The Truck Market Finally COLLAPSED. And Buyers are DONE Overpaying!

I traveled to several dealerships to show you guys what current inventory and easily identifiable discounts look like. Not only are interest rates super high right now but MSRPs have gotten out of control. Thankfully many of the dealers are finally coming back down to Earth on their pricing below MSRP.

I was once buying a vehicle from a stealership and the guy at the closing table handed me a card for "FREE" oil changes for a year I think it was. I said I live too far away and won't be driving here for a "FREE" oil change and do them myself anyway. He said well take it anyway, you never know. When I was going over the paper work there was a $400 fee with some strange verbiage. I was like, what is this $400 for? He said some stupid stuff and said everyone pays that. I was like What is it for? over and over until he finally said it was for the "FREE" oil changes. I was like take it off or I'm walking. We went back and forth and I should have just walked but I was like an hour and a half in the process and they finally took it off. What a scummy way to do business.

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 And a good point on your part 😃👍 I always thought of MSRP as a starting point for negotiations. I guess it’s a retail price, not the price anyone would think of paying. The manufacturer has to put some price out there, and they are, of course, in business to make money. The bottom line, with exceptions, like entry level base model cars etc., is that if a buyer pays MSRP, the dealer is making way too much profit that is totally unfair to the customer. Essentially gouging.

No, nope not at all and especially for a mid trim truck or a pickup to begin with. I think they need really need to look at their pricing and packaging. I've said it many times before. Think about it like this. These manufacturers take a fair bit of money to make these cars so there’s a reason they are going to be expensive with or without the markups. But it also does come down to who will buy those cars for those inflated prices because the only reason they would mark them up is if they feel like someone will pay the added amount for that variant of car. Which is exactly why people not buying it did the exact opposite and I think that’s why we see the market starting to decline. We are the biggest advocates for the prices. What we are willing to spend and what we are willing to live without makes the market what it is. Agree or disagree. The proof is literally right there lol

Where every car has a bottom dollar price and below MSRP, and many even showed low interest rates as well. But because this type of video I literally title and cover photo basically the exact same (with subtle photo differences) I don’t know which one it was without clicking through them, lol. 😅 I loved my two Tacomas, but for my needs I find Subaru is a better vehicle and value. I have lots of Subaru videos and reviews on my channel.

Hey, Thanks for some good info. I liked the format and I'm looking forward to your next video. Hopefully we'll see some trends indicating a price rollback by dealership says as well as the manufacturers. You're right. Prices have come down but only slightly. These guys used the pandemic and it's impact on supply to jack up prices. But so did the manufacturers. Yeah the dealerships marked vehicles up over MSRP and many nitwit customers are to blame for encouraging this behavior by actually paying those exorbitant markups. So now when you look around at the landscape, new vehicle MSRPs are obscene and used car prices are terribly inflated as well. The $3,000 to $8,000 discount that we are now beginning to see is nowhere near enough. I think the effect of inflation on food, energy, mortgage rates, rent, gasoline, you name it, is beginning to finally wake people up. I believe many people are digging in their heels and they're not going to be purchasing a new car anytime soon. Let these guys all sit on their huge floor plans and think about all the years and all of the people that they have gleefully ripped off ! Thanks again

I found a Chevy 2500 HD from one of the good years, 06, for $10,600. With tires, stereo, and topper, the total price was under $17k. I’ve put 10k miles on it in 4 1/2 months. Not only are these discounts still not enough for consumers to buy, but inflation in the past 3 years plus decline in our economy is preventing most Americans from buying a new vehicle. I have over 5 buddies that are ready to buy new cars, but they rather stick with their current vehicles and hoping that price will drop in the next three years. But based on our economy and how supply and demand goes, these crazy high prices seems to be the new norm moving forward. if you look at all the new 2025 vehicles coming out, they are increasing them by $5K to $15K MSRP versus the previous year models.
