He and Oliver both have some things in common: They are saved from scrap and they’re the first standard gauge tank engines to be built from brass.

I love the Britt Allcroft sue story. Stepney existed for 110 years before the show even came into production, & 70 years before the first book. She'll outlive all of Thomas & Friends if the Bluebell treat her as always they have done - with care & respect - unlike the character's model.

He would always cause “accidents” that resulted in him covered in the stuff. “Fuddy-duddies!” he would say. “I can always quite tomorrow!” But he couldn’t! It wasn’t until years later that we discovered that Mattel’s abusive behavior towards Stepney was the catalyst for his addiction.

I believe I heard somewhere, and keep in mind I am not a lawyer, but I heard that it was the Britt Alcroft Company that sued the bluebell railway after Britt herself told the company legal team not to do it because, well the real life locomotive was built in something like 1872 and she knew how it would turn out. As far as funny lawsuits go, that’s up there with Greenpeace suing itself after Robert Hunter left.

Stepney fell to the same fate as Edward and Henry sadly

I have a third theory; someone took the model and left it at the Bluebell Railway museum, possibly as a sort of karmic justice for the show retconning the real life engine and railway to be entirely from the fictional Sodor. Where it I at the museum, I dunno', but if anyone spotted it, I'd think they'd keep the secret as 'Stepney belongs on the Bluebell Railway; not Sodor'

Stepney is the reason why #55 is one of my favorite numbers.

He did appear in Tracy Ullman’s music video on Move Over Darling. I find it to be unexpectedly symbolic, imo, and I fell in love with the fact.

aw man my favourite railway series book as a kid was stepney the bluebell engine. I think my copy was from the seventies, which would make sense for my siblings' ages lol

Stepney unfortunately winded up in the same category as BoCo, becoming a forgotten character over time & should have been featured in more classic series tv episodes from seasons 5-7. Stepney has an interesting background story and Bachmann trains should produce an ho scale model replica of Stepney in the future.

Now Stepney has a fascinating and confusing history between the real world and the fantasy world of the island of sodor, mainly the original TV series. Of course I have seen some videos of the real life Stepney locomotive from the real Blue Bell Railway, and let me tell you the locomotive itself is fascinating. And also I have the book, The Railway Series book Stepney the Bluebell engine. In some ways I think they should rebooting Stepney himself, if the character gets another chance in CGI animation. And of course the stories should be based in the main like from The Railway Series book itself, and maybe with one more storyline edition loosely based on the episode Stepney gets lost. I'm glad that when they did the CGI Thomas series, they decided to have real life locomotives such as the flying Scotsman to cross over with Thomas and all of his friends in the island of sodor. And at that time I was hoping and waiting if Stepney can be part of the territory, and rebooted at the same time. With a rebooted introduction, if they were to make a another Thomas movie, based in the main of the Railway Series book Stepney the Blue Bell engine. And if the ending of the movie could have Stepney to get lost, and the two diesels Arry and Bert would almost scrap him. And of course Sir Topham Hatt would stop everything, so Stepney wouldn't get scrapped. And that we would see Sir Topham Hatt scold Arry and Bert for trying to scrap and almost kill Stepney. And I think it were to be nice if Thomas were to help Stepney to escort him out of sodor, all the way back to the real life Blue Bell Railway. If another CGI Thomas movie could have been made like that, the ending of the movie could have had a storyline loosely based on the episode Stepney gets lost from season 5. Even though Mattel now owns the rights to Thomas, and they're going to do the show in to the animation. Generally I believe the 2D show is going to be a disaster, and so if the producers return to CGI animation. Someday I hope there will be another Thomas and Friends movie, with a complete reboot and introduction of Stepney. And that the CGI Thomas & Friends movie can be called Stepney the Blue Bell engine, with the entire movie based in the main of the original storybook from The Railway Series written by the Rev W Awdry. And that the ending of the movie would be added a storyline, based rather loosely of the episode Stepney gets lost from the original Thomas series of season 5. I just hope that Stepney can return, but in CGI form not 2D animated form. Because if they rebooted Thomas and the other characters in CGI animation, with the adventures begin. And that the movie was based and loosely based on the first two Railway series books, The Three Railway Engines and Thomas the Tank Engine. Then I hope they can do it again, by rebooting the introduction of Stepney in CGI animation. and that they should make a whole movie out of it, based in the main of Stepney the Blue Bell engine from The Railway Series books. And with a storyline at the end of the movie based rather loosely from the episode Stepney gets lost from season 5 of the original Thomas series. I also hope to see Stepney to help Toby and Mavis shunt Freight cars at the quarry at the end of Thomas's Branch line, at some point in the middle of the movie instead of at the end before Stepney gets lost. And that Thomas should also help out with three of them at the quarry as well. I really hope something like this can happen someday, if they reboot and reintroduce Stepney
