Once again Lauda showed his class. He deserves more recognition in the annals of F1. Sad story of James, but glad to see flashes of his brilliance in his son.

An era that we'll never see again. The circuits. The cars. The drivers.

Back when you had to have big balls, use a clutch pedal, shift, and fear for your life during the weekend while on track. Legends

😮🙏 James Hunt was so Lucky to have a Good Caring Old Friend like Niki Lauda ... 🙏 May both be blessed to a Better World & Realm ... & be Reunited with Their Loved Ones in a Better Place in due Time & Space ... 🕯🌷🌿🌍✌🕊

I think Hunt is very underrated. The guy entered F1 in 1973 and with a car far inferior to the likes like Lotus,Tyrrell,Mclaren he raced for podiums and wins.He got his first points in only his 2nd race then 4th place then a podium ending the season with 2nd place in USA just behind the winner. He was unlucky on msny occasions and even after winning the 76 title he was the driver to beat in 1977.He was as fast as Lauda and many times even quicker. And also as a commentator from 1980 to his death in 1993,said the things right many times and predicted the truth about Senna who"ll be world champion in the future and also about Schumacher.Yet,he made some savage comments about other drivers, but he said it straight away and he was right.Great driver and great commentator

No me explico cómo éste tipo corría en la F1 . Tiempos peligrosos , mucha competencia , y fue Campeón !!! . Admirable. Está en la historia de la ex máxima categoría.

They were in a different league... That's why present day drivers like Max Verstappen don't like to be compared with those great drivers of the past. Max: 'Those were different cars, different tracks and they had fewer races in a year'.

Good video. These were the greatest of times for F1, Each car was different and the drivers were real characters living life to the fullest. Today it is unfortunate F1 has become so boring.

was his last race really in Japan in 1986? And I thought the no gear lever, bleeding hand incident was the 1974 International Trophy at Silverstone

No, I don't know where they got that from, very sloppy work this sad little clip. His last race was effectively Monaco 1979. Apart from some exhibition races and testing sessions / attempted comebacks, he never raced again. I think you are correct about the no gear lever thing, I'm quite certain he was driving for Hesketh when that happened.
