The Technical Genius That Changed The Marvel Meta

Ойындар

MarlinPie has always been a technical genius and an execution god. After many attempts and tries, MarlinPie finally got a TAC infinite in tournament. This is the story of the match that changed the Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 meta forever

As someone who watched a lot of Marvel 3 in it's prime I never fully grasped how TAC infinites worked, but seeing it laid out like this really helped. The part with jumping just as you hit the ground is very similar to Alpha 3 crouch cancel combos and knowing how rough those are playing A3 so much, this really gave me a whole new level of respect for the shit I'd see these dudes pull off so effortlessly. Great video man!

@@marcisarn2365that's how you initiate the tac to begin with. When you press s and a direction to tag in your other character in the air your opponent can guess what direction you used and if guessed right they stop the combo. That has nothing to do with the infinite though since that takes place after you successfully air tag your second character in

MVC3 history: Doomface is the one who started Doom TACS in the first place. Even Marlin can attest to this as he was inspired and evolved the TAC game much further and did them in tournament for the world to see. Marlin then became a pioneer and came up with with his own tech like "Follow my lead." and new setups for years to come. They both deserve recognition.

Very interesting history lesson and deep analysis on mechanics of umvc3. I enjoyed your video a lot. Just to clarify something that would've been worth mentioning on the video. The TAC infinite was discovered by a player named JosixOverlord with Trish as he posted it in his first video, with the easiest to perform down tac infinite. Then he uploaded a side infinite with Trish too. After his discovery his video blew up just weeks before evo 2012 so people had little time to implement the tac infinite, let alone experiment with their character. As you mentioned on the video, Sentinel was one who could use that infinite reliably (more so than trish). Since the video is already done and the algorithm did its thing, maybe you can credit him in the description. Great content overall.

Fun fact, the TAC infinite glitch and some other glitches that are now used at high level play were 1st discovered/documented by AgeJoe/Kusoru. He uploaded a video on youtube/nico nico explaining them, and that video was submitted to the SRK staf that ran the front page, so they posted an article with the translation. How do I know? I was the one that provided the link to SRK since I followed him for his GG videos and at the time I thought it could be interesting for tech (little did I know it would be the tech, lol), so I contacted d3v on the forums since he was part of the staff/mod team. This was even before Marlinpie's showcase of the glitch. I don't know if Marlinpie learned about the glitch all by himself, or he learned it from SRK (he was active on SRK at the time) or due Kusoru (he already followed him at the time, since he is a GG player before playing mvc3), but I know if it was the later, he expanded on it, since when Kusoru showcaded it, he showed some infinite combos with Sentinel and I think Doom?
