I was worried that this book would take a long time to get through just looking at the page count, but I flew through it in less than a week! The middle section of Helen's backstory/diary was a little slow/long for me, but otherwise I loved it.

I am glad you were able to easily fly through the book. I agree that Gilbert is such a flawed and annoying character :P Sometimes I laughed while reading too because the wording or the sass was so on point. I like seeing characters growing through relationships as well. The assault cemented my dislike of Gilbert. I found Millicent's story so heartbreaking especially, because she thought she had said no politely but apparently it was yes? And then she was so stuck. To be honest while reading I was kind of wishing we were getting Millie's story all along in novel form because I really liked her character and her story had similar themes and concepts, and I think I liked her romance / outcome more. I agree with even though I thought it was just an okay read, I appreciate it for its themes and messages especially within time period context, but also still in present day too.

I'm still reading this book, apparently it takes me a lot more time that I thought it would. I like the book when I'm reading it. But I'm reading this book in English and that's not my mother tongue. And the English in this particular book is different from the modern-style English language and the sentences are often pretty long so I'm reading the book slower than usual. I feel bad when I still haven't finish it, I'm kinda becoming tired of watching the unfinished book on my nightstand haha. Of course I would read it in Finnish since it's translated but I want to read it in its original language. And the English copys of the book are so much prettier! But I will finish it, eventually, because I'm enjoying the book and want to know how it ends!

I absolutely adore this video (☆▽☆) everything you conveyed, your thoughts, opinions etc i agree with everyone. I do think it's a very powerful book to see certain red flags and avoid toxicity x.x it really is awful to read about certain things u.u but she did a great job portraying that atmosphere and I do believe she wrote about this topic in order for us to be aware of certain things.. I hate how toxic he is and how he treats her like seriously 😡 Loved this video so much ✨ I hope you are doing great Mary 🌸 have a wonderful day

Judging by Gilbert, it seems like he has what we in the modern times call “fragile masculinity”. If he is not confident in himself to be in a relationship and to trust Helen then honestly he should just not…like, just not.
