As a citizen of a country where TikTok was banned a few years ago (India), let me tell you what actually happened here. Once the TikTok was banned, yes there was a huge rush on KZread and Instagram. But TiktTokers didn't succeed on KZread. There was a huge war between the established youtubers and the tiktokers who came to youtube. KZreadrs and Tiktokers were roasting each other in every possible way. Finally, the TikTokers moved to Instagram. Along with that, something unexpected happened. A large number of Indian short video apps came into market and creators started moving there too. Those apps were paying creators from the very beginning. Out of all those, 2-3 apps really made it big here. KZread Shorts and Instagram Reels also came around that time. India was a huge market and TikTok ban in India was big for all the platforms.

Great video! As someone who works in PR and Marketing I am watching this closely (I'm based in the US). I am weighing out my spend with influencers vs my direct ad buys on the different platforms. This will be interesting to watch and participate in as I am also going to relaunch my platforms next month.

I'm already starting to see channels pop up with only shorts, multiple uploads per day. I can only imagine the migration has begun. and I DON't LIKE IT lol

Very interesting video, I've never used Tik Tok - but when I saw you demonstrate the application, it made me think of Facebook Reels. I gather Reels came along after the success of Tik Tok, but is generating content for Reels or Instagram technically different from Tik Tok? Do you make one video and edit based on the platform? When I see the quality of the videos on KZread, it seems like a LOT of work goes into making them - let alone making them interesting subjects for people to watch, so I applaud all you content creators. I mostly watch technical content, but I got curious about the pending Tik Tok ban and how creators were reacting to it.

Ah well, if they ban it they'll all have to just TikTok & Clip Clop down to the job centre.

@@Elvischannel01That’s not true. The people that use (not create) prefer the less curated nature of TikTok and that’s not instagram. Creators will switch but not in large numbers because TikTok shares more with non followers which allows for faster growth.

How do you qualify “establishing an audience”? I’ve been on instagram for a year now with 1,625 followers and a several videos in the past month have gone mini viral (250,000-500,000 views). Am I f’d if a bunch of users from TikTok move over? I’ve had the most success in the past month but a lot of accounts I follow and know are having a hard time this month - possibly because the influx of users has already started.

TikTok getting banned might revive vine so I see this as a win

Do you feel like KZread shorts has a nice layout? I’m having trouble adjusting to it after using TikTok for so long.

You're not wrong with the rush. It happened years ago with Vine. Vine was pretty much similar in content as it was a short form, and if you look up "Vine compliations" if there's any left, you would have sworn that it was TikTok but years prior. The only difference between the two times is TikTok users DO have shorts and Reels when before Viners only had Reels I think, and it wasn't a fully used yet at the time. And a lot of people who switched to youtube had to relearn a whole different method of content because Shorts weren't out yet. So it'll be intresting to see if what happens is what happened with the ban in India or if it'll be similar to Viners where they would have to relearn everything and morph into something else and into a different generation. (Logan Paul, Gabby Hanna, and Jessie Smiles were Viners before they switched to youtube if you were curious what I mean by different generation)

Imagine a world where everyone lays on their back as a machine force feeds them ground up leftovers. Calling tik tok users content creators is like calling that machine a chef. Oh no, what ever shall the chef do when they put the force feeding machine out of business?

Very good information. Here I am thinking that my background is boring because it's always the same, when really my audience is remembering me because of it. That makes so much sense.

Do you think that, with this ban, places that TikTok didn't had a monetization structure will have one? For example, LatAm that has a huge audience and creators, but doesn't monetize yet. Or perhaps other platforms will once that influx of money come over there, like IG that hasn't fully open the monetization on LatAm either.

I don't think TikTok will get banned. And even if it does... KZread is the smartest place for them to go. But hopefully, TikTok Creators are building up a second platform in case it does get banned. Some creators are going to be scrambling to regather their audience on a different platform if they wait until it actually goes into effect. You hit on some really good points because you also mentioned that the content that's typically on TikTok will not perform as well on other platforms so it's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

Thanks for another insightful video, Jade! My peers and I were discussing this very same thing last month and have already started encouraging our supporters on TikTok to keep in touch with us via alternative platforms. This is a good lesson in the need to diversify and not get complacent on social media.

This whole TikTok ban craziness has made me realize just how seriously detached from reality and from life part of humanity has become. "People will be panicking" "They'll be posting everything and anything and a lot of it!" "Sense of urgency" "Posting 3-4 times a day" It's really very sad to know that so many have forgotten how to live and breathe. If the sense of urgency to post everything on the Internet for attention and validation is so strong that people are panicking if they can't post, then something is very very wrong. If people would just put down their phones, step outside, listen to birds, grab a book, talk to one another, smell the air and just learn how to live again, none of this would matter and these giant social media corporations would no longer have such a strong hold on humans. (and no, I am not on TikTok, never been interested in it)

It won’t affect KZread. KZread has always had strict security measures.

But they won’t be successful over here posting more, unlike TikTok and Instagram if you over post they will get annoyed and unsubscribe and stop watching your videos for a long period of time… over posting doesn’t work on KZread.

I do think that there will be an increase in content creators on KZread, instagram and X etc but the users won’t move. The closest to TikTok is Snapchat. One thing being ignored by those that use the platform not create. Is that they prefer the less curated and polished content. I think reels will be flooded and ytshorts but not in large numbers.

I am not a video creator, but I wouldnt rush to go to IG either. I have grown to not trust them. Wishing all content creators the very best, because at the end of the day your time, money and all the effort you put into what you do is very valuable and I dont think you are being justly rewarded. Just saying.

My videos are doing better on Instagram and KZread than TikTok.

Explain to me how me using it as a creator to sell my products is a security threat to the US? I could see it not being allowed on gov't workers phones and such, but I don't have any information that would be a threat to our national security. I think a total ban is ridiculous and I really think they don't like how so many people are making money on TikTok and our gov't wants them back in the workforce. I think they are gaslighting us!

I hope TT gets banned so much. You make good points about what the result of a ban may be and I'm just glad that since learning I'm neurodivergent and how much it's been impacting me my whole life I won't care about most of the things you identified. Doing things the way the masses do does not work for me or align with my values so I won't be jumping through any hoops in response to the change. It feels so good to finally understand I have very legitimate reasons to go my own way and stroll right on past all of the usual drama to carve a path that works for me (and that I know so many other people crave over the usual noise and nonsense).

Me too. I have adhd and I deleted TikTok awhile ago. It’s really dangerous for our brains, the way they work, we get obsessive and endlessly fall into rabbit holes. I wasted so much time doing nothing. And I didn’t even enjoy it

But TikTok is only a scroll and tap app, KZread and Instagram both have different features added onto them. KZread, has long form content, and always has had it, and not to mention that WAY more influencers would be impacted if it was KZread instead getting banned other then TikTok. And, Instagram being deleted wouldn’t be as much of an impact as KZread being banned, but then again Instagram isn’t just made upon reels, they also have many creators on there that can upload pictures on their lives and how they are doing, they can also connect with their audience a lot more. None of them should get banned.
