TikTok getting banned would be a terrible proposition. Why should everyone on the platform be punished just because of a few bad apples? Besides, if it does get banned, these challenges will simply spread to other platforms.

I don't use TikTok but I do think it's stupid that congress and the president will put regulations on the platforms (and other social medias based in other countries) but not on the ones founded in the US when Tumblr, FaceBook, Instagram, KZread, Twitter ('X'), and other US social media platforms literally do the exact same thing(s) that TikTok does (selling user data and any information associated with user data). I could be missing something with that, but whose to say they wouldn't one day try to pass laws that would affect other social media in the future? Even if it's not an outright ban, government control and regulation of any social media platform and how/if it functions is unsettling. I really hope this ban fails for that reason.

Tiktok is quite stringent against VPN's you need to be in the country your VPN is on for 30 days before you can actually use that account so unless you're shilling big bucks, USA is screwed. I'm actually glad, finally some quality fucking content

You should not be upset about this. Yh its crap for the businesses that use it. But should we allow a security risk to continue because of the people who use it? For starters you shouldn't put all your eggs in 1 basket. If you have a platform on TikTok then you should always be working on a back up, somewhere else. This includes those on KZread or Twitch. TikTok should be banned world wide. You wouldn't let Hitler live because his family would be upset if he was murdered.
