That engine was sounding crisp by the end. Great informative video.

Haha dealing with the turtle biting the power cord at 54:20 is the hardest part of nitro engine break-ins Lol. Didn't expect that.

That is a very very hands on informative and educational video on a different and effective method of braking in an engine. I would suggest a video on Gear meshing, cause that is also an area a lot can learn from and helps hobbyists feel more comfortable removing and installing their engines. Thank you

Stopping, and cooling the engine all the way down never made any sense to me, so I don't do that either. However, I run two tanks on idle at highest(120C) temprature, with an engine heater on and a temp probe jammed between the cooling fins. Then I usually will have to aply some trottle to hold the temperature up at 120 for another tank. After that, I just do what you do. I'm gonna test your method the next time. Save some time and fuel, huh🙂 Thanks a bunch!

FYI if you are breaking in a high end engine like os speed, nova, FX etc, don't use this method for break in . Always keep your engine above 200+ F If your engine goes below 200 deg, you will start to hear a pinging noise, this will lead to aggressive wear and poor compression. The piston will get stuck in the sleeve at colder temps below 200.

Detonation(pinging) in any engine is a bad thing. It is usually caused by too high compression. You can try adding a head shim, lowering your nitro percentage, and sometimes a cooler glow plug can help.

So using that head heater kinda defeats the purpose of the heat gun or vice versa. Why have one when you have the other? But whatever works for you

Valid point. I use the head heater when the engine isn't running, and the heat gun when it is. Probably because I don't want to keep putting it on and taking it off to cool the engine. As well as the very high draw of the head heater means the battery I use with it wouldn't make it very long and I can plug the heat gun into 120v. So why not just always use the heat gun when I have 120v available? I guess technically I could, but I also like the "set it and forget it" way of the head heater. I can turn it on and I've got 5 minutes to check batteries, top off my glow igniter, etc. whereas I would have to hold the heat gun and keep it constantly moving. I like questions that make me think about things that I never really thought about, just did. Thanks for watching!

@@NitroTalkwithTodd pretty sure I'm going to order me a head heater and a couple of batteries for it. Still on the fence for the starter box. This sounds crazy but that pull start engine keeps me connected with my nostalgia era of RC in my era. 55 and still bashing💪🏾

Lol additional oil. It's a two stroke engine the moment it runs it has oil.
