The Terrifying Truth About Max Verstappen Nobody is Noticing

Ойын-сауық

Max Verstappen, much like the legendary Michael Schumacher did with Ferrari in the past, has firmly established himself as the driving force in Formula 1. These are two drivers who have defined their eras in F1. Schumacher seemed untouchable in his time, and Verstappen appears to be following suit. However, there are some terrifying aspects of Verstappen's dominance that may make his era even more formidable than Schumacher's. While Verstappen still has a journey ahead to match Schumacher's tally of titles, there are certain qualities in the Dutch driver that are not receiving enough attention.

There is an important difference between Sch in Adelaide and Ver in Abu: Sch's actions *lead* to the controversy there, while Max played no part in the Abu controversy. In Abu Max could not be faulted. Sch certainly could.

Max can break 7titels. But the question will be: when is he too bored to race and seeks another challenge. Before or after his 8th titlw. Plus one caveat: if 2026 rules change affects red bull and ford if they do not get the engine right... that would open up max seeking another team... Ferrari maybe?

Max has more talent that Hamilton and Schumacher. Sadly successess like Ham and Schu’s still needs a dominant car for a decade

I don't think it is the driver that is defining this era of F1. It is the superiority of the car over the competition. The same was true of the dominant spells of Schumacher, Vettel and Hamilton. The only drivers you can objectively compare are the ones in the same team, and even then it is rare that they get exactly the the same opportunity. One usually gets the rub with spec, upgrades or team orders.

Hamilton is not really on MS level. Verstappen is clearly running away with it. Telemetry alone tells how it is. Hamilton sure is really good, but his car was comparatively better than what Max has, and the competition ceiling was retarded then, as the two most gifted drivers in Max and Charles weren´t present. That needs to be taken into account. The cars weren´t driven as fast as somebody better could drive them. Bottas, Perez, Rosberg, Ricciardo, Alonso all about as fast. Let Hamilton drive the car and be slower than Max. It is what it is. Max has the most input as far as setup, and he never misses. His car is the most volatile on the grid, and requires the smoothest input. There is a reason why he saves tires better than anyone else while about as fast, or a bit faster, but drives considerably more consistently, as he predicts the behaviour better. There is not much magic in it. The car is fast, but it has its problems aswell. Perez is far from bad. Even a chased Verstappen is the fastest, and his teammate, who is not a bad driver, can´t hang at all. Max drives the car with a setup too smooth to emulate for anyone to match what he does. They would have to relent on the volatility of the setup, and drive less laps. There is a reason why Perez´s tires degrade faster, when they drive about samey time laps. Barrichello and Montoya were as good as Hamilton, yet they never really matched Schumacher as equals. They lit a real fire under his ass, but they clearly weren´t as good. The spreadsheet tells the story. Mika was the 2nd best back then, and he was better than Hamilton or LeClerc. DC was also as fast as Mika, when he didn´t hold back on challenging the number one of the team. What is a shame, is the progression of Ralf Schumacher, who was just kinda there. He was as good as Michael, but he let the explosive yappier brother do his thing, and he stayed "in line". Ralf was never really pushing it, but he sometimes did display speed that defied the car in a way, that not even Montoya could do. He had what it takes in spades. He was quoted a good few times he was content with not contesting with Michael, and he was just kinda an F1 "guy" and a part of the family, and "there" for Michael.

Nice video, BUT!!! Max is undoubtedly a great driver, but the stats you're trying to compare aren't comparable. Nowadays you can get up to 25 points and extra points for the fastest lap, in the past it was only 10. In recent years, there have also been an average of 6 more races per season plus sprint races. And another question is whether Max will be able to win a title with a different brand, as Schumi did.

I think the big similarities between Schumacher and Verstappen that sets them apart from Hamilton is that they are number one driver, the other driver is a support driver. Hamilton has always had to compete with his team mate, that is not to say his team mates have not helped him..

Heikki Kovalainen and Valetteri Bottas? Those two team mates account for 6 of Hamilton's championships and they were most definitely #2 drivers.

@@visorcover Bottas often fought at the front with Hamilton and there was not often team orders to favour Hamilton... But you have also been very selective, Hamilton's other team mates include Alonso (World Champion), Button (Wold Champion), Rosberg (World Champion) and a very strong young driver Russell. Where as Verstappen has had Sainz (Won only 3 races in 188) Riccardo (Won 8 races in 245), Gasly (1 win in 136), Albon (0 wins in 87) and Perez (just 6 wins in 236 despite having fastest or competitive car for several years now). Verstappen's team mates have one just 18 races compared to Hamilton's team mates that have won 82 races.. Yes Hamilton has raced in 338 races compared to Verstappens 191 but even taking that into account Verstappen has has had lower quality team mates. As Rosberg recently said nobody wants to be Verstappens team mate because you would be second driver, thats nothing new but no other team has quite such a disparity when it comes to team orders than RedBull..

@@steve11211 Button beat Hamilton, Rosberg beat Hamilton. Alonso drew with Hamilton. The very simple fact is, Hamilton won 1x WDC totally on merit (2008) but had a very weak team mate and 6x WDC due to the superiority of the Merc Hybrid PU. 2014-2020, any Merc driver would have won the championship (bar 2018). If you dont think the 2014-2021 Merc was unbelievably superior; Russell jumping in to Lewis's car in 2020 at Sakhir and plonking it on the front row 0.053 secs behind Bottas, leading in to turn 1 and pretty much would have won the race were it not for the dubious tyre calls. And George is a particularly 'average' driver according to most Hamilton fans. I know it must be difficult for some to see their idol fall down the grid and it must be easy to denigrate other drivers abilities to make them feel better about why he is falling down the grid but unless Hamilton has the most dominant car; he is on par with the rest of the great drivers. He has never truly succeeded in just a 'competitive car' and his ability to adapt and feel for a car that isn't the most superior does appear to be in question.

@@visorcover You have totally missed the point, Hamilton's team mates have been allowed to compete for the championship, he has had to compete against multiple world champions in his own team... F1 has for the most part been more about the car than the driver, when Hamilton has had a car that can win the championship he has had to fight against team mates, Rosberg beat Hamilton one year, the other years he beat Rosberg, but he had to fight for it all the time... Perez is told to just get out of the way of Max or they compromise Perez pit strategy to get Max ahead.. Hamilton has not just been gifted his titles like Verstappen, he has fought and yes sometimes lost but still been up there.. Alonso is an Awesome driver with multiple world championships and in his first ever season in F1 when Alonso was around his best and Hamilton was a rookie he matched him, he has been up against much better drivers, I agree that often the drivers championship is down to the best car, but the difference with Hamilton and Verstappen/Schumacher was the second driver was the second driver for Verstappen and Schumacher, they were there to get points for the team but ultimately the lead driver was the main focus and the second driver needed to get out of the way or compromise to help the lead driver... What a complete load of rubbish, you point to Rosberg beating Hamilton and being world champion, but then seem to think he was an also ran when Hamilton won multiple championships against him. In the best car on the grid for over 2yrs and Perez has only ever one 6 races, even when Max crashes or breaks down Perez can't win.. You don't win 7 drivers championships by being "on par" with other drivers. Hamilton like Alonso is past his peak, Schumacher came back to F1 and struggled, but both drivers still have the race craft and are a joy to watch them battle on track.. RedBull are falling apart, losing Newey is a huge blow and other teams have reported a surge in CV's from RedBull employees. 2026 will be new rules, RedBull will build their own engine so will be on the back foot, it will be interesting to see if Max also leaves, the problem is he can't go to Ferrari which would be the natural first choice, at Mclaren he could not dictate to be no1 driver with Noris, Mercedes could be an option but again he would not get the same level of one sided as he does at RB so does he stay? I would like to see him win in another car and Mercedes would be the most likely to succeed if they can turn things around.
