Carol, I am loving this journal! This set of shabby photos is the very first kit I got of Sam’s and it will always be one of my very favorites! It’s looking beautiful! I love your use of the boxes! Carol I took a permanent marker and went down the center of my score board so I could line my score lines up with the dark line. Give that a try and see if it helps. I get overwhelmed with tons of stuff surrounding me too! You’re not alone girl😊

A great idea showcasing those boxes Carol. They look amazing. They would be great as a gift filled with embroidery silks etc for someone who loves sewing. Love the journal so far. Original hard book covers are my favourite for journals.

I remember when I was younger, the embroidery threads came in the boxes, wish I could find them! I do love old book covers x

I, too, struggled with the scoreboard alignment, so I used a thin black felt tip pen and carefully drew a line all the way down at 3”, 6”, and 9”. Works great. 😊

The cover is so perfect for kits you’re using. I like the boxes and they’ll be a fun way to control the clutter. The pictures on the first of each signature are adorable with the snippets of lace. It’s going to be a great journal.

I never tire of Sam’s haberdashery kits. So glad to hear I’m the only one who struggles with the scoreboard. I’ve always got a few wonky lines😂 The blue papers scattered throughout is a great touch. Well done 👍🏼🩵 The notches on box top edges were a great idea, thank you.

That anxiety you describe is just such an accurate description of how I feel when I’ve assembled all I need and then get the heebie-jeebies about where to start! I’m not happy that someone else feels it but I know now I’m not loosing my marbles. Your project is really beautiful though and I love seeing you have inspirations and getting the designs spot-on!

This is amazing Carol! I love the signature fronts you have put together. As for the boxes, they are amazing and I’m like you, where I’m totally overwhelmed with the whole kit cut out in front of me! I can see the boxes would really help. I suppose you could cover them and use for other journal kit left overs, so they could be stacked and stored easily. Definitely getting the boxes! I’m just starting a sewing journal too, so might have to get this kit as it’s very pretty. Ty for sharing your ideas Carol……. ❤

Beautiful papers! Sam always has unique ones. I need to learn how to resize papers for smaller book covers, I have a few that are about the size you are using. I always have trouble getting started, too! I don’t want to make a mistake and have to do things over, again. It’s silly because it’s supposed to be fun to make and it’s paper we can print again. I love what you’re doing with the front pages of each signature! Hugs, Carol❤

When I click print, I have options, full size, 2 or 4 to a page, and so on, so it was a bit of trial and error! I think the size I finally used was something like 8" x 10" (ish) xx

Carol, I've only watched a little of your video so far and I have to say I'm in awe! I love the pages you're using and the fabric that you're planning to use on the outside is also gorgeous! If you haven't heard of it, you might take a quick look through "The Workwoman's Guide" published in 1838. Fun, educational, and I would think a great reference and source of illustrations for this journal. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Carol, this is going to be another great journal. And I have the same anxiety when starting a new project., in fact I’m dealing with it currently. Kits printed out and I just sit and stare and don’t know where to begin, Urgh. But as we all know once you start it “usually” begins to flow along. Thanks Carol for another great video ❤

To answer your question about the brown spots on paper, it's what's called 'foxing': “Foxing” is a generic term used to describe a range of deterioration mechanisms in paper and photographic documents - the thing they have in common is that they all tend to appear as small brown spots.

Carol I love your videos. I have the same score board and I saw on Scrapbooking with me, she drew a line in the middle line with a black sharpie (I used fine point) and it has helped me so much. All you have to do is line it up. I was having the same problem as you. Keep up the great work.

❤ lovely video Carol I have found I get that same kind of frustration when I start a new Journal. I collect all kinds of bits and Bobs and paper and put them in a document folder envelope and when I go to start the journal then I have all this stuff. So I have flat trays that are different sizes and I put large pieces in the large one medium in the medium and small in the small you get the idea they are sitting beside me on my desk and they work like a charm. My biggest problem is cleaning up after I've made a mess does anyone else have that problem

I've never used digital downloads before. Can you print as many times as you like? How do you know what type, size, and weight of paper to print on?

Hi there, yes, they can be printed over again - the etsy sellers usually say for small commercial business. as for the paper you use, its really personal choice, I have printed on 80 gsm copy paper, but personally prefer 120gsm , but its personal preference. the kits size depends on where the designers from - so Sam is in the UK, so her papers are A4, USA designers are US letter size - but both work fine. hope this helps x
