I just noticed Harrison Ford starred in Star Wars Episode V (1980), Raiders on the Lost Arc (1981) and Blade Runner. (1982) All movie of the year contenders 3 years in a row. He was the MVP for the early 80s.

Harrison Ford practically owned the late 70s to 80s period, he was like the Beatles occupying half the spots of the top 10 grossing movies of all time during that period .... even his financially underperforming movie like Blade Runner would become regarded as the greatest sci fi movie of all time and his dramatic investments would result in oscar nominations, movies like Witness , Presumed Innocent and Working Girl ...

Totally agree, "Blade Runner" was the best of an amazing year for cinema. To me is the best movie ever made :D PS: I missed "Conan the Barbarian" in the list, amazing Milius directing and also amazing Poledouris on the soundtrack.

Conan The Barbarian, Creepshow, My Favorite Year, Ghandi, The Toy, Star Trek 2: The Wrath Of Khan, and Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch.these are seven on my personal favorite movies list for 1982.

I enjoyed the list. Special thanks for including "Missing." I was in the Soviet Army at the time, and a friend of mine had to spend a night in the stockade -- not for watching the movie, just because we were all on AWOL and he got caught by the patrol))) I now owe it on Criterion DVD. A great film! My only quibble is that "Tootsie" is mentioned only fleetingly. To me, it's the best film of 1982 -- but tastes vary. As for No. 1 on your list, I guessed it from the outset. As one critic said, "We will all soon be living in 'Blade Runner'!"

Once again, you introduced me to a new film I’ve never seen before, Missing. It was a great film. Jack Lemmon’s performance was next level. Solid list.

The films you select are fantastic. Many of these films would appear on my list but many are new to me. And I thought I was a cinephile. I am binging your videos and formulating a list of those I must see. I hope you keep producing videos as they’re excellent.

The ENTITY also came out in 1982 ..... 1982 is the year of the UNDERRATED greats due to 3 movies : Blade Runner (my number 1 movie of all time) The Thing The Entity (The Entity is now regarded by many as one of the scariest movies of all time on the same level of horror as The Exorcist. ) Strange how the 3 movies were all not highly regarded during their 1982 theatrical release but their stature has grown to such an extent that they often occupy the top slots of the greatest movies of all time in their respective genre, sci fi, sci fi horror and horror ...

Difficult limiting it to only 10. This was THE best year for movies. I loved almost everything l went to see. ET was at the top of the list.

Ey! I was hyped about this one, and you didn't disappoint! For my favorite, I have quite a hard time choosing between Fanny And Alexander and Blade Runner. I would probably say Fanny And Alexander is my favorite as it's much more enjoyable than Blade Runner, but Blade Runner is the better film of the two. BUt this could switch any day. And The Thing is a masterpiece too! Cheers for another good video! KHAN!

"First Blood" was the best film of 1982 followed by "Le Gendarme et les gendarmettes" with Louis de Funes for the humor. And "L'as des As" (Ace of Aces) with the recently deceased Jean Paul Belmondo.

Another great list I Am a big fan of wrath of khan so great to see it get a place from what is left over I have put together my list for 1982 10 Who dares wins my dad loved this film I am not sure how it would stand up today but have placed it for sentimental reasons 9 Basket Case really good oddball horror film 8 Wild style a seminal hip hop classic7 pink floyd the wall was a teenage rite of passage Bob Geldof,s greatest moment 6 Dead Men don’t Wear Plaid Steve Martins powers were starting to wane but I still love this film 5 Time rider a great sci fi involving motorbikes and Fred Ward, win win. 4 Honkytonk man I feel this is very underrated and vastly superior to Firefox lints other appearance in 82 3 Q the winged Serpent I think someone else has highlighted in the comments and I am with them 100% 2 The Border a great moody film from Tony Richardson sadly still a very relevant film today 1 my favourite is Diner great ensemble. Cast but featuring a young Mickey Rourke one of my favourite actors of the 1980,s adding a bit more weight to a superb film. Keep up the good work roll on 83.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High is my favorite movie from 82.

Blade runner is a great movie but I will still pick ET as my personal favorite. Great list but like any other list there were movies that were left out and should’ve been mentioned: victor/Victoria, my favorite year, and especially fast times at ridgemont high. It’s still a great list.

back in december 1982 i went to a midnight double feature, it was dragonslayer and the 2nd feature was time bandits, two for the price of one.i was just a little kid back then and in was falling asleep by the time time bandits was on. but i forced myself to stay awake and see it.

Can't argue, great list, but I can add, 1 My Favorite Year. upbeat and fun look at broadcast TV 2 Cat People, love the tone with the funniest waiting room jokes on film. and a Bowie score. 3 Q the Winged Serpent was nothing short of brilliant Mmichail Moriearty nailed the role. 4 Sweeney Todd the demon barber...Dark and satisfying performance 5 The Entity. a creepy true story. 6 The Year of Living Dangerously Peter Wier directing 7 Secret of NIMH. Bloody animation tale, the anti Disney 8 Creepshow, guilty pleasure. Blade Runner and the Thing fill out the list.

I adore Fanny and Alexander. It's Bergman's best work. Great as it is though - the mini series version just takes it to a whole other level.

Star Trek V was a missed opportunity to reconcile the Star Trek original since that movie ended with a cliffhanger. It would have been much better if the villain in Star Trek V were the alien created in Star Trek the motion picture.

Philip K. Dick's story "Do Electric Sheep Dream of Androids?" (the sort of basis for Blade Runner) had a decent plot but it was a novel, and short. I wonder if Dick lived to see the movie. Strange fellow that he was, he might not have liked it. One thing I know is that he'd have hated the recent sequel with its happily ever after ending. The movie does draw you in almost to the put of hypnosis. It was very powerful, unlike the sequel which relied to much resolving conflicts to hold together. I hope the world doesn't turn into Blade Runner but its starting to seem that way. I knew a professor who watched the movie faithfully every new year's eve. I always wondered if he was on to something.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High is my #1. But I'm glad you didn't mention it since you would denounce all the characters as "White and privileged" like you did with The Breakfast Club and American Graffiti.

Blade runner looks great but is a boring movie imho .. The Thing No1 for me
