I had wondered where Brendan went, and to hear what happened to such a good person and dedicated actor, it's just sad. @@oscarfun100 yes but pretty low budget or small parts. He hasn't had a big hit since the mummy. He's also been going thru some rough times with depression and a divorce.

People who either grew up or spent part of their adulthood enjoying his earlier work didn't forget him at all. When he had his comeback, our reaction was "It's about time!!!" I was ecstatic to see him get his Oscar. He'd been long underrated as an actor.

Spinal damage, including, skull, neck, and lower back. He's was hanged and literally set on fire. And yet I saw so many people bash him for reasons I can't fathom and could never understand. If you don't like someone maybe you should look in the mirror and explore yourself. It may very well be YOU that's the problem. I've always loved Brendon and I never forgot him. The Whale was incredible, indeed a masterpiece. I hope the people that spoke ill of him, no matter the reason, are forced to endured part of shame Brendon has felt.

He is an inspiration! People can see how a person can face so many hardships yet finally get their redemption.

I missed him so much all these years and wondered what had happened to him. Hollywood is a beautiful yet scary place. I am really glad he's back and that after all these challenging years he finally got a deserving recognition. What a fantastic comeback! He deserved more than the Oscar quite frankly; however, I am very grateful he held true to himself, earning him a prestigious award. I love you, Brendan Fraser, thank you for making my childhood a wonderful experience with your superb acting.

The Whale is probably the saddest, most depressing movie I have ever seen in my life. I don't know if another movie could ever surpass the level of sadness I felt consistently building up throughout the course of the film. Those actors should be incredibly proud of that performance. Awards absolutely justified. I would have given a supporting actress oscar to Sadie Sink as well.

Brendan deserved all the recognitions he recieves today, he’s such an amazing person.

I’ve always been so impressed by Brendan’s acting abilities. He’s one of a kind.

I always was since George of the Jungle when I watched him do the most daring swinging stunt in history!

I had such a huge crush on Brendan as a kid. First in George of the Jungle and then The Mummy movies. Sad to see him miss most of his young life doing movies. But ultimately he got what he deserves, not only an Oscar but the same love and support back that he had around 20 years back ❤

Brendan Fraser is one of my favorite actors. He is iconic.

He deserved to win an Oscar, after all that hardships he endured. And, just watching this devastates me that the guy,who was like a hero to me, in my younger years, was suffering from so many unfortunate circumstances that were completely out of his control.

At the 2022 Venice Film Festival, Darren Aronofsky said that it took him ten years to cast this film. Casting the main role of Charlie was a huge challenge until he saw a trailer for the Brazilian film Journey to the End of the Night (2006) starring Brendan Fraser, where it "clicked" for the director who would later cast Fraser as lead.

He's one of the few on my Protect At All Costs list. It doesn't matter if he's playing Link from Encino Man, or Charlie from The Whale, he's a treasure. A humble, beautiful man with an obviously good heart, and deep soul.

It broke my heart the way the Hollywood treated Brendan Fraser. He was my idol first time I saw him was in The Mummy. He continues to be my favourite actor died today. Congratulations on your Oscar win I can think of no one more deserving.

His first movie was Dogfight in 1991 but I didn’t know of him until School Ties in 1992 and followed his career ever since Broke my heart when I learned what happened to him and how he was blacklisted

It was a fun movie but what caught my attention was how so much was emoted on your face and you comedic timing was perfect. But of course the Mummy movies sang to my heart. When I saw you were in the Whale I was over the moon. I used to be very overweight and I knew you would convey the vulnerability and pain. In everything I have ever seen you in you have been able to show with your face and eyes what that character is feeling and a kindness. I look forward to hopefully many new parts with depth of soul. You have lived and grown and it will show in your acting.

I’ve always found him to be a really good actor. His roles didn’t always showcase his talent but it was always there. I went back and watched blast from the past recently and was impressed by his performance. It was much better than I remembered. The script was nothing great but I was impressed by what he made of it.

So if it’s not Brendan, no matter, this KC gal is and always will be in his corner!

I have been watching him when he first came into movies he was so amazing always so fun to watch to hear that he was forced out of the industry they should be ashamed and so should his wife for draining him knowing all that had happened to him he deserves such an amazing come back I hope he is able to get all his victories and wins he more then deserves them so glad to see him back and winning ❤

You can tell when people in power are lying if they will say the other persons version is wrong. Same thing happened to me when I confronted someone for being a creep. They said how I experienced things were wrong when there was no room for misinterpretation of the situation- I definitely was not misunderstanding the situation.

I came to love Mr. Fraser's work when he did Gods and Monsters. My all time favorite film by him is a little known Independent called "Still Breathing." The man has the chops as so many now know - congratulations for his much-deserved Oscar win!!

I cried when Brendan had a big comeback. Then I wept when he won the Academy Award. I am so happy that he has been recognized for the talent he is.

My family And I ABSOLUTELY love & respect Brendan Fraser! There are a lot of talented...skilled actors out there...Mr. Brendan Fraser is ONE OF THEM! We support him and hope to see him in many more movie & television roles.

Always liked Brendan Fraser's work, mainly his serious roles. He is fantastic in Gods and Monsters (1998). I would have loved to see more interesting movie roles go to Brendan. There certain years of the 90s that I recall from my youth having grand movies and impactful pop culture. 1991, 1993, 1996 and 1999. Brendan Fraser was huge in 1999 with The Mummy. That was a great summer with The Mummy, The Matrix, and yeah even the hated Phantom Menace.

I love Brendan. He's a fantastic actor and he's funny and good lookin. People are so harsh when they're down. You can't understand til you've been there. I'm with you, Brendan.

I bought *the Whale* I cry every time i see a trailer, video, Oscars or any video related to his comeback. I don't know how i will make it through a whole movie when im moved by just the teasers of his life and abilities.

There was aways something i like about this guy he just seems REAL not fake made up sellin he self of as some one he aint ... he really seem like just a nice real guy ..... he gets my THUMBS UP

I’m not much of a social media person either but sometimes I’m compelled to leave a comment. I’m from L.A. born and raised. I’m a singer/songwriter. I’ve also done some acting. It’s an amazing art form. To turn the words on a page into a scene is true art. Some are ok, some are pretty good. I think you’re one of the great ones.

This was a very horrific, devestating and depressing role , not a typical one for this man who's fame was playing humorous/ active roles !

As as a sexual assault victim, at the ripe old age of 5, I can tell you.. I remember every single detail. I’m 68 now, and still remember every single damn detail.

I love Brandan Frasier, I am so happy he is coming back into the spotlight and what happened to him IS terrible and we need to do something about it. But- we should have this same give-a-fuck when it happens to ANYONE. No matter their gender.
