This game is full of memories. But in 2014 I had to take a break, cuz I went abroad. Then when I returned to the game around 2018, the game had changed greatly and just didn't seem to be as fun as it was before. First I just thought that I had grown older and lost my joy of the game, but it turns out the entire community started to dislike the game. Really sad to see such a great game completely die over. But alas, thank you tanki for making my childhood so much better. :)

@@DOPESMOKERSB Same... Theres a newer version (around 2016-2017) coming out called RTanks. They plan on releasing it soon.

I found Tanki in late 2015 and it was the first game I actually got seriously addicted to. I remember staying up for most of the night on special events such as Halloween, where they had maps with increased gold box drop rates, and even tentatively participating in some of their organised esports competitions. I was even a staff member for a short time. Met some really cool people, though sadly (like everyone else) fell into the trap of paying "$5" just to skip the grind. I revisited Tanki last year and it was sad to see what had happened to it. It had become a game where you needed to basically pay to stay ahead of everyone else.

Hey Archangel. Didn't you have an entire wedding in the game lol? Anyways, you helped me make my intro as a kid, and tanki kinda established my career as a video editor since I now do it full fledged. The devs suck.

Nostalgia is unreal. As a little kid, i played this game for at least hundreds of hours. I'd spend whole days on my mom's computer waiting for a gold box. I was completely f2p so even as a 7yo i would be extremely dedicated to the game, i even tracked my effort and progress in simple charts at some point. All of the public library computers were always occupied by my peers playing Tanki Online. Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I often had a bug where I couldn't damage tanks or pick up drop. You get what that means? I stood on the gold box, and it just phased through me, and I couldn't pick it up... Then someone who couldn't rotate their turret pushed me out and picked it up... Bruh

Как раз-таки мпк внесло разнообразия в игру , я сам играю с 2011 года , и одно из малых новшеств которое мне понравилось ,это и есть мпк , а вот насчет нерфа аптеки , до сих пор злость берет на разрабов . Я участвовал в бунте под началом Жеки Микса , из-за изменения аптеки, тогда игру положили . Еще раз повторюсь , мпк - это лучшее что они сделали .

Играл в игру ещё до первого ребаланса, после него было очень тяжело адаптироваться и в итоге бросил. Насколько помню, тогда сделали все пушки равноценными и открываемыми на низких уровнях. До этого в игре было чувство прогрессии, а после оказалось, что весь грайнд был впустую...

I always hated upgrades in video games...imagine having a railgun and a slightly stronger railgun but you can barely tell the difference cuz they're both the same...the only thing you have to do is just make sure the upgrade amount is too much and BOOM! You find a p2w player crying for his mother for credit cards just to dominate others who WORKED for those items...I hate it...I hate being different and still being forced to copy from someone else...

@@YaM8Kraken Bro, m1, m2, m3 are also upgrades, but micro-upgrades made it possible to get the next modification a little earlier, since earlier the ranks were swinging for a very long time, it was very cool. As for the donation, you could quite easily pump in your favorite gun without investing money in the game.

I completely forgot about Tanki Online. I remember an old friend introduced me to the game and we played it like crazy, around 2011-2012. I remember going to his house to do something for school, but we just ended up playing it nonstop on his brother's laptop in incognito with a load of Russians in the lobbies. And also gold boxes videos and stunts were so popular... Never realized I had so many fun memories of that game until now Good times, might even check it out for nostalgia, but it's sad seeing a childhood game decline

bro the peak of this game was insane, being able to pick a match, name it, the great UI, fun gameplay and the thrill when the goldbox fell... I used to play it for years, put hundreds of hours into it and I tried it yesterday. It only improved in terms of graphics. I had fun, but it was really mostly based on my nostalgia for the prime Tanki.

I remember playing this so much with the boys in middle school. During recess or computer lab time we'd all immediately get into a match together, doing sniper trickshots and battles. It was awesome.

FFA was terrible, there was so many high ranked and whales in the lobby. Thus making it unplayable for f2p’s.

You just unlocked a memory that was on the back of my mind for a long time. I remember playing this game when I was younger, back when I played the trial version before signing up. It was the good old days.

Yeah man, I am nostalgic af too... I enjoyed the game at its peak in 2010-2014, I even got to play it on my mom's office computer while she had a break... I was addicted but it was worth it, no money spent but got 100% the experience and fun. A pity I didn't have social media and didn't join a community back then!

Bro when I heard the gold box sound I literally shed a tear. This game was my entire childhood, I played it every day..

I played this game from 2016-2018 after some boy in my class introduced it to me. As an 8-10 year old girl, its surprising how good and into the game I was. I had a group of buddies and we parkoured frequently. But then I left right when drones were introduced. I think it was during the drone period where the game really took a turn for the worst.

Probably the best video that sums up the story of Tanki Online, thanks for making this. I've played this game myself for a solid 5 years, but I quit in 2020, somehow I kept playing (maybe because I used to be a buyer kinda), and I had a ton of great experiences with it, but it's just saddening how much they ruined it throughout the years. Nontheless, Tanki will always have a special place in my heart, atleast the old Tanki.

As a old player of this game, a lot of things have changed because i used to love the idea of simple controls, multiple hulls and turrets with different advantages, and also the Gold Boxes that randomly drop occasionally. i then went on a break, and came back years later to a game that was completely different. at one point i saw tanks that were jumping around the place, and confusing maps that made no sense. and from there the game just lost its popularity, because the "magic" wasn't there anymore, instead it was replaced with things that the devs thought that the players would like because they wanted to go with the trend i guess. seeing a game that you know and loved for months and come back a few years later to see how chaotic it has been when you were gone is just sad. when i took a break for a few years i really expected this game to be successful, but now i think theres no more hope of bringing it back on the map. it will remain a hidden gem, lost forever buried with the year that it was popular. Check out ProTanki! Its Tanki in 2014-2017 with 1,5k - 3k players online and growing. I enjoy it a lot.

I remember very old version of it. Don't know the year exactly. So, there were only 4 tiers of turret/hull upgrades: M0 (stock), M1, M2 and M3 You had to grind for several ranks to get another weapon. But it was enjoyable grind. Every new gun I was unlocking was very exciting because I spent time grinding it and after unlocking it I could get unique experience using this gun. You played matches against players whose ranks were slightly higher than yours, they had turrets you hadn't and you wanted to grind more to unlock and try them. Also upgrading turrets and hulls wasn't hard. While grinding for new guns and upgrades you were collecting decent amount of crystals, so when you got new rank, you could either upgrade turret/hull or buy a new one without any problems. And then "rebalance" happened. Devs moved all turrets and all hulls to the beginning of the game. Now to get and play with any gun in the game you needed only about 15 ranks. But they made upgrade cost VERY high. For me, if was first game fall. I didn't want to grind for a slightly better versions of guns I already had and dropped the game for a long period.

I recognized myself there and not just shed a tear, but wept a whole pool of male longing. I was inaccessible at that moment: my eyelids did not close for a second when watching this video, but tears helped me. My mind was sinking into such distant corners of memories that I inadvertently thought: "Did it really happen? Maybe it wasn't with me?" A painfully familiar feeling pierced my heart; I remembered every centimeter, every pixel of this game seemed to me dear, truly friendly. I remembered the old store at the bus stop and the ATM machine I carried money into to feel cool again. I was inaccessible at that moment: all natural feelings were alien to me, only the desire to enter the game and destroy all opponents dominated me. I thanked God for every minute spent there. In it, I experienced all spectrums of emotions, life and death, and also saw worse things. Intoxicated by the thirst for competition, I can not stop playing, I shredded the opponents one by one. But damn, how sweet was that golden box....

Damn this brings back so much nostalgia. I remember starting to play it on y8 back in 2016, I was completely f2p and always had a bad win/loss ratio but I still enjoyed it because of how you could customize your tanks for different maps, strats, gamemodes, or even adapt according to enemy loadouts. I would always talk with my mom about cool things that happened in game. Then my old computer started to not be able to handle it in 2018 and it was lagging so much I had to eventually quit. I still loved it but when I finally played again in 2021 on a better pc the game just disappointed me. It would take very long for me to find a lobby I wanted to play in and most of the time everyone was playing with op loadouts and I just got destroyed. Now I just hope a similar game comes out someday that I can relive my childhood in

I remember playing with legends like Claudius, Prince_of_railgun, and others in XP/BP. It used to be so fun, especially with all the different laser beam colors for M1,M2,M3,XT rail guns. Back then, seeing an XT rail gun or white beam was so rare it was like a treat when you saw it Edit: you guys also remember when rank-up lobbies were a thing? Tbh I think my best memory was ranking up to major in a lobby where like 20-30 people would join in to watch it happen, and then the moment I ranked up someone would start dropping gold boxes 😭

Thank you for this, I remember playing this in 2012 or thereabouts, and recently (this year) when I realized it still existed and logged in, I nearly cried. A decade between logins... and it was all different. More premium, oberdrives, drones, augments, drugs everywhere... And I just watched this video, and what broke me is the menu. The home screen. It's been so long, I had forgotten it, but as soon as I saw that, it hit way too hard... seeing the gameplay, the textures, the UI... I want my old tanki back. There's a "classic" setting, but it only does a little bit. The UI and tanks, as well as the overall graphics quality, is just not the same. Sorry, but thank you. Seeing that selection screen, and the old control points... That's emotional in a special way to me. Cheers.

Both Tanki Online and World of Tanks were such great games in 2012. Many people (including me) wish to experience the simple mechanics, design and gameplay these two games had in 2012. Great times.

I won't go into an emotional drawn out story, but I will say I played for about a decade and this summarizes it pretty well. A lot of nostalgia hits throughout, and it's quite funny that I just started reminiscing about old Tanki at the time you posted this because I've been playing CS:GO since I quit and it really hasn't crossed my mind at all. Thanks for making this, the community that remembers how things used to be appreciates it.

Best vid of tanki out there, i miss the old one sm, i wish they could bring it back... This game will have a special place in my heart

I wasn't there in the earliest of days, but I have a wealth of memories from this game. Brest was my favorite map with Chernobyl as a runner-up, along with two others I can't recall the names of. One had an open plain with a towering wall to one side that tanks would climb ramps either side and could fight across the wall, and the other was the platforms in the sky that had an upper and a lower route and a jump at either flag. My first few ranks I got good with the Hornet and Thunder or Twins, later on trading them for the Isida and eventually becoming a crackshot with the Shaft and the Mammoth. I had fun on every map, every once and a while trying out probably every combination of turret and hull. Left around when they got rid of lobbies, and because most of the friends I had made in the game had already gone last online 2 years ago. Kills me that they killed it but boy did I have days of fun in Tanki Online.

hey I'm back still miss the hell out of the game keep trying to go back to play a few rounds, keep realizing I need to accept its death also there was a desert town map with a tunnel going straight from one flag to the other that most players forgot about also every other map man WHY DID THEY HAVE TO TAKE THIS FROM US

I'll never forget the moment I found out about Tanki Online in 2012. The concept of this game was absolutely amazing and I knew it from my very first match. I spent hours upon hours playing Tanki with my siblings and even made new friends along the way. Really sad to see the game die but at least we had some good memories with it!

I remember using cool gear because of the rebalances, where they would return all your diamonds that you ever spent on your account, but kept the ability to buy previously unlocked things in the store.

the outro music made me cry, i found it in 2014 when i saw someone playing it at my hotel and decided to give it a try, my first shooter. i got so into the game i regularly had dreams about it. i also watched the videos and montages of my time and earlier. i liked easter egg videos. that music brought so many memories of trying and failing to do what the youtubers did not knowing if it was real or fake

thanks for someone finally bringing this game up. i remember playing it non-stop in like 2014, i wanted to test out all of the cool guns and possible combinations you could have. the community was great, almost no toxic kids, everyone was nice to talk to. i will miss it.

When we played for many hours with my friend, each event was our skill, no one could match it at the local level, now the Marshal I have not played regularly for 3 years now. Kinda surprised you didn't mention how at one point they purged all of our inventories and gave us the money back + made all of the guns cheaper. Back then it was really, really hard to unlock the rail gun, but the M1, m2, m3 upgrades were really cheap. Right after I unlocked that rail gun, which took forever, I was suddenly just able to rebuy everything for cheaper.

Bro this is so true. I spent so much time collecting diamonds to bought Ricochet (cause I think its cool). But then literally the next week they lowered all the price. It went from thousands to literal 300 diamonds. I was dying inside mann 💀 Though it doesn't matter cuz I haven't played this game for 3 years now.

I grinded so hard for railgun, the best hull to pair it with was the Hornet but the game became so much of a p2w that i just quit

Wow, this video was so well done and explained! I started playing Tanki when I was in 4th grade, and now I'm in college. The game isn't the same as the one I once loved with my heart. I had a great time playing Tanki with my friends and making new ones. Sadly the devs team got money hungry and destroyed a beloved game by many people. It saddens me how poorly this game was treated and the current state it is in right now but this game will forever live in my heart as one of my fav games growing up. Fair to say, rest in peace to this wonderful game that brought me so much joy, you will be remembered but not played again. Sadly but true. This was a great video and channel. Keep up the great work!

I remember going over to my neighbor's house every day to play this game. I think its actually what first got me into tanks and other military vehicles. Eventually I did stop playing just because I had discovered WoT and war thunder, but it was still pretty fun. I really liked how you could completely customize your vehicle to suit your playstyle. I personally loved the titian hull with the thunder turret, the sniper turret was also fun too.

Started playing in 2010. It was so much fun. Then in mid 2013 played a match that is still stuck in my memory as it was with my oldest and best friends and we had a lot of fun that night. And then haven't touched the game in years. You probably can imagine how I felt when in 2020 i logged into the game again and saw what happened to it. My heart, and hearts of the friends we had that last match in 2013 were broken. Back then we were kids having fun, now we are all around 20, some finishing studies, some working their jobs. It's sad to see a game like that die like this. I miss those days. I really do

It was such a good game. I remember having a ton of fun playing this game around 2012. The isida and the fast hull was my go to. The ricochet and freeze gun were hella fun as well. The maps were also really creative and enjoyable. I also remember there being a soccer map/event to celebrate the world cup. Good memories

I remember playing for 12 hours a day with my neighborhood friends. My first gun I got to M1 was the Firebird, but I was more of a Smokey person. This game (along with minecraft) formed my childhood, and I wouldn't change a single thing.

Rip Tank Online. I'll always remember the afternoons and evenings spent grinding out exp and gems, trying to get the new M2 versions of the weapons or the Tanks themselves. The moments of Rage, happiness, enjoyment, satisfaction, disappointment, randomness and just funny moments I lived in this game as a kid. The satisfaction of getting a gold box, the feeling of infinite power when winning a game of Capture the flag. All of the different map secrets, the moments spent studying every map trying to find new places that weren't meant to be reached. The moments spent finding the best possible way to be as annoying as a human could possibly be for the enemies, and the white nights spent, y'know, playing with friends instead of sleeping. I'll keep all these memories in my heart, safe from the erosion of time. So sad the game died. We'll miss it

Для меня золотым временем было до появления голды. Диктатор+рельса или хорнет, это было офигенно. Или первые уровни с обычной пушкой. Даже поиграл немного в команде, но было проблемно играть с голосом, поэтому пришлось прекратить. После работы регулярно на полчаса-час зарубался. Я бы купил подписку, но донатить на расходники, нет уж, спасибо.

portes_s, oufa, st. railgun, mohammed95s, abo0di...and many more i cant remember right now cuz it was 6 7 8 years ago....damnn time flies. i used to come from school and played for hours and hours until my parenta locked away my keyboard in closets but i overcame that issue too... it was golden...youtubers, generalissimo players, myths, Godmode_ON, playing with friends, playing when there were holidays like haloween or new year or 9th may (victory day)...truly it shaped my early years back then and it faded away slowly but so fast and now its like 6 7 8 years after its golden age and its.dead...the developers clearly went too greedy about it with money i think and.ruined it all. for me it was the best game for years and its quite sad what happened to it.

I remember very early there used to be 10 crystal box, then they got removed for a long time, and then added back to newer version. Thank you for the video seeing those maps and old sprites gave in some memories.

Oh boy, i enjoyed every second of that trip down memory lane. I used to play with my 2 brothers and my best friend every day, CTF was hands down the best mode and we had so many epic games. Loved playing that wasp + railgun to be a speedy boy with huge dmg. Also the tricks to adjust your position while shooting in the air was rad. Definitely some of the best memories of my childhood. ❤️

The good memories of rushing an enemy base with hornet + twins, getting the enemy flag and using nitro drug to hull ass back to your cap and the friendly isida coming clutch to make sure you're alive, and if u die with the flag, the good chaps would of drop the flag for u to make the cap

I remember how good this game used to be, and to be completely honest I forgot about it until now. I remember dominating in XP/BP, panicking whenever there was a gold box, and everything else about this game. I never thought that people today would remember it

I played Tanki X since open beta launch to closing. I liked the idea of gaining xp with the gear you wanted to upgrade before being able to upgrade it. The card sloting upgrade system was a neat idea.

Tanki X is kind of back (see Revive Tanki X). But even despite being a better game with bigger reliance on skill, better graphics and everything, it has so little content it gets boring fast. You can clearly tell they couldn't milk a skill-based game without turning it into Tanki Online, so they closed it for good. And the fact that it wasn't casual (only ratings and leagues) also makes it boring when you have to give your best or get screamed at by your teammates. A real shame TX died in this poor state.

This video perfectly summarizes the problems this game had as well as it's strong points. I would like to add that one major issue with the game was having product kits that cost ridiculous amounts of crystals. This alongside micro-upgrades led to major power imbalance between buyers and non-buyers. An example would be the Tornado kit which had M2 Railgun and M2 Hornet unlocked at WO5 which is 2-3 ranks below the normal rank needed to unlock the M2 Rail and Hornet respectively (through normal means e.g. reaching Second and First lieutenant). What made matters worse was the fact that you could spend an absurd amount of crystals to fully upgrade it to M3 meaning you basically had M3 gear where everyone mostly had M1's. (This happened with lots of product kits btw) This alongside the game's atrocious team balancing made f2p players at a major disadvantage, never mind how little crystals you would earn. The time to reward ratio was so bad where if you weren't winning you got basically nothing for your efforts and if you WERE winning and you didn't get to the top of the scoreboard, you got fucked with the amount of crystals you earned. I will say though that playing this game in it's very early years around 2016 and before then was some of the best years this game ever had and it's quite sad to see how much this game has fallen when it had so much potential. Additionally, playing this game with your mates and shit-talking was some of the best experiences ever had as well as just chatting to random people across the world made the gameplay feel so much better. Also it took them a really fucking long time for them to add the update where you could use any paint you wanted in your garage without worrying about protections. This good update lasted for awhile until -> (Came at the cost of needing to buy protection module slots with tankoins later on, because we can't be letting our players get free prot module slots now can we) (This was one hell of a double-edged sword update tbh) Despite all the positive updates in this game, the negatives outweigh the positives too much to really put more time and effort into this dead game. For the few people which I believe is approximately (0.01% of the population of players) who managed to get maxed gear without buying I truly commend you as that is a difficult feat in the world of buyers, druggers and (multers? aka teammates who sabotaged basically). All in all this was a great game but fell off. TL:DR Micro-Upgrades caused power imbalance as well as the gameplay having shit time:reward ratio. 2012-16 was GOAT years of this game then it fell off. Only really fun with friends tbh. If you managed to get maxed gear without buying you are epic gamer. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Tanki online was one of my most memorable childhood video games, I used to play it day and night with my brother. We even created an alt account for farming kills and crystals. Thanks for making this video and bringing back childhood memories! I'm sending this to my brother. This game was super popular in my class in like 2013 for a year. Then everyone just forgot about it. Was one of the very few 3D games that the school didn't block for some reason. I even knew some people that played it in there free time after they went home.

they couldn't block it because it was a flash game. software 3d engine on flash, quite a technological achievement by alternativa, they tried to sell it too (like unity or unreal by epic games) but no company seemed to be interested as flash was already dying.

@@FatheredPuma81 never experienced them tbh, but there's solid logic behind my explanation. most 3d web games at the time required unity or shockwave or java plugins which most likely weren't installed in a school computer but flash was rather necessary. you implied that 2d games weren't blocked, well, technically tanki online were indistinguishable from a random 2d flash game.

@@shortcat Well what I said was what I meant. The only 3D games that weren't blocked was Minecraft and Tanki. The vast majority of game websites were blocked even if Flash itself wasn't. Now that I think about it they did eventually block it like a year or 2 later after no one played it. Funnily enough that's actually why Minecraft was _never_ blocked. Some classes had some programs written in Java and some Adobe programs needed it to render projects.

I was a freaking death dealer in this game. I played it 24/7 and felt every tick, every tank's physics, predicting them and using gun's abilities wisely. What a shame they had to ruin everything...

Same. I was the grim reaper with the magnum even before they added the tool that let's you see where your projectile will land. But now the splash damage does barely and they nerfed the damage overall so now you can't one shot as much anymore. Sucks

The game had at peak 200k players and had official matches in esports (starladder) The thing is, most clans were made on Forums either way so that option to buy a clan wasn't a necessity The matchmaking system was added way after 2016. Some reasons why they lost so many players up until 2016 was the removal of the crystal boxes which dropped from the sky (besides the gold box), and also the events having less sales dropping from 50% on every sale to 35% or something like this In 2016 they added daily missions, before that you could get rewards for logging in, sometimes crystals sometimes supplies + the leveling rewards and packs for crystals, so you didn't have to necessarily buy them with real cash Druggers were a thing but in most battles there were at most 2 3 people heavy drugging the rest were casuals + if they were noobs the supplies wouldn't help anyways, even that depended on the settings of the map There was a first iteration of supplies where you could activate all 3 at the same time but this was nerfed to a version where you could activate supplies only after waiting an amount of time

As a spanish boy, loved the community and all, but the things i really miss, were the hidden parts os some maps, were u need to climb or do parKour with help to reach a secret room, some maps that were killed by the game, so many things, also the menu display, it changes a lot now, they should have wait for the community to say that they wanted a new theme for all the game, but as u said they really love the money. I WILL REMEMBER THE SECRET ROOMS THEY WERE FUNNY TO REACH.

Oh god, this brought me back. I spent probably hundreds of hours on that game in around 2011-15. I'll never forget how satisfying it was to charge into the enemy ranks with the weakest hull and knocking out their aim by twin guns or ricochet. They got so mad when their perfectly aimed and charged railgun shot missed me, a tank they could easily kill in one shot, just because I had decent aim with ricochet and always switched which side of their tank I was aiming at. And the sight of pursuing isidas blowing up because I jumped into some ditch and placed a mine there. Those were the days...

You have dragged a long drowned memory, inducing immense nostalgia in my mind and reminder me of those rare evenings that I played tanki with my brother on my uncle's computer.

As a former Tanki Online player, it's so sad to see it die like this. I was in love with this game, and now i'm playing it a little bit, just to bring back memories

I played around the peek time for like two years or so, and than occasionally got back to it, but it was never the same. Good old days, simpler days.

I have had thousands of hours on that game. Some of my favourite memories were 2 hour long matches, 2v2 railguns, and battling over gold boxes. It's so sad that part of my childhood is gone.

I miss the game :( I played 2011-2015 when I was a kid and what you said it was incredible, playing with friends, the community was active and the devs KILLED their own game, what a shame.

I remember finding tanki online as a kid right around or just before it’s prime. I got my cousins hooked on it as well and we would play together whenever we could. We had such a blast but grew out of it over time. A couple years ago I went looking for it to see what it was like now but couldn’t fine it, I guess I now know why rip tanki online

@@ianNotShort yeah the tanki youtube community is kinda... lacking, at least the EN one, there are some decent sized RU youtubers who do sometimes talk about the game more seriously, but no one has done anything similar to your video on the game yet, and it definitely stands out

@@ianNotShort Basically there are two types of Tanki youtubers; those who ignore the game situation and go along with false optimism, and those who simply play with electronic music in the background. Your content is very good, it's honest and fun.

Damn, I remember I put in hundreds to thousands of hours in this game just to be on the same level as people who paid and after so many years I just stopped because the devs were clearly focusing on the buyers. I remember when I saved up enough crystals to buy an xt skin only for tanki to make it come out of containers which were only allowed to buyers.

Tbh i didnt have much issues with p2w ppl as they arnt rly familier with controls so they dont know what to do against wasp+firebird or actually almost anything
