well the weasleys are a pure-blood family but they are regarded as blood traitors. So they no longer count as pure-blood. also, a theory that I have thought of is that magic could be genetic. Like muggleborns might have a witch or wizard in their family lineage. For example, Hermione Granger was muggle born, but there was a time where Slughorn thought she was related to some wizard named Hector Dagworth-Granger, who invented some kind of famous spell. While the character was only mentioned once so he and Hermione have no relation, maybe he could have been a distant ancestor. Again, this is probably not true, just a thought.

Harry is a half blood (Mother lily is a muggle, whereas Dad James is a pure blood), same as both Voldemort (muggle dad, witch mam) and Snape (not sure on heritage but he is the half blood prince)

There is also the Granger and Crouch family. Harry had 3 father figures in Hagrid, Sirius and Dumbledore. Harry also had 3 wands that were loyal to him his own, Draco’s and the elder wand.

I think it counts that three mother's save Harry's life from Voldemort. His own mother because the power of love, his aunt Petunia because she shares her sister's blood thus having a protection spell until his 17th year, and Draco Malfoy's mom who lie to Voldemort after finding out her son was still alive.

@@catgirl7765 I wasn't calling the theory crazy, I was just saying that maybe someone was reading too much into it. But now that I've thought about it a bit more, I actually think this is some really great foreshadowing and attention to detail from the author.

1) Ted Tonks, Dean Thomas and Gornuk - tried to escape Voldemort and the ministry as a trio. 2) Voldemort 's original name was Tom Marvolo Riddle (three word name) 3) Harry's Children also had three word names : James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter, Lilly Luna Potter. 4) Dumbledore was offered the position of Minister of magic 3 times, refusing it everytime. (It is a reference to Julius Caesar refusing the crown three times as mentioned in Mark Antony's speech after the assassination of Caesar). 5) Ron, Fred and George were the 3 people who came to rescue Harry from the Dursleys in the beginning of Chamber of Secrets.

The Black Sister trio is my favourite trio They’re so different, and because of that, they’re similar🖤🖤🖤

- Bill & Fleur had 3 kids (Victoire, Dominic & Louis - Remus, Tonks & Teddy is a family of tree - 3 out of the 4 marauders are related leaving 1 out (James & Sirius are related someway & Remus became their relative when he married tonks) - There are 3 known Bloodlines which is PureBlood, Half-Blood, & Muggle Born - Harry won 3 times in a row in quidditch - Ruby Trio(? Idk what others called it) this trio was another group that draco was apart of but instead of Crabbe & Goyle they were switched with Pansy & Blaise

Especially in Thomas and Friends. 3 engines were the first to work on the railway, 3 engines went on strike when they didn't want to shunt coaches. One of which was Henry, who was the third engine on the railway. He even had "3" painted on his tender.

I think this all connects with in real life religions and in mythology. Like in Greek mythology, there’s three brothers, Zeus, Poseidon, an Hades. Like the brothers, there’s three sisters. Three realms, the heavens, earth, and the underworld. And how the Trojan war began was Paris choosing one of three goddesses who was the most beautiful. Hera, Athena and Aphrodite. So the number 3 shows up a lot in mythology and in religion.

In the fourth book, you have to solve THREE mini riddles to solve for the sphinx to get the big picture.

Amazing how often you found the number 3. Normally I think of the number 7 in Harry Potter, so I never realized how often the 3 appears. However I can think of five more examples: 1. There are three Grangers 2. When Harry first meets Ron he says he wished to have three wizard brothers 3. Three of the four Hogwarts relicts were turned into horcruxes 4. When Hagrid showed his class some Thestrals there were three students that could see them (Harry, Luna and Neville) 5. The Knight Bus is a Tripple Decker

There's also a couple in the final battle: Ernie McMillan, Luna Lovegood, and Seamus Finnigan all cast Patronuses to ward off dementors who are swarming the golden trio; Slughorn, McGonagall, and Kingsley Shacklebolt are all fighting Voldemort before Harry arrives; before Molly going up to fight (and kill) Bellatrix she was duelling Luna, Ginny, and Hermione. Oh, and another one, is that there were three Gryffidor girls in Harry's year, Lavender, Parvati, and Hermione, though the friend group was Lavender, Parvati, and Padma. And one more, there are three different balls in quidditch: a quaffle, bludgers, and a golden snitch

I agree that the punishement Dumbledore's father got is harsh IF you know why he attacked the boys. But he never revealed why he killed them because he didn't want Ariana to be locked up. So his accusers probably assumed he did it simply because he hated muggles. Considering this the punishment makes sense.

Great video. I think it should also be noted that the rule of 3 is a very common writing technique which can be conscious and unconscious. Seven is an extension of the rule of 3 as 6 is an even number and so in writing is uncomfortable as there is no northern point. e.g. if a scene has 6 people, there is no central character whereas in a 3, 5 or 7 the main character is flanked by equal numbers on each side.

I guess I've always noticed the '7' thing but this is new! :))

The numbers 3 and 7 being significant also found in LOTR may be borrowed from consciously or subconsciously. 3 Hallows - 3 Silmaril, 7 Horcruxes - 7 Dwarven Rings.

I have 3 more examples for things you have forgotten: 1.By the time of the 3rd book there are 3 marauders alive (I love the reunion scene in both the book and the movie). 2.Remus is an only child, so he and his parents were another trio. 3.Speaking of Remus he married Nymphadora Tonks and had Teddy, so for a short while they were 3 as well.

Early potterheads! where are you?

A couple from the HP Wiki: Fluffy, the three-headed dog, guarded the passage to the sorcerer's stone in the 3rd floor corridor: Harry was 1 yr and 3 months old when Voldemort murdered his parents And having recently seen the films, there are a handful I can recall (not sure if it lines up with the books): in the dungeon in Malfoy Manor, there are 3 "people" locked up when Harry and Ron are thrown in: Ollivander, Griphook, and Luna; protection charms are used in groups of 3, both when the golden trio use them in the wilderness (Protego Maxima, Salvio Hexia, and Repellum Mugglum (sp?) and when the professors use them to protect Hogwarts before the battle (Protego Maxima + 2 others I can't remember the name of).

This was a video I wasn’t expecting but it sure is a good one

Fun fact: the numbers three and seven were both used a lot in fairytales like snowwhite and the seven dwarfs and how there’s three Cinderella movies

In all fairness, 3 and 7 show up in a lot of places across mythology and fiction in general. Anyways, a few more 3s: Hogwarts is divided into 3 of what I believe would be called forms in Muggle British schooling: Beginner: Years 1-2, everyone takes te 7 core classes. Middle: Years 3-5: Everyone continues taking the core classes and adds 2-3 electives. Concludes with the OWL exams. Advanced: Years 6-7: Students can drop core classes if they want to and may drop their electives. Concludes with the NEWT exams. Also, Harry had 3 Good DADA teachers(LUpin, Fake Moody, and Snape) and 3 bad DADA instructors(Quirrel, Lockhart, and Umbitch) Dumbledore had three middle names and held three positions of authority. three of the Horcruxes where destroyed with Gryffindor's sword(The Locket, the Ring, and Nagini). Three of the Book titles reference powerful magical artifacts(Philosopher's Stone, Goblet of Fire, and Deathly Hallows). There are three main classes of offensive spell: Jinx, Hex, and Curse. More Trios: Three Weasley brothers Harry was close to(Ron, Fred, and George), 3 Weasley Brothers he had looser ties too(Bill, Charlie, and Percy), 3 Prewett Siblings(Molly, Fabeian and Giddeon), 3 significant Half-Bloods with miserable childhoods(Harry, Tom, and Snape), 3 Gryffindor Girls in Harry's year that are mentioned regularly(Hermione, Lavender, and Parvati). There are 3 types of coin used by Wizards: Knuts, Sickles, and Galleons. Harry has had 3 adventures involving Dragons: Norberta, THe First Task, and the Gringotts Heist. Each Hogwarts house has 3 prefects of each sex at any given time. There are 3 standard pets allowed at Hogwarts: Owls, Toads, and Cats. Three of the Heads of House during Harry's time at Hogwarts have Alliterative names. And while another commenter mentioned a few characters with 3-part names, I don't think that really counts since 3-part names are the norm in the English speaking world... Though, Harry Potter is rather unusual in just how many of its characters have known middle names when so many other works of fiction will only give use a afirst and last name for characters who can, by naming norms of the real world culture the setting is embedded within, be assumed to have middle names... and with how some works don't even give us character's last names or give us last names but then leave characters' parents unnamed or similar.

Old man in cemetery, Barty crouch senior and Cedric digary 4. Harry uses spell 3 times outside of Hogwarts when he was in underage 5. Harry raides 3 different flying creatures Buckpeak, Dragon in Gringgards and Thestrals 6. Harry went Ministry of magic 3 times 7. 3 House elfs Dobby, Kreacher and Winky

I think the use of three is a reference to the Greek Goddess Hecate. She was the goddess of the moon and magic. She's also known as the triple goddess with three parts. Maiden, Mother, Crone. It could also be a tribute to the Three Fates of Greek mythology and the three Norns of Nordic mythology.

i dont think the number three is that significant. I'd bet in almost any book or movie series there would be plenty of instances of things happening three times, or groups of three. Three is just a good number because each member balances the other out. 2 is too few, and 4 is too many.

"Why is it when something happens, it is always you three?"

True you can't blame Albus's father, but remember how the Ministry reacts to anyone endangering the Statute of Secrecy. It was endangering the statute, not the assault on the boys that gained him the harsh punishment.

For example, in the books Harry has green eyes but Daniel Radcliffe has blue eyes in the movies. Just though this would be a cool video idea and I would love to see it. Keep up the good work!

It's interesting how 3&7 are lucky numbers that are both next to unlucky numbers 4&6 I know it's not really related but it's something I just noticed

Ofcourse there are many of 3s. It's one of the faritails number. Besides 7, no.3 is the most common. Good job of numbering the n.3s.

Now if you could find a way to explain the obsession with socks and the color purple in the books that would be great. I did a search and socks are named something like 40 times in the books. It may not be that high but it’s high. And she uses purple to describe many thing. Or shades of it like lilac or lavender. It is very prevalent and more so than one of the two colors wizards usually wear in public. Check it out I checked socks are mentioned 76 times thru the 7 books. That’s more than 10 times per book on average!

I'm still very impressed with your work and I do hope when I copy and pasted my "Life of" story based around your narrative style that you were flatter. Again, I'm so impressed with your work I couldn't think of anyone else who do them if they're real. And I'm able to pick up narrtives really easy. As for three? I think Dobby tried three times in the second book to save harry before being set free. At the dursley, platform 9/3 and the bludger. He did those three before he was set free. And in the third book Harry meets his father three friends in the same year. SInce no one knew Scabbers was Wormtail it doesn't count till he's forced to become human again.

The lovegoods were a family of three, as were the Lupins,Tonks’s and probably a few others. Never truly realised the importance of three. Great video Morgan :) Edit: technically after dumbledores death Snape knew about the horcurxes but after his death there was only three

@@humairahkazi2459well considering she was 9 I think we can still count it as a trio that became a pair. There was enough time with her mother for it to count in my opinion. He also counts the Potters who had 1 year together

There were McGonagall, Kingsley, and Slughorn who fought against Voldemort during the battle of Hogwarts. Hermione, Ginny, and Luna fought against Bellatrix.
