Love this slowly developing Nextbot AI. I think the next logical step is to alter the behavior of the Nextbot when it becomes stuck or trapped to fix the jank, and then slowly hone the bot’s behaviors to become more and more complex.

Isn’t the whole nextbot design based on Valve’s Navmesh design? Left 4 Dead fixes the stuck issue by teleporting a stuck bot to the nearest player on their respective team. I could imagine an invisible nextbot that does nothing but accompany the actual nextbot within a certain radius, so it always has a (dynamic) point to teleport to if it gets stuck.

See, i get that these stalking nextbots are scary, but i think there's a way to make an even scarier and more terrifying concept for a nextbot. How about a nextbot that blends into a crowd and pretends to be nice at first, but then it switches up on you when you least expect it. Imagine a nextbot that summons, let's say 10 copies of itself that all look identical to each other. 9 of those copies are docile, they only stalk around the player and nothing else. 1 of those copies though will pretend to be docile as well, but after spotting the player for a few seconds, it suddenly changes its appearance to be scarier and starts becoming hostile and aggressive, and the worst part about it is that the player couldn't differentiate the impostor of the group... until it's too late. I'm not a programmer myself, but I really want one to try and make a nextbot something like this. I think it would be absolutely terrifying.

On Thoelian's video with the normal Gargitron, his game sometimes lagged on big maps whenever Gargitron teleported. Im assuming it's the Metro map being too big here.

Its probably the navmesh being too big, the bot teleports away to a random location so it probably takes a while to calculate pathings after teleporting

I played Russian RP servers on this map, feels sooo damn scary seeing it all so fkin empty when I only seen it before with 100 people on it with every single place being very lively

I've played around with this nextbot and I've discovered that the speed when in it's hide-chase mode is about 60-66km/h, while on rage mode (the part where it screams), the speed doubles that at 120-130km/h, however it can only achieve that in the straight line, this nextbot (and all nextbots for that matter) turns like fighter jets, as in they don't "brake" to change directions, they just brute force their way to turn, kind of like drifting a car, so one way I've found to survive a nearby nextbot is to turn to them and literally run circles around them while jumping around, this makes the nextbot having to constantly trying to change directions thus decreasing it's momentum, then when the nextbot is slow enough, run away as fast as you can while b-hopping, this is what I call the "dance with the angels" method but it doesn't necessarily work on all nextbots, you also needed some space to do this

Its an improved version of gargitron 1. Ambushing. It will turn all sounds off and wait for the player When it sees the player it will chase it 2. Rage. When you escape it's chase 3 times it will enter rage mode It will play the nun massacre sound and accelerate fast and be fast

I think I prefer Gargitron over this one, Terminus is a little too in your face with it overly creepy face and rage mode I prefer Gargitron simply unnerving face that makes it more mysterious which match up with it gameplay of never really being sure of what it thinking, though like I said it just a prefer of my I like more subtle horror

The scariest part of this is the sound it makes when it gets closer.

Nextbots are great, but I know what would make them infinitely more scarier. Nextbots that go out of their way to fuck with your game. Artificial lag spikes, hangs, and other 'glitches'. Just imagine being chased by one of these things and the game starts hitching up.
