People are DITCHING Toyota for this…

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

People are leaving Toyota for Nissan. The once wildly popular Toyota Tacoma has left people underwhelmed with its recent changes for the 2024 model year. The 4th generation Toyota Tacoma has been a huge disappointment for enthusiasts. Because of that, people are jumping ship. They’re leaving Toyota and going to the Nissan Frontier. Or the Titan. The Pro4X trim is much better bang for your buck compared to the new Tacoma that averages around $50K. The fully loaded naturally aspirated V6 Frontier is around $44-45K and that’s before the Nissan dealer discounts it $5-7K. With the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Trailhunter costing upwards of $65K, people are feeling a little taken advantage of.
Nissan Frontier and Titan still offer that “old school” feel in and out. All while giving us solid, reliable options for a fair price point. What do you think? Would you take the 2024 Nissan Frontier Pro4X over a new 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport or TRD Off Road? How about the Nissan Titan over the new Tundra? No engine failures with the Nissan. =]
As always, I appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos! If you found any value, please consider Liking and Subscribing! Your support means a lot, thank you!

As a once proud "Toyota fanboi", I gotta say the prices have gotten ridiculous and obscene - and just not worth it. And the fact that Mexican assembly gives the Tacoma buyer ZERO price reductions...well that's just wrong.

@redjay1689: Like all other vehicles since 2020, the Nissan is priced a bit high - just not when compared to Tacoma. And it's true that your Nissan dealer is far more likely to appreciate your business and come off of the price listed on his lot. Toyota acts like they're doing you a favor selling you a vehicle. I do wish Nissan would've kept both the 4 cyl. option and the manual transmission option - though the 9-speed automatic seems to be proven at this point.

Absolutely genius, keeping their naturally aspirated V6, and not jumping on the turbo bandwagon. I have a paid off 22 Tacoma 4X4 that I bought knowing that the turbos were coming in 24. 10600 miles on it probably keep it for a long time. The service rep is so cool as we have dealt with him for years and he admitted they are having so many issues with the new Tundras and sales are way down, they have flushed out so many things from those engines. He knows we would have bought a brand new Sienna for my wife and I was going to take her 17 SE but with the sky high prices and no one having them in stock we are just slowly waiting till a used SE comes on sale in the future, we don't NEED it thankfully. I'd jump on the Nissan truck wagon if we needed a Truck for sure. The only way Toyota will ever listen is when their sales crash and Nissan's skyrocket.

Nissan would really be aware of their fanbase if they put a cab on the back of this Frontier generation and created the 3rd gen Xterra. Theyre completely missing the offroad SUV segment and the Xterra and Frontier have always shared the same chassis. I love my ‘24 Pro-4X though and my 2011 Titan swapped Xterra. Toyotas: nine since 2000, 1.5 million miles. My first problem in 24 years- my AC went out in my 2016 Highlander. Went to Toyota dealer in Fort Myers, FL, , got a price of $4,000 to replace compressor. Said-no. Waited a week, asked for another price: $3,000, said NO… Waited another week, in FL, then they phoned, they can do it for $2,000,:which is the avg cost. They offered me $12,000, on a trade. They had the same year, same Highlander miles, lessee model, on their lot for $21,000….. done with Toyota. Trubo, 4cyl, complicated hybrids, high priced, green credits: been a good run. Here are the reasons I've written the Tacoma off from my shopping list despite wanting a Toyota truck for most of my life: 1. Price - It's too high. Can I afford it? Yes...but do I want to pay what a 2B/2B townhome cost us in 2008 for a depreciating asset? Absolutely not. Especially when you consider it has.... 2. Poor build quality. The Mexico plant hasn't gotten their stuff together yet. I could accept a few minor issues but the problem is that Toyota has.... 3. Poor dealer experience. All of my local Toyota dealerships are simply awful to buy from and have service done. I suspect that on a newer vehicle with much newer tech I'll be using my warranty a lot more, and after reading a lot the horror stories from recent Tundra owners online it makes me believe that Toyota has... 4. Questionable reliability. I've had a number of Toyotas. Most have been good, but not all of them. The new engine's reliability is unproven, and the build quality of the Tundra engine was terrible. I simply can't say for certain that Toyota is the torchbearer of reliability anymore. Even if it is, I still don't like the.... 5. Cheap feel: The interior is full of rock hard plastics, and a design that feels like it belongs in a video game. I wasn't impressed by the limited models interior either. Also they're loud on the highway. Not as bad as a Corolla circa 2014-15, but still loud. I know that's a personal thing. But what isn't subjective is the... 6. Missing features compared to the competition: It may not apply to most people, but I benefit from AUTO / AWD modes like on the Colorado, Canyon, Ridgeline, and Ranger. It's useful to me. Even if it had it though, one last thing that bothers me is the... 7. Towing squat: What is it with Toyota trucks and squatting far more than their rivals when towing the same weight? I tow a boat once or twice a week. I shouldn't need a weight distributing hitch for an 18' bass boat. I'm going to be fair and say there are elements of the Tacoma I really like. I think it looks good. I like the bed. I'm not opposed to a hybrid if it's reliable. Toyota sub components, in my personal experience, have been more reliable then other brands. But also see 3 again if something does break.

It's not just engine and quality control issues. It's also Toyota management issues, and test reporting issues. I was going to purchase a Lexus LC500, I think I will wait or research other vehicles.

I’m one of “those” people. Turned in my 21 TRD Off Road for 24 Pro4X decked out with every option they offer. Including even an illuminated door sill. Made the change for all the reasons you described and I hadn’t even considered the Nissan until I was floored by the Tacoma price and started shopping around. Nissan was a no brainer.

And here's the thing; I own the previous Gen Frontier (4.0L V6) and my truck goes like stink. It's quicker than dammit. The current Gen 3.8L V6 is rated some 30hp higher than mine, so I can only assume it flies.

What I've noticed at every dealership I've been to is that they mark up the price by adding dealer installed options that no consumer has requested! If there are any dealership installed options that you didn't request and the dealer says they can't be removed, REFUSE to pay for them and DO NOT buy that vehicle!!!! Dealership add-ons are certainly an option for YOU to decide whether or not you want them! It is NOT a decision the dealership gets to make on your behalf, attempting to force you to purchase them!!!! DON'T be a sucker and fall for this b.s. from any dealership! YOU decide what you want or don't want when you're in the finance part of the transaction! If any dealership will not remove the add-ons that you didn't OK, get up and leave! You can go to Cosco and order your brand new vehicle with everything you want or don't want and completely avoid dealing with these forced up-sells! Cosco is one place, and I'm sure some credit unions have a buying service to avoid the dealerships. You may have to wait 3 or 6 weeks, but it's worth the wait to avoid known deceptions at dealerships who partake in these scams....Know the values of anything you're interested in prior to going to any dealership. Go to kbb.com or n.a.d.a. and know those retail values. If any dealership is asking over those retail values and won't negotiate down to those retail values, then leave and try out a buying service like Costco or inquire at your bank or credit union. For instance, we're in San Diego, and a buying service found the vehicle my mom wanted about 100+ miles away in Riverside at a new vehicle dealership that didn't play these games. It was over $3,000 less and was worth the drive! Wouldn't you drive 200 miles, round trip to save $3,000? I did, and I would do it again and again! You are not limited to your local dealerships with a buying service....Look into this before you pull the trigger on any vehicle....Your time is worth money so make it count and 100% avoid dealership add-on mark-ups that you didn't agree to!!!! Enough is enough, and dealerships continuing this bait and switch tactic will learn the hard way with inventory stuck on their lots that won't sell!!!!
