The way Zaheer killed the Earth Queen was some kind of slow asphyxation, but theoretically, they can just violently pull all the air from your lungs and instantly collapse/crush them. Basically an instant-kill move.

This theory is so exaggerated If gyatso did that, how come we can see some clutters all around the place? Like necklace, weapon, etc. If it's truly vacuum area, before gyatso did that, he need to make that giant ball of air, right? In the beginning that means some air gonna encircle him. That means any objects in the wind path gonna be pushed to all over the place

I always thought it would be neat for air benders to manipulate sound, since it’s the vibration of air. They could create powerful sonic attacks.

Yep, which is why I really think they naturally evolved into nomads. If they didn't, they would have torn themselves apart with fighting, combat and extreme abilities like this

What happens if airbenders decide to raise the temperature in the air to where it’s extremely hot? Would the victim die from heat stroke if that happened?

they can, but it would require compressing the air around them, firebenders have a huge advantage here, as do waterbenders with their freezing techniques. Basically Waterbenders and Firebenders are the Omni-man meme "look what they (Airbenders) have to do to mimic a fraction of our power"

Fire benders seem to have to generate the flames and heat close to their bodies: Breath, hands and feet. They don't just look at stuff and cause it to heat up or burst into flames. Unless, I missed it, I don't remember seeing any fire bender create heat or flames away from their bodies.

INFLATING A PERSON'S BODY LIKE A BALLOON UNTIL IT BURST

Imo it's very possible for them to control or manipulate sound, be it for stealth application, secret communication, echo locating, as a form of offense, and, it's a stretch, but I think some form of animal communication can be done. Another exploit is vacuum creation or explosion if somehow they can manipulate atom in the air

Wouldn't firebenders be able to do a similar variation of this technique? Given that they could also manipulate temperatures. Firelord Sozin could extract heat from lava, a similar thing could be done to a human body.

Firebenders can also kill you with excess heat much faster than freezing you. I'd much rather have liquid nitrogen thrown at me than fire burning at several thousand degrees.

No, actually out of all the four bendings, fire bending comes from the body, it doesn't need an element around it to bend unlike other elements, fire simply comes out in their body. Therefore firebenders can't control or command the fire of another persons body, they are only limited to their own

Heat regulation is an essential part of survival. To do control the temperature of others is truly evil.

Air is actually an OP element, the writers just nerfed it.

I’d still say blood bending is more powerful, as it can be done quickly and at a decent range of space, on multiple people if the bender is trained right.

In Tibetan culture, the inspiration for airbenders, there is a school called wind yoga. Practitioners are able to maintain a warm body temperature in the cold without warm clothes. One of the tests is for the practitioner to wear a wet cloth in the cold and dry the cloth with the heat of the body.

Actually seen this on a NatGeo show. A monk went into a small igloo type Stone Hut and there was snow all around outside the hut. He took a towel and placed it in a bucket of cold water and they put the infrared heat on his hands in the temperature slowly went out to 130°. I presume he could do that to his whole body.

0:30 I just knew it was gonna be something that makes waterbending and firebending useless and just.. OUTCLASS THEM with it, i just knew it. Just the name: "heat regulation" is an hint obvious enough before even going to 0:45 and later on.

Blood bending is more stronger, as it is faster to bend blood than to take someone's breath away. Zaheer took about 30 seconds to kill the Queen.

@@eurekabossele1939You’re comment is relevant, however, 30 seconds is a pretty long while compared to 8 seconds. Which is how long it roughly takes to blackout and cause brain damage when without oxygen(air). Increasing damage as time goes by, eventually, if not ultimately, leading to death. Cold air will take the air right out of you, but syphoning it seems easier. If range is the airbenders crutch then the time it takes to kill definitely is not. IMO

*The Airbenders can be considered a great threat* because everyone needs air to survive , to breathe but just like Blood bending for Water, Metal bending Earth , and Lava bending for Fire. *Airbenders can remove the air from a persons body or expand it inside the body or eliminate vast amount of air from the atmosphere to destroy enemies* while they remain unaffected isolating air to themselves and removing, expanding or eliminating at will. *Airbenders are a OP threat* there just written as weaker in the Avatar series but they are dangerous

Imagine if an Airbender formed a hyperbaric chamber like effect around someone. Crush them under 50x air pressure for a moment before releasing .. or going the opposite and full vacuum around them, and not just crush the lungs .. The things we already can and Do in war are horrid, I can only imagine the terror of unrestrained Bending.

Weird that temperature bending is based on airbending and not firebending where heat is a source. Also just like Zaheer with his asphyxiating air out of the Earth Queen, it's not instantaneous. Although it does hint that to survive in an airbend room you can regulate air pressure around you to survive it.

Firebenders certainly can regulate temperatures as we see Roku doing on the volcano, however for affecting body temperature it does not work. Most likely because rock has no problem being heated up with fire, but obviously the human body can't take that

You might be onto something here. And I have a theory... Azula could smoke bend all along. For example, she got away from the gang + zuko + Iroh and hit Iroh with a lightning bolt to cause a distraction, I'm speculating she used smoke bending to escape the moment all attention went on Iroh (to be honest can't see the physics behind blending body with smoke but this is Azula lol). Another example is her pretending to be a spirit. If you read more on Azula's story after the show she pretends to be a "Child Abduction Spirit" which used to be folklore in the Firenation. And her method of disappearing after an abduction / confrontation was always smoke.

Wait this was also my idea back then 😭 Ive also thought of this 😅 I call it specifically... *Heatwave* and *Blizzard* Heatwave is an airbender heating up the air and Blizzard is when airbenders cool down the air. This concept arises from waterbenders, how in the world they can turn water into ice in a matter of instance? Of course they can cool the temperature of it intentionally too, and I dont see any reason why Airbenders cant do that the same technique 🌬❄🔥

Wait. I know Aang taught Tenzin how to regulate his body temperature, as he was going to teach the new nomads but didn’t Aang learn how to freeze air from Katara? I see her doing that as often as I saw Aang do it. He may also have learned the same thing for heat from Zuko as he also used heat breath to not freeze when he swam into the North Pole capital.

WHAT IF on the new series, Air nation would be the new menace? We had already seen the other nations starting the war and the air nation hasn't yet. It would be so cool to imagine that they would be assassins who kills you in a minute without you noticing.

If you think about it, airbenders can soundbend, cause sound is just a vibration of air

Or even forget the theoretical. We have seen Aang air boost up the wall of Ba Sing Se. Just give a platoon of Airbenders a bunch of spears. The long range of the spear is like 328 feet/100 meters and the more manageable is 65 feet/20 meters. So how far could an Airbender fling just basic spear? Aang air boosted like 1/2 way up the Ba Sing Se wall so that’s a almost a teenager’s full weight around 50 meters. Now have twenty to thirty benders flinging spears around 2/3 of a mile away or nearly a full kilometer.

I can also see the opposite; instead of channeling heat away from a person they could raise the temperature, effectively cooking the person to death. Imagine having the air in your lungs super-heated. Not only would that burn your lungs and throat, but the gas would expand as hot air is less dense than cool air. So your lungs would be ripped apart from withing.

In theory any bender could use it with the right medium. Waterbenders contracting or expanding the water around an opponent, earth benders by contracting or expanding minute amounts of dirt around an opponent, and firebebders by stopping or intensifying the chemical reactions around an opponent

i just went down a rabbit hole of thoughts, so what elements do the benders control? if air benders are able to bend oxygen, then wouldnt they be able to bend rusted objects or remove the rust from objects?

Can the other elements manipulate temperature as well? Like water benders can freeze water so can they also boil it? And can earth bender heat up rock until it becomes magma?

Not sure about water benders being able to heat up water. Thereotically all they’d have to do is increase the speed at which molecules vibrate in order to generate heat. However, earth benders have a rare ability called lava bending so that part is cannon. Just not sure about the water bending being able to heat up though.

If they can take air out They can put it in If I had to, I would burst the evil guys lungs.

Great idea but I believe you're looking at it from a personality point of view. Think about it this way Ying and Yang had to be two seperate entities to co-exist and bring balance. Same with Vaatu and Raava. Each spirit needs a singular form of energy hence why they are always separated. Having two spirits with seperate entities inside you means you'd have to have two bodies...if that makes sense?

there's a very fine balance of roughly 30f that our body needs to stay in or we die. To op.

This one doesn't seem very plausible to me in the mechanics. Increased air pressure could lead to higher temperatures and lower to lower temperature. But isn't it true that even if you fully evacuated the air from a space, 0 atm perfect vaccuum, anything radiating heat around you including the sun can still warm you? I wouldn't think things would just start violently freezing. And high pressure would probably burst your eardrums or crush you before burning you.

From the moment I learned airbenders have temples was the moment I knew, they're NOT actually, nomads. Never in ATLAB do you see airbenders just wandering around, or begging for their food.

Airbender to Fire nation: Am I moving to fast for you? Let me slow it down for you " *Proceeds to absolute cold removing all air*😂 The opposite can be true too. "That's your fire? Let me show you a proper fire" *Heats up the air to 2000 celcius and goes boom* 😂

Theoretically they could raise the body temperature of another person too and incinerate them.

So airbenders could theoretically compress air so much the could make bombs. If you couple that with some type of strong metal tube and put say a round lead ball in that tube…?

If they compress the air, they can cut any user and things like butter, they just don't develop this ability for the one shot.

since they control the air aroud them why cant they fly? same goes for strom from the xmen and she can fly. just sayin..also i dont like the color on their new suits. why on earth did they make them red?? i get the yellow color is connected with the air element .

airbenders can fly like superman style but it is a sub tier of airbending which makes it really rare. Like metal bending with earth benders or lightning bending with fire benders, flight just isn't as common and also because it has some conditions. Having no earthly attatchments and becoming one with the wind, i think the trick here is controlling every bits of air in the body to make them lightweight enough to be carried by wind and doing it constantly will take if not a 100% of focus and the will to do it.

Wooooooow very fancy! Or, just shove a ton of air into someone's lungs and they'll pop. Effortless instant kill.

In Avatar fanon there is a dark form of airbending of Animal Manipulation. To influence the actions and emotions of animals, prohaps even humans. It may not seem like a sub-elemental based power, but that's what I found.

Um.. not terrifying at all compared to literally what any element can do i.e. instant chop / blow / slice off a leg, let alone waiting for them to compress the air to lower body tenperature while the oponent meeds to stand still for a long time waiting for legs to freeze.
