But I think he should have actually been higher because of the impact on his legacy and basketball as a whole, it brought the cavs the title, lebron was unanimously the best player in the league and truly entered the GOAT conversation

@@mikethebeginner 1969 first year of the award. I think it just gets forgotten because it was against a Houston squad who weren’t expected to make the finals so it’s kinda forgotten but I believe that was Bird’s best individual series. After that his back caught up with him and he began to slow down a little. 86 finals he was doing everything. Bird was dominating inside outside averaged damn near a triple double and was the best player everywhere (inside outside offensive defensive) it’s 1 of the greatest finals performances clearly. He did what Lebron did 2016 as far as individual play goes.

@@fatboy5926 …It was a “Houston squad” of Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson that beat Showtime Lakers 4-1. Only reason it didn’t happen again was that Sampson got injured the next year. And the reason Rockets didn’t push the 86 Finals to game 7 is that Sampson got into a fight with one of the Celtics guards and was ejected. A big what if. I think Bird and Celtics would’ve still won but I think it would’ve gone to game 7.

@@timmyg831 you ain’t gotta tell me I have total respect for that Rockets squad!! 100% if they could have stayed together and healthy they would have won something no doubt about it. They just weren’t expected to get to the finals at that time is all. Everyone remembers the Celtics/Lakers finals from the 80’s and the Bad Boys but those Rockets would be in that group if Ralph stays healthy for sure. 1986 though they just happened to run into I think the best version of Bird and the best version of McHale too. Nobody was beating me. Taking them 6 games was phenomenal. Bird 1986 was just something else. Everything he did was fast. He didn’t hold the ball unnecessarily he played team ball. Passed to the right guys at the right time. I mean hard to compare across eras but as a comparison 2016 finals Lebron leads all 5 categories - Lebron had a usage rate of 33.4%. 1986 finals Bird averages 24 9.5 9.7 and 2.7 steals with a usage rate of 22 😂😂 a near 24 point triple double for a finals series and only the third highest usage rate on his team 😂 that’s fucking ridiculous

@@calvinsimpson1301 all you have is stats and no context. First of all, Jordan scored 33.5 of Chicago’s 88ppg that series. Lebron has 29.8 of Lakers 110. Point of that is the 2020 finals were played at a faster pace so comparing stats alone is a poor comparison as there were more stats to get in 2020. MJ also led the Bulls while Scottie was injured late in the series to the win against the team with the best record in the league without home court advantage. Lebron was playing with prime Davis against the fifth seed in the east Miami. MJ up against much tougher competition. Then you take into account MJ had the legendary game 6 where his will to win got the Bulls the title. Lebron may have better stats but it’s not even close. MJ in 98 is legendary

Yeah, because statisticly, that finals wasn't soo good, Dwayne Wade was tje best player on the court in these series. Dirk averaged 26 points and 9 rebounds on poor 41,6% shooting from the field, but Dwayne averaged 26,5 points, 7 rebounds, 5,5 assists, 1,5 steals and 1,5 blocks on 54 % shooting, soo he lead all players in scoring that year and he was extremely efficient while doing it. But still I agree, Dirk needed to be in honorable mentions.

@@hristijandimitrovski8664 Statistics aren’t everything. If we’re talking purely about a player’s impact on their team, Dirk’s FMVP should be up there with Hakeem’s. He was the only All Star on the team, he beat 5 former/future MVPs (Kobe, Harden, Westbrook, Durant, and LeBron) over the course of the run, and upset the heavily favored Miami Heat big 3. Was it the best FMVP performance ever? Definitely not. But it still should have been mentioned. I’m obviously a little biased considering I’m from Dallas, but that doesn’t diminish Dirk’s achievement.

Dirk didn't have unreal numbers, but I have to say that I hadn't seen a guy look so dominant in the Finals since Shaq. Dirk looked unstoppable and there was literally nothing the Heat could do to contain him, he would just rise up and shoot over everyone. Small guys, big guys, they had no answer for Dirk. He was also clutch throughout that entire playoff run. I'll never forget being legit scared of Dirk during that series, he was on a whole other level.

I think you got dwade too low on the list. His wasn't that controversial in my opinion. Mavericks didn't drive to the basket and had weak post presence which is why they drew less fouls. Heat went to the foul line more because they drove to the basket with dwade and had shaq who was always fouled a lot.

Dwyane Wade my favorite player of all time that fact that he came back from a 2-0 deficit in the finals and dropping nearly 40 PPG then singlehandedly dominated the Mavericks that had a prime Dirk be did all of this in only his 2nd to 3rd season in the NBA as best player on his team which is wild he reminded me of Jordan in that finals him and Kobe were the closest things we seen to Jordan

2012 was better because he was able to dominate better and had better stats. For example, had Ray Allen missed the shot and the Heat lost in 6 games, people would've looked at it as a bad performance by LeBron due to being outscored by role players for two of the games, bad efficiency, and the first 3 games of the series being bad for him.
