The TRASHLINER Boat Part 3 - NNKH

In my opinion, bayliners of this period were actually much better than their reputation indicated. They had a good hull shape, were pretty well designed and put together for their target market. A good value for their owners. They were not intended to last a life time. But given reasonable care and treatment, they can do pretty well over all. I often see bayliners from this period for sale in my area and they are still in pretty darn good shape, and if they have been kept dry and under shelter, they have held up well structurally. And being able to run 40 mph with only a 150 horse 4 banger is pretty impressive.

That was a fun episode. I know sometimes you read the comments to see what suggestions people might have about future episodes so I wanted to throw something out there. People love old crappy RV’s. A few other auto related channels have gone out and bought old clapped out campers, put minimal work into them and then taken them on road trips and whatever happens happens, lol. I think that’d make for a cool series. 🤘🤘

Youll never see this. But i do the same thing just for a living (a great one and without filming) You two remind me of my EX and i. Really rare to see the almost identical (personality and hobby/job/dog/truck) Wish i still had mine. Anyways, to the point of my comment. I have a legitimate shop. So i repair customers vehicles as well as my own. But either way nearly every single state has a "mechanic's" exemption. That includes on the road and on the water. For driving or riding vehicles unregistered as long as youre "test" riding it. (I havent registered my harley in 8 years and i still ride it nearly daily) so much so that the cops and sheriff in my city and the surrounding ones put out a memo saying that if they see me driving around im just test driving. I live in california. So that says something about how strict our laws are. But nearly every state in the country has a mechanic's exemption. Get some business cards printed out and youll be legal

I now have a 1988 450$ Bayliner Capri that I’ve fixed up nicely in my yard and a free 1984 welded aluminum Bass Tracker that I stripped out and have turned it into an open skiff. For the most part, if the hull is intact, these old boats are still useful. Seems a shame to throw them away.

Gotta say.... Man I love this channel. Love these vids, and your attitude on Life in general. Awesome guy, with an awesome girl, and an awesome little doggie!! The Gus-Man is so cool. I have had so much fun watching your vids, and I think maybe the El Camino series was my favorite. You guys are just so much fun!! And this is not a knock on you.... but that boat was a giant pile of crap when it was brand new. LOL Those boats are so cheap, and poorly constructed, and man that baby has like.... next to no fiberglass. There is NOTHING to that hull. LOL I know you are really athletic and a great swimmer, plus you had a vest on too. With Jenn near by in case she needed to for help. So I wasn't nervous... but it was a little unnerving to see that puppy skipping across the river. Strangely cool, and cathartic! But alas, and as always.... just a ton of fun watching this stuff! Love this channel.

Plastic: Not a dent in the real problem, you say, but the real problem is people trowing trash - and you're part of the solution. I'm so happy to see you clean up. My family does this, also when we go on vacation. Thailand, Maldives, so much plastic you wouldn't believe me. And when you watch clips from India on youtube, it really feels like our engagement in cleaning up is like a drop in the ocean.

NGL I really like the Speedo on that bayliner, reminds me of the C4 Corvette. early 90's/80s boats were rad.
