So proud of her when my daughter has children I will remember to tell my grandchildren about this lady. My mom use to do this with me when I was growing up. Tell me about positive black community. Love the video 😍

Carolyn Gardner , Anna Malone did train Madam Walker - that’s true.... but Madam Walker had it together , she was a talented saleswoman and Ms. Malone sure didn’t teach her talent. She was selling before they met...And the other thing was Ms. Malone only wanted light skin women selling for her. That’s why Madam Walker quit, she wanted a chance, to sell, and when she wasn’t given one she made her own hair care line. Madam Walker made it clear to her customers all black women were beautiful! Because we are ALL beautiful, every shade!. Having less melanin doesn’t mean a thing! Best believe that! 👼🏿👼🏾👼🏽👼🏼. I’d be interested to know about the formula theft... where’d you find that info? Thank you! 💜🙏🏾☮️

What a wonderful woman. As she did well, she helped others. I think she is typical of the sort of person whose statue should be in cities around the world. Its such a shame that some of the things she fought against are still happening today. Its a shame also that she died so young, but her legacy lived on.
She is the reason I went to hairdressing school! She was hugely important to the industry.
What on earth would possess anyone to give this remarkable account of a remarkable woman a thumbs down?

That style of building estates for the elite is very prevalent in the south of Europe: Portugal, Spain and Italy in buildings from the 1700's and 1800's. So I can only imagine it being copied or used as inspiration for many architects since then. In other words; there's probably a lot of buildings around the world that look similar ;-).
My mother had one of these irons and I used it too in the early 80's 🙂 you had to have the magic touch to press the hair without burning it 😉
A true trail-blazer! "Self Made" on Netflix is a movie about her life. Loved your video...thank you

I did a history project on her in 7th grade. It was black history month and I was determined to find a story worth telling that nobody had ever heard of. EVERYbody did the SAME people for every project MLK, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, Fredrick Douglas, Paul Robeson, Nikki Giovanni, Maya Angelo etc. She was a hit! Next assignment I did Jan Matzelegar....inventor of the shoe making machine and Ulysses Grant....performed first open heart surgery. History projects were never the same after that at our school....more people were given recognition not just the regulars.

Wow you certainly find stories of people’s lives I’ve never heard of till now. Sarah certainly did well for herself, especially considering the times she lived in. What a fascinating story!
What a life CJ Walker had. Certainly an inspiration to everybody no matter where you come from. Especially because from what I can gather from this short account of her life, she continuously tried to help the black community and especially black women to have better possibilities in life. I really hope she was content on her deathbed ... although with her gusto she probably thought she had more to do :D.
Wow! What an amazing woman!! Did so many life-changing things and if only she could see what her work and dedication produced!!! I admit I knew of Mme C.J Walker, but now I KNOW I really knew nothing!!! This was such a great and knowledgeable video. I really enjoyed it.

I've had the honor to perform in the historic and famous Mad C. J. Walker Theatre. She had it built to draw her favorite jazz musicians to our stuffy city, and it was quite successful in creating a thriving jazz scene here, in Indianapolis, during the first half of the 20th century along with her many other achievements. Hoorah Hooray for Madam Walker a true visionary!
What I find inspirational is the way they dress, even the rakish angles of their hats. It just goes to show that even if you're poor & struggling, you can still have your clothes beautifully pressed, accessorise well, don a great hat and voila, you look classy! I'm very proud!

A motivational video for sure! What an inspiration! What's totally amazing is that she was not just colored, she was a woman who are not even granted the right to vote until August 1920 and blacks were given the right to vote in 1965. Madam CJ Walker was able to accomplish her success before all that day and age. She's marvelous! Thank you for all the wonderful videos! Much respect from katrinka, San Francisco Bay Area🌴
