C. Gwyenne.

Great info. Thanks for taking the time to dig deeper. Just wanted to say though that Comanches weren’t Indian. That was a mistake that some explorer made, who thought they had landed in India. We know better now. ♥️🇨🇦

amung us Comanche it is debatable if Kwana was the "last chief" i. But there was a council of elders and not just one person which many is usually told as Kwana as the last chief and we also have no reservation to our own because we never surrendered. So much history that is gone from the Indigenous... but great video. Thanks for doing this. I had family there as well as Ishate(cousin). the Kwahadi is translated to the Antelope People.

Thankyou Breck so much for this vlog. Although Australian, I've always be fascinated by the Indian culture of native Americans. I appreciate the immense research on your part here & have learnt a lot. It would be nice if one day you could take us all on a tour to the fort Breck, as we don't have anything like that in South Australia. Thank you again & kind regards from Adelaide, South Australia.

As a native Texan you should read the book Empire of the Summer Moon. By S. W. Gwyneth. Many of my family members were born in the Republic of Texas that being the case many were killed by Comanches.

Interesting! This is one of my many favorite historical events (the Cynthia/Quanah story). Its a shame the fort wasn't open that day, but i enjoyed your exploring outside, the stones and monuments, etc.

That is the actual fort. It was not relocated. Silas parkers grave is inside. There's a friendly caretaker there during business hours. He'd gladly let you in. No charge but donations help keep things running.
