Mostly because it dosnt build a true fan base in most cases Some ppl do benefit hard and made them become successful, but I'm sure those are businesses that sell products Vs being a music artist where the artist has to have real fans to support there careers in order to stay relevant For Music artist it's just tuff because most of the consumers are kids which aren't old enough to buy your merchandise, concert tickets etc. So sure your streams is doing good but when you book shows that 1 million followers is proba like 100k spread around the world if that makes sense
Tiktok definitely did a ton of damage to the music industry. Now labels use that as a metric to find new "stars" and it's delusional

Love the quotes around “stars”. Bc what they are is trendy moments. Labels give them a bit of change, sign them to 5 albums, recoup all the money off their one hit, and tuck em until they get another. And if not, they made all the $ back, plus profit, anyways.

Tiktok can make an artist blow tf up But to stay relevant in rap game you gotta make a core fanbase and got to have an unique style. But tiktok blowup rappers lack that. I feel like one of the very few who aren’t on TikTok, and I’m definitely okay with that. Great video as always!
I think the issue with TikTok popularity is the artists that blow up on the app don’t have core fanbases to substantiate their hype, like the reverse example I say is yeat. He blew up massively because of TikTok but he already had a built in fanbase so he didn’t fall off when the TikTok hype died down
Signing artists off of TikTok is a shot in the dark. You have to discern who's actually a music artist from who's riding a trend. Most labels are filled with people who don't know a thing about music, they bet on popularity with trends and put these social media artists next to bigger artists like Travis or Drake to make them look special.
The problem bout tiktok is dumb/naive/Young Hip Hop fans blinding team UP with ppl that hates Hip Hop or the culture creating anomaly artists as Lil mabu or Yuno Miles, or dumb claims like "carti is the goat, Kanye is right" and so on
One hit wonder is better than being unknown forever; think about models, actors, actresses who never had that opportunity to go viral or earn their $m. These music artists should be grateful
14:51 "Never Lose Me" is her song bro
Cant help but laugh at these rappers when there's tons of other artist especially in different genres barely making it year after year and being very humble with it. It's like these people only make music to make money and it's not something they enjoy doing....

Lil Boo Thang is some genuine Walgreens-Core music that'd be even more garbage if it hadn't sampled an actually-good song from the 70s. Was genuinely disgusted when I heard that trash on the radio. 🤢🤢🤮
rap isn't dying , the clout era is just finally coming to an end.
Armani is actually good, i think he's just stuck in a rut to figure out what direction suits him best but he'll get there. He all ready has the charisma and talent. His flows are crazy, they seem simple enough for anyone to join in on but they're deceptively tight.
@hlalisiwe.teressazuma569
17 күн бұрын
My point, if I had a label and a quality producer, I would sign him.
TikTok might have the youth, but you need the "grownups" to be big. And since a lot of the older people with jobs and bills to pay aren't generally on TikTok for music, they're not going to feel much about these young artists. But that's just my opinion.
Tik Tok made it even easier for plants to ground footing.
Take Ice Spice for example. She lost a big amount of monthly listeners in the last few weeks (at least from what i saw) so even ppl who got lucky with a tiktok song are starting to fall off
It's sad because many believe that these stars haven't been grinding hard to make success happen. Nardwuar's interviews with some of these rappers such as Flo Milli really show that despite the "I made it big with no effort" persona, they really love the craft and are passionate about music.
I never had a Tik Tok account and I ain't planning to that ish Toxic
@kasdan34
3 күн бұрын
Same here, man.
i think what happens is a lot of fame comes as a surprise to people who just "post their song and then it goes viral" so they have no idea how to manage the fame and presumed money that comes from it, so they panic and fumble the release of their next song, the fact tiktok audiences have such short attention spans means that they don't care about the artist or their music, just the specific soundbite (see steve lacy, that shit hurt to watch lmao). it puts them in a hard place, if i was an artist i'd rather have slow but consistent growth instead of jumping out of the blue but immediately be fighting to keep relevance once people stop using my track in their videos.
my biggest flex is that i don't--and _NEVER WILL_--have a tiktok , and i've heard of not ONE ☝🏽 of these "rappers" , ruining an entire genre. 😮💨🤦🏽♀️

Hands-down, I’m not gonna lie you for sure touched up on a lot of things that are true TikTok really is a powerful tool when it comes to getting streams and etc on songs
I feel like ppls attention spans are so short. They dont cling to artists they like and wait for threi new music unless their huge unique artists .As a listener of kpop, if you get one hit, you have to be consistent or you fall off a little becasue of how many groups debut everyday theres too much competition. And yes either fans are super loyal and ride for any song u do, but at dome point ppl might get board if ur not consistent in making good music, or not consistent with your concept, ppl start looking elsewhere. The journey isnt the same either. Where groups and solo artist had ro speand years to get attention wheil newbies dont have to do anything other than blow up because of their company or a good song
Love ure videos from Kenya
Great video!
Dayum.....the old mainstream hip hop songs was about the message and then it became about numbers. It's sad but people gotta eat.
Tik Tok dosnt build true hard-core fan bases that's the problem Of course there's a few outliers but as an artist you need a fan base that truly follows you show to show Many of these Tik Tok artist have 1 billion streams to exaggerate but most of those billion steams is mostly fun content or a dance trend or overall a bunch of kids that like the songs but aren't old enough to buy your merchandise and concert tickets etc.... So sure your numbers look fantastic on the internet but your real fans is probably 100k spread around the world which if your booking shows you can't fill the venue because your fan base is too small compared to what you originally thought

Like any art, you have to learn the fundamentals before you just branch out on your own most of the time. Yeah there are exceptions, but this industry is extremely saturated and competitive. You can't just assume one thing like tiktok will be your easy way in. You have to network. Build from the ground up so you have a decent foundation. Then after you learn the fundamentals and you put in work and earn trust in your fans AND those at the top, you can start doing things on your own. Nothing in this world is easy. Ever. If you're afraid of hard work, then you're definitely in the wrong field.

having a viral hit shouldnt be a negative thing for an artist if more success is the goal and the situation is handled correctly
The harsh truth is if you came in the game like that or based your career blowin up off social media you will always be known as that viral artist not a real artist especially if you aint neva mastered your craft from the ground up or been passionate bout your art then we can see your just a gimmick.

someone said it true " the easier the success, the faster is the way to downfall" , there are no shortcuts to success one has to realise you have to grind and actually be hard working to see the mainstream instead of using shortcuts like tik tok and Instagram 🤷🏾♀️
Talent is no longer based on talent and just catchy beats . So many artist are going to suffer if Tik tok goes down .
I remember back during the 2000s an artist could drop a dope project then go ghost for 2 to 3 years before they dropped their next one and fans would be right back like they never left. Definitely not happening nowadays.
