The Trijicon RMR HD who is this new RDS really for?

The new RMR HD, a lot of great tech, but who is this new RDS marketed to? and does it really do anything better than the standard, RMR for the average joe?

I pickup up an RMR HD a week ago. It was sitting at my range for almost a month. So far I am impressed with it. The sensor is awesome. It works instantly. I had to take a dermal took to my Safariland holster 🙄 I wish Safariland would just come out with the ALS of Glock holster. Other then that I like it😊

Great video, and I agree, an enclosed dot is not a necessity, maybe nice to have, but not required. The original rmr was used on pistols overseas. If it was getting full of crap then, they would have quit using it. I'm glad to see trijicon finally came out with an rmr with the features we want. I'd like to get ahold of the new vortex dot and run it on my backpack pistol for a while. The features seem good.

I didn’t think I needed closed emitters until I started shooting outside a lot. It rains and snows a lot where I live and shoot and my RMRs on my rifle and my holstered pistol would often fill up and be unusable, when presenting them because there was just a red starburst pattern on them (i did not have a hooded Safariland at the time and do not know to which extent it helps with the pistol because I have since switched to an ACRO fitted pistol for rainiy days😄 i also need to replace my Docter piggy backed ACOG with a TA02 + ACRO I’m not against open emitters and want am RMR HD! And I‘d like to try the 507 Comp and 509T. Haven’t tried Holosuns pistol optics yet. But did notice that closed emitters are the way to go here once I no longer only trained indoors

Enclosed emitters are nice and with options like the 509t it’s really like why not. Just because the opens are proven doesn’t mean civilians that spend our hard earned money don’t want something with more features. Enclosed is hugely nice for ccw as it’s so much easier to clean no compressed air need just wipe wipe and done. Just because something works for the military doesn’t mean we don’t need/want it as civilians often times are gear is better anyways. At the end of the day id take two 509ts over on Rmr/hd or rcr. It’s enclosed and affordable with this on the market why not have enclosed??

I 100% disagree with big window being “not beneficial” for target focused edc use. I will admit I am a competition shooter and shoot with SRO. Prodigy and MPA ds9, and I carry a staccato c2. I absolutely see lots of benefit to large window optics. The more data you can see through your objective lens the easier life is. The industry really needs to stop ignoring the data collected from comparative circuits. The truth is competition shooters drive innovation, they are some of the fastest and most accurate shooters. Which is attributes that duty and defensive shooters should look for. So if equipment like large window make a noticeable difference on the clock they will make a difference when life is in danger and milliseconds count. In addition the blue hue to me is aweful and very relevant. Again on a defensive gun most crime/attacks happen at night or low light, and if I’m looking through a windex bottle rather than a clear lens it makes it harder to collect data.
