Updating title/description to indicate Season 4, the tier set and entire class has remained COMPLETELY unchanged going into this patch. The only note is of course the gear section is a bit out of date - but also not really cuz the raid will rotate back around and also dawn of infinite still drops champion gear so it might be worth still getting cheat death/double time if you get it from m0. So just to be sure, if I’m at 4 souls and I accidentally hit fracture, I’ll soak 1 for a heal and be able to use 5 for spirit bomb, which isn’t ideal but isn’t a big deal either right?

Yea don’t worry about that 1 soul, you generally have WAY bigger problems than that. You can consume at 4 also, and you can technically consume when the 5th lands but the 6th is flying through the air - but I left this tip out of the video since each ability spawns souls at a different speed it’s actually a wizard-level min-max

Let me know what you think about the guide! I high key have no idea how to make a class guide, but I knew the spec and just decided to full send. First time making a tank-spec guide ever also, had to cut some of the more advanced stuff in favour of keeping the video at 30 mins. Which means there’s potential for a much shorter more advanced tips guide, but unfortunately means the VDH gigabrains among us will notice some imperfections 😢 might do blood dk next after I read comments and learn what to do better

That makes sense, can you give a timestamp of what area would benefit from icons? I do use the icons sometimes and where possible I put the icon in the tooltip overlays but I felt like using it every time gets redundant no?

Yo, this video helped me IMMENSELY. I started 1 week ago and was running the talent that makes Demon Spikes give high threat. After watching this I’m going to drop that and go the Frailty route. ABOUT TIME. ive been waiting for this guide. and it didnt dissapoint! I got my monk to 3075, and finding 24's to just be a pain in the ass because of a lack of utility. So I hard swapped to my DH, and spent the last week getting up to where my monk is. 484 ilvl, just under 3k, and have been doing 23-24's on fort. Just yesterday I looked at top end player builds because the basic one in all the other guides just wasnt jiving. the builds you showcased did a great job of explaining -why- you take them. This is the best class guide I've ever watched. Most guides read as if the narrator is just rehashing the Wowhead ability priority list and that is *never* helpful. If I want that, I can look at wowhead! What I always want is the how, why, and goals of the spec, which you delivered perfectly. Hey glad you enjoyed it! The gold armor is Fierce Gladiator Felskin Armor. With the gilded skull crescent from torghast. Sometimes I use it with pieces from the Burden of Unrelenting Justice trading post achievement set. There are 3 yellows weapons used throughout here: Whispering Temple Blade (new hd quelserrar), Thorncaller Claw (from Council of Dreams normal), and Hirukon's Radiant Reach (from the special-spawn Zereth Mortis rare). And i use them all with Light of the Earth Wanderer enchant hope this helps, have a good one :D

your interface is very clean, do you have a list of addons you use?

I love the guide, just geared up my DH yesterday, got 4p and ready to push. (guardian main) still some stuff I'm not that comfortable to do, as I'm with my bear. f.example the waycrest pull, after 2nd boss. Pulling the whole corridor outside. My bear can handle it , DH I felt really scared. Same as the 2nd pull after when you go into boss room and grab adds to go out. Felt it was not doable, maybe I'm playing it all wrong as well, as I'm really fresh to DH. Just so hit and miss when I survive and not, but as bear, well obviously, I know the class in and out, but DH, it's a slot machine for me haha..

For the courtyard pullout, don’t be afraid to hit the mobs while your gathering, like actually generate souls and spirit bomb, and use meta/feldev as usual, and make sure they have flame sigil debuff and also make sure you’re facing the mobs so you can parry. Silence sigil also does a lot of work on that hallway.

I would recommend gearing for havoc as it is much more enjoyable playing a dps spec you gear for than it would be playing havoc with vengeance stats. Also unless you’re pushing 26-27+ keys, your vengeance stats do not affect the outcome much if at all. Best of luck! I’ll be back with more guides in season 4

for almost all of this footage it was completely maxed out at 4k I think, except raytraced shadows off, and spells set to essential so you can see the mobs

Hey, returning Legion -> Shadowlands raid 1 vengeance player here. Some questions, we don't put a point in consume magic anymore? Did DF give more effect removal to other classes so we don't do it anymore? Or is it just to free up points elsewhere and not compete with the longer range for kick. Do you have felblade bound to a key? I didn't see it go on cooldown once during your vid so is it just a travel point? Is the glaive upgrade a better travel point in that case?

Consume magic and purges in general have lower value this dungeon rotation, there aren't any key-breaking buffs until you get MUUUUUUCH higher in key level to the bleeding edge. But even then, the optimal strat is a spellsteal, no mob buffs should be impactful enough in

The A D spam you do is actually really troll, might not seem like it but some mobs can do micro movements, it also turn the mobs in melee making it harder to predict how the tank will move

I pay considerably more attention to mob positioning than you may think. It's completely inconsequential unless you're tanking mobs with predictive movement. Mobs/bosses that have predictive movement are intentionally made that way by the devs and it isn't something that will randomly happen so it comes down to a knowledge-check.

im a bit conflicted as to y ur saying mastery is last to stack. i could be wrong, but form my understanding, AP = u hit harder. is it not a good idea for a tank to hit hard? and armor = the less ive gotta rely on healz. the more armor the less mobs can hit me for. correct? myself, personally i run a haste, mast, crit build. rarely do i ever die, and i do, its bc i got cocky and overpulled. I've tried the build ur showing, for me it makes me a squishy tank. ya i'll have higher deeps, but if i que as tank, then there r 3 other people that should b worrying about deeps, not me. I must say, i havent tried ur crit>haste>vers>mast build yet against the WB in the emerald, soloing it. for the past 3 or 4 weeks ive got zero issues with soloing the WB with a haste>mast>crit build and never once did i drop below 80% hp. lol i may have to edit this (havent logged on yet today) but im pretty sure unbuffed ive got 31-32%% haste, 30-31% mast, 25-26% crit, 10-11% vert. roughly a 470ilvl, just a tad under 1.3m hp non-demon form. yes i'm aware that ur video is for +keys. it's just ur not the only one that has mentioned stacking mast last. to me its confusing to stack it last, vers i could understand for a DH, our self healing is totally insane, but with mastery thats our armor and attack. also i have tanked keys with my current build, with no complaints. is it the dps factor ur build focuses on? Honestly im not tryin to b a d*ck dude, i'm just curious.

Remember that 1 stat in mastery is 1 stat that could be into one of the others. Mastery gives armor as a function of agility, and it gives attack power at 66% of that value. The value in mastery is spike tankiness, but in keys you’re not in spikes all the time and mobs don’t do just melee damage. Compare that to vers which will have value the entire time - spikes or not and with magic damage. And crit which will increase damage and also parry by the same number value. Haste ofc gives you some spell cooldown but more important speeds up your tick rates, meaning more souls, more tierset procs, more fury and more sigils. Mastery isn’t bad, it’s just that stacking mastery has to come from some other stat cuz every mastery piece could be a piece of gear with another stat. High mastery might make you feel safer but eventually you’ll get to a point where as soon as spikes drops and you lose that tankiness you insta die. Until you get to that point it doesn’t matter, tank stats are mostly irrelevant until it’s causing a problem anyway s

im looking at my damage in 15-18 keys. top dmg is: soul cleave ~17%, sigil of flame ~12%, fel devestation ~10%. my sigil dmg is very low compared to your charts.

@@notSachy I have 4pc. I just looked at the damage sources again. When the instant is added to the dot, it was actually ~20%, which is more in line with your numbers, but still a but shirt. Moar sigils... but thanks again for this video

Technically it’s bad, cuz u might consume souls accidentally but if you have enough confidence in your gameplay then you can do it without any consequence to yourself or your group. But yea it’s just like a fidget thing.

The little back and forth dance that you describe is also very useful to straight up completely dodge melee attacks, thats why you see Naowh backpedaling around the pack very often, he explained it himself, some VDHs like me do it cuz ADHD, but there’s legit benefits too 😂

Nice guide. But as feedback, it would be nice to have icons blend in when you talk about rotation. For ppl who play in other languages then English, it's hard to follow. At least in my opinion

Running too often for the cheat death trinket, never dropped. Neither in the run nor in the chest, so I'm literally forced to use the talents to cheat death. But there also some other nice trinkets. Like the one from Evergreen (my pala tank has it and it does a up to 5% of my dmg, assuming with Venegence even performing better). Also, the trinket which can silence a caster can make you the ultimate anti-caster tank.

Just dont use any cheat death until you get the trinket? I feel like the talent investment to get it in the tree would make you less defensive overall, so you're shooting yourself in the foot going for the talent.

Soul Cleave is capped at 5 targets, not uncapped. Unless i have missed an update on it.

yea you're right, i misspoke unluckily. said it was uncapped then said you need a 3-5 target route for it to be worth playing the build lmao. @@notSachy Np at all man. Ive been wishing they change SC for so long. They need to make it soft capped at 5 targets. I dont like playing Spirit Bomb. Been using only SC build whole of DF. Used it in Shadowlands aswell, worked wonders. As you said, its a much more chill playstyle, which i prefer. Great video!

Probably blood DK right now - with legendary. Can very simply do 130-150k. Maybe VDH can do competitive but I haven’t played VDH in raid and also VDH loses damage when they get hit, but bdk does more damage when they get hit.

Atomic Recalibrator toy! turns you into a random race, u just gotta step on/off a bunch until you get tauren, can buy on the AH, 12 hour cooldown tho - 1 hour duration. Hopefully 1 minute reply wasn't too slow xD

Happy Easter! Super high keys are VERY different. The build I show at the very end is probably what they’re running I’d assume? The guys doing 30+ keys right now are on another level of cracked that I don’t even pretend to understand. But generally in my opinion, not running spirit bomb is the play in certain dungeons and certain weeks and especially certain routes - make sure you have good context for builds you’re looking up to get a better understanding of why they’re doing what they do.
