Thanks for the effort to show as accurate as possible this information. For those who are watching or reading, cost of living will be much higher in Berlin compare to Dusseldorf, for example. As it has been shown in the video comparing rents among the cities. Also food here has increased I would say like 30%

The prices mentioned in the video are very accurate.. I am living in Stuttgart since July 2022.. Rent is a little higher and everything else it perfectly matching my expenses..

Would be super if you can make a video about you campervan and how you built it, where is it legal to park it, how do you plan your Roadtrips and find where to camp, etc :)

Prices is US have gone up roughly by 40% between 2019 and 2023 in Boston.

Just a reminder to everyone, life doesn't usually sum up to basics, specially if you get somewhat more than that as a couple. Me and wife live up to about the standards showed in video and in Berlin we easily spend around 1k above than the girls in the video. Clothes, food, take out, restaurants, gifts, etc etc it is very very easy to spend more monthly.

Jen and Yvonne are doing a terrific job providing current and future immigrants with as much useful information as they can. It would be impossible to include every place and situation anybody might be interested in. They have given a good overall view of current costs in some cities, which gives you a good clue on what to expect in comparable cities. At the end of the day you will have to find out for yourself anyway. Good luck!

Depends where you are living. We are on the countryside and you can find small apartments for 300-400 Euros (+ Nebenkosten). Plus you can easily park in front of the house for free, have clean air and a calm environment.

I think the numbers are pretty accurate for most of the categories, but unfortunately not for the rent 😢 We moved to Hamburg half a year ago and 1000 for 1-bedroom in the city center is absolutely unreal, it’s 1500 minimum. I spend a couple of months searching for one (as many of my co-workers as well), so I’m sure about that :) I think it could be that the people adding data to numbeo put the price for 1-room apartment instead or have had their contracts for many years. The prices and the demand are insane and growing literally every month

I'm a graduate student from the US, and it has definitely gotten quite expensive, with wages not rising so much. It's very difficult to build an emergency fund when living hand to mouth :/

I have more fixed expenses in Germany, but flexible expenses in the US can be awful (think getting sick, injured, the works). Rent in my town is a fraction of what it was in the US, but I also make far less money. Close to 50% of my US wage

@@tharinduwimalaweera3604 1- salary depends on what you do. It really isn't clear cut, especially with the chaos in the current job market. I recommend creating a shortlist of companies and applying even if you don't intend on taking the job, just to get a feel for it. 2- you can't just average between cities in different states where the tax laws and living costs vary so greatly. You'll have to pick out specific cities and analyze for yourself. 3- I've been in Germany for hardly 3 months, so I don't have enough points of data to give you that information. But over all, the US has far less bureaucracy and red tape. I actually intend on returning to the US after I get my PhD, so there's that.

Much needed update. Thank you!! So I'm underway with my retraining program, as well as close to my German B1 exam and a lot of things are happening at the same time. (To which I feel very good and driven.) This SIMon which Yvonne uses, I've been keen on this idea since she first mentioned it, quite some time ago, but does it give you information on how much data have you been using? For example on a weekly basis or when you reach 2GB or 5GB? Maybe a dumb question, but I'm so used with unlimited data usage for years, and it won't be the case in Germany.

That’s actually quite awesome from my perspective. Let me explain, I am an Israeli and I also have a German citizenship and Israel is actually much more expensive in a lot of the cities while wages are actually the same more or less.I think that for a single person, Germany is much cheaper than Israel. And that is after the increase in inflation. Anyway, it seems like Germany is a livable country

Livable is a good word. But you can't really "make it" so to speak. Germany(and most of Europe) does a great job at keeping people down. Just look at what Lawyers, Doctors, Engineers, programmers and other well paid professions etc. make in Germany vs the US, most of them double, with comparable living costs. If you have a low skill job it's a bit better living in Germany, otherwise US wins.

@@simplegermany Thanks for quick response :) Ikea definitely has good desks, but sturdy solid wood option os over 500-600 euro mark for standing desk. 160x80cm dimensions I would be happy if i can find it around 300 euros. Kaufland has 170 euro option which is not sturdy but a good value in that range. However, ikea does not have very good chairs, decent but not the best if we compare them to secretlab titan evo or autonomous ergopro chair. I might be biased as well, what are your views?

With the numbers you are giving we get a sum of 3500 net 😇. This roughly estimates a 70.000 gross salary. Depending on experience level and industry that is a very realistic salary and depending if there are two incomes or one in the family that offers a good life. It all depends on perspective, circumstance and lifestyle.

No it’s not. Beer in general is really good quality and quite cheap. The rest it depends on your preference ☺️. Also, cleaning products have a big range of prices - depending on the quality.

My pediatrician mother who had worked 35 years, earns 1100 euros per month, my gynecologist surgeon 50 years being worked father earns net pension of 1300 euros per month. My Metu alumni smaller brother , also 3 years studied Metu Masters of Computer Engineering drop out brother earns 1100 euros per month in Ankara Turkey at age 43 , single, childless, owns his own brand New renovated apartment. He lives in 1994 model apartment 3 plus 1 , 130 square meters area and very nice views of Metu, Bilkent University and Hacettepe University Ankara. We had never renovated our apartments with those wages and pensions.

I think the expenses for food can differ quite a lot. We pay around 230 Euros per month for two people. As a single I spent 60-70 Euros at the end of 2022.

I loved pizza and spaghetti, so I usually bought 5-6 pizzas when they were on discount and had 1-2 packages of spaghetti (the one including the tomate source) in the house. One time a week I got something from the bakery, 1-2 days I cooked some rice and added vegetables. Now I'm married and my wife loves to eat fresh food. So our expenses have increased a bit. The other extreme would be my university time: As a student I usually bought a 3-pack of pizzas for less than 2 euroes, which was enough for 3 days :-D

How to find a apartment in Berlin before coming to study?

Bremerhaven is very affordable. Yes I know it doesn't have the best reputation but it is super affordable and it's really nice city with lots of shopping outlets and very good transport links because it is a port city. Lots of good places to walk around by the sea (long walking paths) and the Wesser Dyke. You can also buy an apartment there (2 bedroom) easily for under 190K.

For Home internet, I had taken the same Vodafone 39.9 Euro per month 1000 mbps. While choosing this, it was promised it will stay this price for lifetime. However, now I have received an email from Vodafone that they have increased price to Euro 44.9 per month. Can I challenge them for increase? Also, did the same happen to you?

İ had earned after those educations in Turkey , 450 euros to 500 euros per month net income after working 6 Days full time per month 25 years, 5500 workdays, visiting 35 countries in all around the world, i had been pensioner with 460 euros net per month. İ have been staying at the newest downtown of Ankara, Turkey, during winters , i pay 100 euros on heating 200 square meters apartment, 40 euros on electricity, 10 euros for water usage at apartment, 10 euros on unlimited internet. Rent of the 17 years old apartment , 4 plus 1 , 200 sq meters area apartment is 600 euros per month. Barber cost is 3.5 euros per month. Meals cost per month per family member is 450 euros per month.İ , my brother, my mother, my father cannot purchase any New cars so we use and drive 1998 model VW, Mercedes e 200, Honda, Hyundai SUV. Engineer net wage in Turkey is averagely 900 euros per month.Even Head of Turkey State's net income per month is 5200 euros as disposable income.

Shy do u people always skip Köln ... u are related to Bonn and dussaldorf but still Köln is the bigger then them both and holds lot more people then this cities and ur videos will be more relatable to west part if u add köln and skip smalller cites like u do
