#stanbowles #footballicon #footballlegends
Stan Bowles emerged as one of football's most enigmatic talents during the 1970s, a period often called the golden age of English football. With a career that spanned over two decades, Bowles gained many fans and frustrated defenders with his sublime skills. Yet the last moments of his life were marked by personal struggles that ended on a sad note.
Stan Bowles was born on December 24, 1948, in the bustling city of Manchester, England, a place rich in industrial history and emerging football culture. Growing up in a working-class family, Bowles's early life was framed by the post-war British context, characterized by economic challenges and a strong community spirit. His upbringing in Manchester, a city with a profound football heritage, naturally sowed the seeds of his future career. Football was not just a sport but a way of life in the Bowles household and the wider community, offering a form of escape and expression for many young individuals like Stan.

A unique talent. You will probably never see his kind in football again. He was often spotted around pubs in west London. Or the nearest bookies ! I hope he has meet up with George Best again. RIP Stan. Super Hoops legend.

He was one of those players like the Italian legend Pirlo. That type of player was not the most athletic but he could find space in a phone box & find someone in a goal scoring position or even slow down the game & look for someone who is. Players like Stan were pretty rare to English top tier football in the ‘70’s . Pity he never went to places like Italy or Spain. They would have loved him there. R.I.P. Bowler😢

I lived in the Bush when he was great, I was in the bookies before games and he came in just before kick off . Saw him at White City dogs and the pub in Stamford Brook with Shanksy, I did that too , it didn’t make me a bad person and certainly didn’t make him one. Certainly the best player ever to grace Loftus Road. The people who make these collages don’t have a clue about items . R.I.P. Stanleeeee .

Talk about Bend it Beckham, Stan was doing that long before him. I was behind Stan (in the crowd) at a match, when he took a direct free kick. He sent the ball around the opposition wall by at least 2m (2 yards) and scored.

Yes,I saw him do that many times as well but the TV cameras weren`t at every match in those days.He scored a lot of incredible free kicks from outside the box but none of them seem to have been captured on film,he could bend the ball like nobody else in the country!!

I went to a school called St Edmund's in Hammersmith in the 70s. I was told that they used to have to drag him out of betting shops on the Uxbridge road on a Saturday afternoon to play a game.
