@@MsHolli09 I mean, knowing anything about mythology makes the original story make sense lmfao. Zeus takes the audience into danger, kind of so he can show off and defeat Poseidon in front of them because Zeus. Then he saves them because it's something to do. TBH if they were keeping it close to mythology, Zeus probably would have left the audience to die and had one of his many children save them instead... When I went on this experience last, the guide Taylor made one of the best meta-jokes I’ve ever heard. When they shone the UV light on the wall and found the hidden writings, he said “Look! A hidden message! Written... in English... conveniently.” I’d been on it several times and not heard that, but that last time they made that joke and I couldn’t stop giggling through the rest of the show

Disney wisely decided against doing the Haunted Mansion as a walkthrough attraction because they feared that guests would “linger” too long. Also, the “doombuggys” control where the rider’s attention is focused so Disney can concentrate all the best effects in one place during each scene. Poseidon’s Fury should have been a boat ride.

corey mason, so did I. I can't remember where I saw something like this but it brought back the earliest memories of visiting a theme park. I saw something similar when I was a kid and it also had a host who did live performances in the room with the guests. I think it was about ancient Mexican/Mayan history and we had to walk through a massive life size temple but I know it was not at a Disney park. I went to Universal Orlando last month and this attraction brought back a few of my oldest vacation memories. This memory was probably from one of the very first family vacations I could remember!

One time, years ago, my wife let our the worst fart of her life towards the end of the queue for this. It was completely enclosed, far away from the entrance. Everyone in that room was visually disturbed. My wife was laughing hysterically, which everyone of course noticed. So who are they going to blame, my small not even 6 ft wife, or the big 6 ft 3 fatty next to her. ME OF COURSE!! People were pointing at me in absolute disgust. I just hope the little girl at ass height behind my wife recovered, because she took the most damage.

The original story was very good, but the final room left you wondering what was going on. the updated story didn’t make any sense based on original layout. Once the waterway was discontinued, it was no longer worth exploring. But the building itself is awesome. They could totally turn this into something of value, but people don’t want to stand for 45 minutes. I say gut and Re-theme the inside with a sit down dark boat ride.

Although it would be cool to see this attraction be replaced by a Zelda themed one, this concept is just too good to not at least give a new spin on. (But a Breath of the Wild version of the concept would be cool. The temple facade could be changed to Hyrule castle, instead of finding the trident , you’d have to find the master sword and the final battle could be an epic showdown between Link and Calamity Ganon)

I would walk through that attraction just to watch people's faces at the end, just looking at the confusion as to how it ended.

Ironically, I've heard that the water vortex tunnel is actually the thing keeping Poseidon's Fury together, in more ways than one. Not only is it the star effect of the show, but it may actually be too expensive to remove from the area and too delicate to build a new attraction around. They wanted the latest tech for what they believed would be a headliner attraction, and that tech may actually have turned into an anchor for an old but awesome classic attraction.

I saw the Goddard version of this attraction in 2012 and loved it. Was it state of the art? Definitely not, but the cheesy script and acting was amusing, Taylor having a conversation with the obviously pre-recorded video of Darkenon was hilariously awkward, the musical score was gorgeous, and the original special effects still worked like a charm. That Oracle Door and water tunnel were amazing, and the room changing around me before my eyes was magical. My glasses fogging up while I stayed dry while walking through the tunnel added to the fantasy of the attraction. Definitely well worth the 20 minutes it took to experience.

honestly, i personally love this attraction. Going over from the UK i love the use of its effects, especially using the big blinder to cause peoples eyes to adjust, meaning they wont see the walls moving up. A lot of people say it should be a boat ride, or that it should be a roller coaster or stuff like that but i personally like the change of pace from all of the other rides. there are more than enough rollercoasters and boat rides in Orlando, let alone in the world, and there are just so few fully immersive rides like this one is. Realistically, i would call it a promenade theatre show since it involves you walking between different specially built sets to tell the story (which is basically the definition of a promenade show) and at the end of the day, promenade shows simply aren't for everyone. the majority of negative reviews i have seen are never about the experience itself but people complaining that they had to walk around. To be honest i could right a full 2 page review on this show. in fact i did. i had to write a review on a show to get into my university (as a lighting technician) and i chose this ride as it has really stuck with me. honestly the only thing i even think is comparable for this type of attraction is the Alton Towers dungeons but even on that the boat ride to me just feels a bit out of place with nothing much happening of any relevance. If this were to go i would be very sad, to put it simply. especially if they removed the expanding room effect.

My sister and I went on it kind of as a joke, but I was taken aback by its very distinct late 90s Universal charm. The scene where the room lifts to reveal the water stage blew me away ( I think I may have gasped "Holy shit" a bit too loud for being at a family park) and the end battle is just hilarious, cheesy and such top notch camp. But we managed to find the entrance and decided to give it a shot, having utterly no idea what to expect. Was it a ride? Was it a show? Who knows! It was probably one of the highlights of our trip because it was the most ridiculously cheesy thing I had ever seen. It felt super dated but we were impressed with the effects. And the fact it wasn't based on any movie or IP just kinda' made it this weird little oddball thing. I recommend it to all of my friends who go to Universal because it's such a weird surprise.

Sounds like a case where the people behind the attraction were too into the experience and didn't put themselves into the shoes of the people who were paying to see it. A short video explaining everything, to include that this is a special effects show, not a ride in a very generic room would have made it work. "This is the story of Poseidon, the god of the sea, and this is his story, you will be teleported...Twice". People are simple creatures, but if they know what to look for ahead of time, then things make a lot more sense to them. I spent four years as a flight instructor and from this I have learned to put myself in other people's positions. I found that if I did that, and SHUT MY MOUTH when they were trying to perform a maneuver with the airplane then they did far better.

Been going to the park since it opened. The land looks amazing and its actually nice to walk through. Just wish they would add a top attraction to it.

Agree. Love this attraction. And it is a gorgeous facade that almost got better as it’s become sun faded.

This is my favorite attraction at islands. Terror mines was a fun use of this for a haunted house.

Actually went there in October and while it wasn’t thrilling it wasn’t that bad. It was a nice relief from the heat as it was still incredibly hot in October. There was NO line. I do agree it would’ve been better as a ride but overall was a nice reprieve from the heat.

I've visited this attraction twice: Once when Poseidon was the villain (2004) and a little over 2 years ago when Darkinon was the villain (2017). While I still loved it, I noticed things in both versions that could've done better. Ultimately, I prefer the first version because it felt like a mythological battle between gods while the second version felt like I just watched a really bad superhero movie (Which was funny, I'd watched Masters of the Universe before seeing it the second time so I noticed how similar things looked to that film XD).

So glad you did this vid. I "experienced" this attraction on day 3 of a 5 day, 5 parks vacation in 2016. This was the only ride break down we witnessed during that excruciatingly humid July visit. The door into the final chamber malfunctioned and didn't open. Our guide excused himself and disappeared for what seemed like several minutes. We all stood there, with the water tunnel still roaring behind us, making the room feel particularly dank, as we nervously waited for something to happen. Suddenly an emergency light clicked to our right, illuminating an exit door. A voice over the PA system advised us to use it as our way out. That was it, no apology, no banter with the now missing guide, nothing. It was a bit jarring to suddenly stumble back out into the Florida sun and heat, mid-experience. Needless to say it set the tone for the for the rest of our stay at Universal and I was rather happy to find myself back in the Magic Kingdom the following day. With your vid I finally got to see not just how the ride might have ended but also how it was intended to originally be experienced. Thanks!

Personally, I’ve always thought it was such a weird and corny addition to the land. Really random. I can see it being nostalgic for some though. The water tunnel is very impressive and memorable.

As someone who lives in Orlando, I've been to all the parks many times. The only real problem with this attraction is not what is mentioned here, but rather, the actual physical location of this gorgeous and awesome attraction. You have to experience it to appreciate it, and this video doesn't even remotely do it justice. When guests are walking around the park, they are inclined to walk right past Poseidon's Fury, because it doesn't really stand out...it's off to one side. Indeed, for years, I never noticed it! But if you actually walk into it, the overall setting is STUNNING! It's so cool and massive. The experience is incredible, and the indoor fire and water display is amazing. This is my favorite attraction. If Universal could open up the area more so it stands out, or force people to walk into it, the attendance would probably double.
