Dude’s a legend in his own time. The fact this guy takes the time to interact with his fans... not just the fans of his music but fans of his guitar playing as an art. That’s awesome.

He’s incredibly underrated in my opinion. He’s one of the few left that not only knows how to play, write songs and genuinely sing.

For both right handers and left handers. Amazing! 😁
It's so cool to have a legendary guitarist like that just giving master tips for anyone that plays the instrument, just to raise the bar a lil bit
John Mayer is the most generous of musical artists sharing his trade secrets so others can play like him. Who does that? Love it. Love him
There is nobody comparable to you on the guitar John. You have a phenomenal gift my man

I love that tone! Hoping to break away from work long enough this weekend to study this. Thanks john!
Love these tutorial vignettes. Amazing, John.
That tone and this song. Incredible.
Thanks for saving and uploading these clips. Very helpful!
Friggin love this Mr. Mayer! Big thanks
Amazing guy... author, composer and amazing guitar player
Just brilliant! Always good to see what the right hand and left hand are doing lol!
Incredible song. I enjoy playing this on my guitar.
John, youre amazing. Thank you for teaching me this.
Thanks for sharing this. I’ll try my best at this.
I love his home in LA. He’s always had great taste.
Johns pretty amazing for doing this, what a treat
Thank you for the tip, I didn’t even know that that was an inversion, thank you

It's not actually and inversion because he is playing the root with his thumb in the bass. The lowest note is an A. The upper part of the chord is an inversion. He is correct (obviously), but it's really more of a voicing of the chord. As a task, try to find A C# E all the way up the neck. On adjacent strings (Intervals 3-3,4-3,3-4) and on strings that are not adjacent (6-5,5-6,6-6). If you do this for each of the chords, you'll start to see the whole key signature up and down the neck, and you can play the song anywhere on the guitar. Start to see more than the shapes you know. Look for what is the same and different in each chord - one to the next. Just THINK, and LISTEN. ENJOY!

@@noahguttell1953 What do you mean the upper part of the chord is an inversion? 5xx45x is Asus2 and 5x765x is just a normal A, no? Removing the bass note makes xxx45x (not an inversion) and xx765x (normal triad), no?
Beautiful tone...❤...
Still waiting for Continuum Vol. 2
J♥️HN Mayer! You manage to amaze in a ew seconds! Please make sure you get to Vultures, love that song. Love Ya! 😍
Also, C# is the relative minor to E major. That's why the E feels like "going home". They both feel like the 1. Your C# minor pentatonic is your E major pentatonic.
One of the best songs of all time
Beautiful.
Dreamy. Middle bit touched near Allman Bros (Ramblin’ Man) type vibe.
He is an amazing talent!!!!
Im a techno and synth pop kid but I've always been a fan of his. Great style and can make Dave Chappelle laugh. A wonderfully recovered ego addict. The world appreciates you!

Thanks for putting these up!! You see so many others transcribing these but all are a bit different. Now I just need the OMJM😂 Years ago I passed a great deal on a OM28jm wish I hadn't.
Yes John it rlly helps thank you Mr Mayer
That tone...man...
That's a really Nice 🎸 and color.
He’s lovely
what a brilliant room too
Que hombre tan guapo!!!💐
Free lessons from the man himself! 🙏🏽
Love it
Genious!
So very sweet...✌️😁💙
genius!
I'm learning, well slowly slowly learning it. I can't get the notes to sustain when fingerprinting the double stops on the 12th and 14th frets and then doing the slide to the 14th and 16th
@stever9301

I had the same issue. Try finding the notes around the 4th fret C#m position which lead into the A and E shapes easily.

It will come eventually. Just take time and something will click and make sense/work. It varies when the “click” or “lightbulb” moment happens so be patient.
that tone🥵🥵🥵
When you know things... right geeze.. awesome. Btw what about that guitar color... sick
It's a really simple song I learned it by ear
Ya alright john
Wow an inverted invertion, thanks
The tricky thing is to play it by strumming the chords with a pick and muting the right strings. He also plays it with a pick.
#guitar #guitartok #guitarist Tks.
John and Tom Bukovac need to collab.
Bro I really expected to learn something, but I already knew what hebjust explained
5xx45x is Asus2 and 5x765x is just a normal A, no? how are any of those an inversion?
By any chance was Dire Straits an influence? Sounds very Knopfler when you do the inversions
How does one achieve that tone
This is one of the songs that makes me wanna buy an electric guitar

How do I reverse the video, so I can follow his fingers more easily? Great tips, but hard to follow...

You can go to the settings on the video and slow down the video speed which will allow you a general sense of where fingers are. that helps.
