Hello, when picking a watermelon, you should check the area that the stem came from and it should be dark, not green. It means that it stayed on the vein until it’s ripened. Also the bottom of the melon should be very yellow from laying on the ground until ripe. It should also have marks, like scratches from the bees being near. This will assure a very sweet and delicious 🍉. 🌻🌻

It's funny how many people still think living a city life is hard work and living a country life is easy when, in so many ways, rural life is so much more work! Many of my mainland friends still think I lay on the beach most days just because I "live in Hawai'i", but I haven't even been to the beach in over a year because I'm too busy managing this 7 acres of jungle! 🤣 And unlike many people who still get one or two days "off" from work each week, the land NEVER takes a day off! It grows EVERY DAY, ALWAYS!!! 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 But of course this is truly a blessing... None of us would still be here if we didn't have this incredible, abundant home called earth 🌍 Aloha from big island, my hard working neighbor! 😎🤙

Very true! Body and mind are meant to be used fully. Most people in the cities probably use their minds more than their bodies which invariably leads to dis-ease caused by mental stress and sedentary bodies. Hitting the bed when you are exhausted can produce the best sleep, mental stress levels come down and the body is stronger and healthier.

Jambo Jael🥰 The compound is looking beautiful as always! I always say life requires work. We get to make the choice of how much, where and when . You get back what you put in, no matter the location. You put in the work and give us quality to behold in village life. Thank you🥰. In choosing a watermelon, I was taught to always look at the belly of the melon (the portion that lies directly on the ground) the more creamy yellow it looks, the better. Also to always take a look at the stem and choose a melon with a dried stem. The bigger the melon does not necessary mean it’s the best. The medium size melon seems to be better, at least, that is what I think! I pray your coming seasons are good for you. You will soon be getting cooler in Kenya as we get hotter in my area. God continue to bless you as you enjoy life!!! 💜🥰🙏🏾🌹🫶🏾🙋🏾‍♀️

This is glammakitty here, I look forward to the day that my husband and I get a farm. We are in the process of selling our three properties and finding at least 10 acres of land. The only bad thing that I can think about living the country life is some weirdo coming onto your property. That’s why I got two of those weirdo stoppers and I will definitely be getting guard dogs. I love everything you are doing. The only other problem is being on farmland and being of age, that’s my problem. Otherwise, like I said I got something for the intruders but would love to have my grand babies around me. I am soooooooo jealous of you (hahaha) but I love everything about your farm. Do your thing honey we love you

Also, I think in this modern age, there are so many ways to combat the perceived boredom of life away from the lights and so called attractions of the city.

Hi Jael. Hard work is good for you. Usually grown up kids take over most of the work from their mothers and in so doing condemns their mothers to early graves. Keep yourself busy for your benefit. As regards fruits, the less the sunshine the less they taste sweet. Even the texture or skin color deepens when the fruits receive the adequate sunshine, hence inference of sweetness.

Like you said It's hard work but there's no one bossing you around. You can sell or trade your products ,ducks ,rabbits ,goats all small animal easy to take care of. Cassava ,potatoes ,arrow root grow them on burlap bags so you don't have to dig. Arrow root grows on water also ,so maybe you want to introduce it to your fish farm. If you get ducks ,build a pond for them and use that water for your garden ,you just empty the pond every so often and give them clean water. How to make your fruits and vegetable sweeter use wood ashes ,it's rich in potassium and makes then sweeter . You can also use the coals or charcoal to make a biochar to use in your garden as a soil amendments and fertilize ,improve your soil without digging . Compost tea is another great soil amendment . Raised garden beds are good for your back because you can garden sitting down instead of bending over .So many things out there to simplifly your life.

Some Chinese have a way of knocking on them like knocing on a door and there is some sound that the sweet onses give 🤣🤣🤣. For me I find the black ones a lot sweeter not these hybrid ones. Is that yellow spiky fruit local to your village or is it exotic?

Hey Jael!! Your chickens are so cute! From what I've heard if you knock it on it and and put you ear next to it, it should make a hollow sound. And according to FoodChainTV on "The three things you have to look for in a good watermelon are: 1. A nice, yellow belly. 2. A brown belly-button. 3. When you tap it, it should sound like tapping a bucket full of water. And you should also press on the watermelon. It should be very firm and hard. If it's soft at all, don't buy it. " end-quote! also from a comment on that video, someone said they pat it with their palm and it should make a hollow sound. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4aCtphtf6mooto.html&ab_channel=FoodChainTV I hope you can find your sweet and crunchy watermelon!!!!!

Here in America they have orange watermelon that you can trust to be sweet not matter how ripe it is. I wish I could send you seeds but Africa has laws about seeds and I don't know if I can.

True. There are some laws regarding seed imports, but I think it only applies to large quantities. I'll do my research

Watermelon should be darker skinned never yellowish or pale like the one on the video. . Also should sound a bit hollow when tapped. If not they are then overstayed and overripe preparing seeds.

Jeal the ugliest the watermelon on the outside the better it will be inside . Look for a big patch of yellow on its skin . Yellow means it stayed on the ground for a long time and it had time to ripe .

Make sure to select watermelon with 90% green dark husk or skin, don't worry if a small yellow patch is visible on that husk. However, the one you are having is entirely yellow on green, stay clear of that coloured husk. Don't buy sliced vegetables or fruit in markets, for health risk. Buy your fruits and vegetables whole and slice them home. ( kzread.infoFxMy1VGsSLc)
