Because a lot dumbasses have seen the work of professional cgi artists and think they are qualified to rate this video on a high level basis, despite the fact they would never be ablte to do this, not to mention that they have zero experience with the appropriate software. Well to be honest, compared to other works this video is really not that special, BUT still good for a beginner und surely not something that deserves downvotes. Does it deserve upvotes by implication ? Thats another story... What matters is that the creator is on a good way and should keep up the effort to improve his skill step by step.

well the software/engine looks very outdated, smth like this ud expect 8-10 years ago even with the better textures.... and prop. would have about no dislikes if it was made back then. but nowadays its just meh, u dont just simply bring cars from early 19-hundreds to drive today:D newer software isnt particularly more complicated or hard to learn/execute either (more like the opposite)

Stardust This ignorance is exaclty the reason why he gets unecessary downvotes. First, the animation was done with an up to date 3D-Software. You don't get better results just by using the newest software, its like painting, the more skill you have the better it looks (And it looks old fashioned because he is a beginner und doesn't know how to use blender features to their fullest, check other blender works if you don't trust my words). Second, get a better understanding what the term "engine" means and in which context it is used.

Project Levy Delta oh u can compare everything from air to mythologies... but how good a comparison always depends on what's u comparing upon an (a lot)older car is both harder to maintain and use aswell as less efficient compared to anything made today.. so why can't it be applied to older software?

WudyIncognito well the 'second' part is self-explanatory as u can Google this part urself to check why I used it in the right context.. but hey, all people are ignorant. he shouldn't be invulnerable to inexperienced negative critique and without being called an ignorant(cuz it's offending:( ) and did i address sound aswell as his overall work?

the animation is great, but the complete lack of physics is ruining it.... i know it's insanely hard but give it a try, try making the tank suspension work when it shots, lift up a dust cloud from the ground, those small things will help a lot the quality of your animations, but great job for a first try.

Very impressive model work on the Siege Tank. Although I was expecting it to level a horde of zerglings instead of a Tunguska. Nice use of those Half Life sound clips as well.

4 years ago, this was in my recommended. When I saw this in my recommended today, my first thought was- "why dies this look familiar" About half-way through I realized I watched this back when it uploaded. An unexpected trip back down memory lane with one of the first videos I watched on KZread.

This sounds from Half-Life made me feel nostalgic :D Also, I think that StarCraft-1 sounds are way more expressive and reckognizable than from SC2

I liked the little details in the movie like the fade from "real view" to screen view on the siege tank monitor. The quality exceeds that of SCI by a long shot and if done with a team of artists to cover the minutiae could be turned into something in SCII. Very nice.

My favorite ground unit in SC. Great animation, thanks for this man!

As a star craft fan I can't wait to see this redone when you've advanced your skills!! But I have to say it's already bloody amazing and don't take this the wrong way there's always room for improvement!

Looks really cool! The style reminds me a lot of Thunderbirds, minus the strings and puppets.

I love this. But the thing that ruins it for me is the lack of impact that the tank has on the ground around it. The Siege Tank with its mighty Arc Cannon is one of the workhorses of nearly every Terran army. It's supposed to be visceral and satisfying, with a heavy kaboom and dust flying as the stabilizer pylons struggle to keep one of the most powerful land-based artillery weapons available to the Terrans in place. It just doesn't FEEL powerful. But the tank in, and of, itself is amazingly done and very lovingly crafted. You can really tell effort went into this and I hope to see more!

Really nice, just during shot, I'd expect suspension to move a bit :) You already have this part done. And at one moment you present turret in tank mode, while the tank is in siege mode.

Everything about this is awesome!

Love it, especially the peek inside the cockpit of that monster.

Really cool. There small issues with animation chain reaction.aside that really enjoyed.

Looks nice but a little too "toyey" if you know what I mean. Looks like it's made of plastic, not metal ! Great work any way :) Or maybe it's the tilt shift that you're using.

***** That's not how physics works. The body of the tank and it's legs do not just absorb the force of the blast, they transfer it into the ground. That's why old cannons would jump when fired, or roll backwards if they were on wheels. That's the force of the blast transferring through the cannon and burning off through movement. If this little video was more accurate you would see the entire tank shake when firing its main gun. That's not something that can be worked away by technology, it's just how physics is. A tank that fires its main gun and doesn't budge is either firing a bb gun or is so massive/dense that it would never be able to move under its own power.

That was pretty cool and I liked the style, but there was a very large wind up for this earth-shattering shot from the tank and then... Nothing. I found myself saying out-loud "that's it?" Nothing from the lower half of the tank, no movement on the ground, nothing, the barrel moves and then. Nothing. It was a huge build up to.

I don't understand the dislike... You guys know, this was was made by just a person and not a whole Blizzard graphics team. The artist tried to remain true to what a SC2 siege tank is. And added some minute details not available in game.

I am guessing that this animation have cost you a good deal of dedication, and probably a week of hard work. It have stand true to StarCraft cartoonish design and it is obvious you have spent a great time on the tank itself. But its opponent and the terrain seems a bit pale, compared to the "Arclite". Also if I might suggest, we all half expected the tank to be fighting Zerg, Xenomorphs ( as they were called in the demo), or at least Protoss. While the main canon is engaging big targets like Ultralisk, or Brutalisk, Reaver, Colossus, etc., the secondary weapons could shoot waves of Zerlings, or Zealots. Also, great choice for the board computer - I always had a soft spot for the Black Mesa announcement system. In short - great video. Also you got me on the floor laughing with the Polish banners on the turret. For a moment there, I thought I was playing World of Tanks again.

Nice animation, but I can't shake the feeling that I'm looking at a small toy or model instead of a full sized vehicle.

Little FAQ *why i don't see shell-and when did you see siege tank shells last time? It's even hard to see moder arty shells from close. *why there is no recoil--It's because tank has recoil suppressor each side. Indeed it may look cheap for some of you but it is intended;p hots siege has one big recoil suppressor. *this looks like toy, especially 2:18--yes its because blur effect. *why is it so static--low budget ;p many 2d/rendering tricks there, it would be hard to turn them 3d. I'm making second movie about wraith now, it will be more lets say... theatrical;p

This about the recoil part, it would've been better if the Tank moved a bit, I mean yes, they do have recoil suppressors but like all artillery pieces, there are a lot of movements there like the ground shake, the entire piece moving a bit. Just to make it a bit realistic, other than that it's an awesome clip :)))

in the future, there probably won't be recoil anymore since the firing mechanism is based on magnetic drive. Check future weapons firestorm & railgun, no recoil yet they pack more punching power

Just have to say this is an amazing animation. I think it would be awesome if you paired up with someone who liked to write and put together your own animated series (like carbot, but maybe better?) Either way, keep up the good work!
