what i think is funny is that these women seem to think that feminists have to have full time jobs and hate all men. I'm a stay at home mom, i cook dinner every night, keep the house clean, and respect my husband. And i am 100% a feminist, loud and proud. The best part? My husband actually respects me back! crazy right?

I did the trad wife thing. It was awful. He was also verbally and mentally abusive. I finally left for good and had zero marketable skills. None. I got laughed out of interviews because i didn't type fast enough to even be a an admin assistant. I had a college degree but guess what, a general studies diploma does absolutely nothing. I moved to a different state because I knew my ex would drag me back in if i was within 500 miles. My first job post divorce paid $11/hr and literally the only thing i could get because i had a massive gap in my work history, no employers did not care that the reason was raising kids and taking care of a household. It has taken me 9 years and 5 job changes but I finally have a job I love and pays me enough to support myself and my kids. I'm extremely proud of my progress and my ability to show my children that I did this on my own, for all of us. It's been an absolute battle to get here and it isn't over but I would much rather fight this battle and pay my own bills than ever go back to the 'trad' life I had.

I was raised in the south and Christian. I fell for the trad wife life. I married a man who also was about that life. It was horrible. Zero help with the house even though I worked 80hr a week, he took all my money because he was “investing for our future” and in the end I had to leave. I’m just starting to wake up from all the BS. I was raised the opposite, by a mom who can’t cook and gets other people to do her chores (her boyfriends in her youth, maids as a successful career woman). She always drilled into me the importance of independence. Somehow I still ended up falling for trad wife life. I did all the cooking, cleaning, and let my partner be “the man of the house” but because I’m financially independent I also paid all the bills 🤦‍♀️ that’s not the full story, but went there for a bit. Yikes 🪤

I'm a single, cottage-core woman with a bunch of traditional interests; baking, cooking, gardening, homesteading, painting, I even do embroidery. And I attract a lot of men who want a trad-wife. And they are soooo nice at first. But then they realize I, today, also mow the lawn, do car maintenance, house repairs and even renovations, so they can't trick me into thinking that is equal to all of the housework. And then I tell them I will not be the main caretaker of any children and they will have to do their part. And then they want to bargain and I dump them because if we put the cards down and all your bringing is a good job, a 50s fetish, the easiest parts of house-owning and an ok personality I will not waste my time nor my homegrown strawberry desserts on you.

As a result, when my husband hears men talk about their attraction to Asian women, he always wonders whether they admire their beauty, or they want a woman from a culture that they see as submissive because they don’t like accountability or mutual respect.

Too much dependence takes away your rights in a relationship as the power shifts to one person… too much independence also takes away from the relationship as some ppl might think I’m better off alone than with someone I’ve to put up with.. so generally someone who is middle of the spectrum is more suitable for committing themselves to a relationship while having n independent identity

It would seem to me that the women that end up marrying an American because it's what they want have ambitious and go get her personalities. A submissive woman in an environment where they're expected to get married and care for a husband and children would have already been married and doing so. I know two men personally that married Thai mail order brides. (They didn't want anyone questioning there are extra curricular activities in this case) and were both successful New York businessman. Well, both of those women were some of the least passive women I've ever met! But boy were they taken care of! ... because they demanded so! Lol

I was a trad wife - because it was best for my kids. My husband made the money, I took care of the children. It wasn’t a statement, it wasn’t a flex, it was a choice for my kid’s development. I ended up divorcing that guy at 43 because he didn’t respect the contribution I was making, so be careful before entering into this type of situation. Make sure your partner respects your job as a care provider and housekeeper (it’s not a bad word) even though you don’t get a paycheck. Being a “trad” wife of fine as long as you’re being respected by everyone, especially your husband.

It took her almost 15 years of being married to my dad before she took a break from work because before my dad, she was with a very abusive guy who wouldn't let her work and she had to sneak call her father and get money sent to her so she could pick it up and leave the state bc that was the only way she could get out. These trad wives don't really realize how the men who insist on having a submissive woman are a lot of times, going to be either mentally or physically abusive, or both. I'm reading through the Bible this year, and it actually kind of put things into perspective. Women were in some ways better taken care of in Bible times than they were in the 50s. They had the state to fall back on if their husbands died, they did their own work to help the family make money. Obviously it was still a flawed system, but back then gender roles seemed to have a more practical use. Men's work was typically hard labor, and women spent more time making clothes and other resources both for their families and to make money. Meanwhile the 50s housewife was a direct result of the 1940s working women. They pushed the ideal so hard because men came back from war and felt threatened knowing women were incredibly capable in a corporate environment. Women have /always/ worked, especially in lower class environments. These women desperately need a history lesson.

THATS the kind of tradional lifestyle these pickmes want to return to?!!!

My uncle met a woman from Thailand, they had kids, she hated his controlling behavior and generally thought it was weird her 5 siblings also said 🤨, so she sprung a quick divorce as soon as their youngest turned 18, took the house and also once she found another guy who treats her much more equal and cooks for her and helps her with everything. He really mellowed out after because he got humbled hard and realized he has to work on himself and his own attitude towards women. Especially since they have a strong feminist daughter. Anyways, he then went for an ultra feminist woman on the opposite side of the spectrum who was a bit too unstable but he actually liked how fun life got when he wasn’t pulling all the financial weight and helped her out with all the chores. He learned how to make food too. 10/10 a total turn around and thankful for that.

There is a difference between being a pick me guy and a man who holds other men accountable. Thank you for being one of the few who dont accept bad behavior and bad mentality. Its crazy to me how many people miss the point and get so offended at the women who dont wanna be traditional. No one cares if a women wants to go the traditional route, its just harder cuz there are many men who are not trustworthy to have the financial power in the relationship without using it to be a dictator of his home. But if you dont wanna be traditional thats when people have to open their mouths and try to tear them down and change their minds. They take non traditional women as a challenge instead of understanding that not everyone wants the same thing. Men arent the only ones that have that want to pursue different things, women want to as well.. ya know.. cuz were people too, and not just objects to control and serve. We dont hate all men, we just want ones that show us mutual respect. I love and respect the men in my life who do.

If staying at home, taking care of the kids, keeping house for you spouse is what you want to do with your life; I support your choice. As long as that choice is open to all parties. If you want to conquer the corporate world or be the best stay at home parent, your gender shouldn't matter.

I’m the biggest feminist, if a woman wants to be a trad wife, girl go for it!! The issue with that comes when some trad wives hate on other women for not being “traditional” and want to work, and have big goals for themselves. If your goal is to have a big family, be a stay at home mom, etc, go for it! Those are your goals and you should achieve that, but you can’t hate on women who want to be independently successful, who want to build a career, maybe who make more than their male spouses. That goes vice versa as well, you can’t be a “feminist” and then get mad at women who want to be trad wives. The whole point of feminism is for women to be able to do what THEY want.

He called his babysitter Mom and called my boss by the babysitter's name. She worked out in the morning and if one of her kids walked in the garage while she was working out, she would scream at them to leave her alone because it was "her" time. She spent two hours a day with her kids on weekdays. And I was a weak pussy for not wanting to work full time when I had kids.

Cute story, but it isn't the type of "American" as reported by the UN- "The UN refugee agency has called on the UK government to intervene to stop single British men from being matched up with lone Ukrainian women seeking refuge from war because of fears of sexual exploitation. Following claims that predatory men are using the Homes for Ukraine scheme to target the vulnerable, the United Nations high commissioner for refugees (UNHCR) told the Guardian “a more appropriate matching process” could be put in place to ensure women and women with children are matched with families or couples." (The Guardian- 2 years ago). So, nobody goes over there, they USED to go onto a Facebook group in order to be predatory toward women in Ukraine. The matching would sometimes pair the single men, many British and other Europeans, with Ukrainian women. The fact that you didn't know that this is predominantly happening in Europe, by European men and traffickers, then blaming it on Americans is pretty toxic and an outright lie.

He strongly encouraged all of his daughters to get their college education because, he saw what happened to traditional women when their husband left them and they slipped under the poverty level and both them and their children really begin to suffer. Because back in the day, the courts didn’t enforce alimony and or child support. He saw it so often he definitely didn’t want it to happen to his daughters if anything should happen to their marriages. My sisters and I all got our masters a good 40 years ago. My dab was right. I am a housewife, following in the footsteps of my mother, who stayed home to raise my sister and I. I love cooking and cleaning and supporting my husband, it is a genuine passion of mine. So it should go without saying that I understand and greatly respect this occupation. And that also means I know better than anyone that a lot of stars need to align for it to work; these trad influencers never so much as acknowledge any of the things that could go wrong, in fact many of them explicitly say to not have any backup plan, not go to college, get married and start having children as young as possible, which puts women in extremely vulnerable situations, vulnerable to abuse, vulnerable to divorce that will leave them and their children greatly economically disadvantaged, etc. And a lot of the types of men who are attracted to a dynamic like this are very often not the kind of people I would trust to not have such a situation arise. Take it from a feminist housewife, if you want to be one, more power to you. Heck you can totally do the whole 1950s period accurate LARPing if you're into it, I don't care what you do with your life and I don't think the majority of feminists do either. But trying to sell it to others without encouraging any safety measures is irresponsible at best. Compound that with the fact that a lot of these trad people overlap with far right fundamentalism and Christian nationalism, and support the politicians who overturned Roe and want to do even worse things to women's rights, and you have a big ol' cocktail of awfulness. As a homemaker I feel no kinship with these people.

She wanted to go to art school and he kept tell her only after they marry she can. She got married to this guy. It felt very hurried and controlling to me. I know women too that had gotten married after only a few months of knowing a guy and got a child right away. Its kinda giving me abuse vibes and their marriage will not exactly be happy if that is their end goal with no thought process of concerns about how hurried and rushed they were pushed into the marriage.

I learned that lesson in my early twenties because of my teenage bride Christian marriage. When the man wants the woman to take over all of his basic life support tasks at the cost of her ability to have her own interests and hobbies, it’s only a matter of time before she figures out that her life is dramatically easier without him. Then the men have to go to greater lengths to find someone to con into filling that role for 5 years or so, until she knows better. And eventually, they’re just an unattractive man in his 40s-50s who can’t clean up after himself or do his own laundry, still trying to find a young girl inexperienced enough for him to bully into caretaking for him.

Something that drives me crazy about this whole movement is that women like this are completely blind to the reality of most people in the world. I am sure there are a lot of parents who would love to stay at home and raise kids, keep their homes orderly, and cook meals for their families. The issue is not feminism, but the fact that many can't afford to. It is rarer these days for a household to survive on one income comfortably, so most families have both parents working to make ends meet. It literally is a privilege now.

As a Latina, my entire family has so many girlbosses if that makes any sense, when my grandma got fed up with my grandpa she left him and became a mariachi singer to diss him, Latina woman are strong so if people ever say they’re submissive, they're wrong, also race doesn’t mean anything, stereotypes exist but people are people, everyone has their personality, you can be submissive, you can be dominant or anything, as long as you give yourself respect and respect your partner, you deserve to love and love deserves to be spread, but never let people walk over you and be kind♡ idk what this was supposed to achieve but have a nice day and stay hydrated:)

I WANT to stay home to give them what I think is the best chance. HOWEVER, there is no way in hell I’m doing it with some misogynistic man who doesn’t see the value and work SAHM moms have. Equal partners or I’m not doing it

there’s a reason we have tried for centuries to try and grow feminism and help women do things like get jobs. it’s because women’s lives back then were not good. if life back then (when practically every single woman was a trad wife) was as good for women as it was for men, then women would never have fought to change things.
