My friend you have been given a 2nd chance at this thing called life. I too have totalled not one but 3 cars over my drinking career. I’m now sober but this beast is forever lurking around doing press-ups. After this last crash I got sober. I now must continue to take it one day at a time as all it takes is one slip up and things quickly spiral out of control. Your video gives me the strength to take this disease seriously. Thank you 🙏

Keep up the great work. You tell a very true story and part of your life not everyone wants to share in a public forum. I have now 35 years sober, from a self medicated serious case of panic disorder that lead me into alcohol dependency. From two beers a day to a quart + of vodka a day. If my blood alcohol was not at least a .2 + I would start to go into withdraw. I know this subject well. I'm now 66 and living life large. If I had kept going at the rate I had built up to, I would have died 34 years ago. Anyway, I still remind my self of who I am and my past problems and how easy it would be to slip into that dangerous world again. That's why I enjoy hearing stories like yours. I have been there, done that, and have no intentions of ever returning to that crazy lifestyle. In my case it was not a party, it was hell on earth, and pure survival mode. Now that is soooo far behind me. Keep up the good work and trying to motivate others from falling into that spiral. Trust me it gets easier every year.....keep up the good work on yourself as well.

James, I just wanted to let you know I really respect and appreciate what you are doing.. I just got into my second flipped car crash after telling myself a year ago this would never happen to me again... both crashes I left with only scratches.. I had a dream about wrecking my car into a cemetery no less than one week ago.. I wrecked yesterday. I wasn't drunk this time, but I was hung over.. I know I got black out drunk on whiskey and DXM the other night before this.. after doing much better with my binges. I'm scared man! I don't want to drink, but I don't know what might happen tomorrow. Thank you man

I can’t believe you got through all of that, brother. I’m impressed by your will power to turn this around. One could never guess it by looking at you now. I’m trying to do this for myself. By trying, I mean I just think about it all the time but never can go through with it. I’m very high functioning, but after two or three days sober, I find myself at the liquor store. I don’t even remember the drive there. It has become an impulse, and mostly a crutch in my life. I can have one, be fine. The next one makes me friendly. The third one almost always entails some long conversation about something or other, flirtatious advances. It’s really very fun, but there’s an invisible line. One I can never see, and always cross by a mile. Im not sure what part of me it is that comes out then. But I don’t like him. I can’t stop it, and only notice afterwards when I’m sitting here with the same hangover that’s followed me for years now. I guess the reason I’m writing this is just to say something. But I found this video for a reason, I feel. And Since I’m here, do you have advice on how to tackle this before I find myself too deep in the sauce? Much love, brother. You’re an inspiration.

Thanks for your videos James. I honestly do feel that I have a problem... I don't drink everyday nor need it everyday... But when I do drink just one, I can't stop. I end up finishing people's leftovers and taking as much drink as I can home with me so that I can finish off at home till pass out time. Weird thing is, I went on a 30day No-Alcohol cleanse in the Covid Lockdown March 2020. It was so easy..... Then when the 30 days was over I just went back to where I was.... I know I am probably in denial, but I still want to figure out how and if this is a problem for me.... My entire life and social circle is around alcohol.... It's so difficult for me to go completely without... I don't know.. But nonetheless thanks for these videos! They really do make me think and I just got the AA book online so I can read through it. Keep well and all the best!
