French tanks in april 1940 could have sent the axis forces home in body bags, but the french soldiers did not get to choose where to deploy them, crusty old men stuck in the past did. The Oldest tank france had in service in april 1940, the FT17 could KO germany's small tank, the PZI and yet was totally impervious to it, and germany sent a lot of those through the Ardennes. The B1 bis was virtually untouchable, the S35 was fast and outgunned most of what germany had, the R35 was completely capable of decimating the PZI and PZII which was the lions share of germany's tanks France had way more infantry troops than germany did, but the troops didnt get to pick where and how to deploy themselves French soldiers did not pick to surrender, and many did not, the same guys who screwed the soldiers in the 1st place did that all by them selves. And French soldiers did not quit fighting, they continued fighting for the entire war, both outside the country and in the underground and even landed on the beaches on D Day. And de Gaulle never surrendered, ever. Lets maybe do some 7th grade history studies before we go flapping our lips perhaps

@@d.i.l.l.i.g.a.f He ran after a cyclist after some outsider forgot to close the gate and got hit by a car. That's why Luca has a perimeter collar. I wouldn't worry to much about Luca though, she always keeps clear enough of the vehicles and Emile is very careful.

Ok, tracks on a car it's done, now do car wheels on a tank! Also, an automatic car should be perfect for tracks, no clutch to work with.

automatic gearboxes also use clutches to engage/disengage different gears. you'll burn them up in no time too, i think.

​@@gydo1942 The torque converter would take most of the stress, not the clutches. It would still dump a ton of heat, but he could plumb a bigger cooler to it and keep the temps under control somewhat. Ultimately though what it needs is more gear reduction between the trans and the tracks. Get that right and the clutch would be fine.

@@gydo1942 those clutches are used for going between different gears they take the most wear when going between neutral and in gear, especially if you are at high revs , which is called a neutral drop But once a automatic is in gear, it will be fine, there will be no wear to the clutch when stopped + moving away like in a manual car etc Instead, that wear is taken by the torque converter

That and an automatic front wheel or rear wheel drive car would work. 2 brakes for right and left would work just fine. That is pretty much how tractors work right and left brake or all at once. The clutch should work just as well. Except I suppect that the brakes are a bit worn on this thing anyways. I would lock the brake then put it in first and make the turn. Parking brake for each side might even work just as good as well. Many old snow machines work on the brake function.

@@kameljoe21 modern "things" of this sort use some kind of clutch package, one per side :) Yes Tractors have that kind of brake system :) 2 pedals :)

@@SumUnicus modern things use hydrostatic drive for these things. All tractors, zero turn mowers and heavy equipment uses something along this line. Clutches are out dated for something along this line. The older and still used Snow cats used a massive diff rear end that had massive brakes installed and to turn one would apply the brakes to one side. There is also a form of pulleys and belts that some super old skidsteers used as well. Very complicated. Using 2 brake systems along with an automatic will allow the wheels to keep spinning or moving the one track. Parking brakes would also work if set up with 2 handles and could apply the brake much harder and faster. The other problem could be the Anti lock part of the brake system too.

Surprised the Fire Service didn't turn up with all that smoke.

Maybe find a small diesel truck with a transfer case (so you have a lower gear ratio/low range) and put a car body on the truck frame. The tracked concept has now been proven to work, just need to make a few more mods for perfection. Or make a nearly circular track frame so the tracks basically resemble a large wheel, then chop 1.5 meters out of the middle of the car body...what would that do?!

@@chrismechanic2000 That is the point of op's comment.. put another transmission or such gear reduction after primary one to take the load off from the main gearbox and clutch. Also why they didnt just replum the brakes to one and another side for steering and use two brake assists...

Don't just change gearbox that's boooring Take out the engine, and put it back in sideways !! Then use two rear axles of RWD cars, and the outputs of the fwd gearbox and engine will drive those then there will be a large gear reduction, but also, 4WD!

Put a torsion tube traverse across the car body, with trailing offset torsion arms or the idler wheels, you could go back to 4 idlers like that with 2 torsion tubes, and the car would sit level rather than teeter totter and the tracks could move freely going over obstacles Ditch the tires and on front and rear and fab up a couple drive sprockets for the front and something more rigid for the rear Ditch the tie rods for a heavy fixed link bar to reduce deflection Rip out the gas brake and clutch pedals, and put in 2 single circuit brake master cylinders with 2 pedals for track brakes Rip out the transmission and put it in the dumpster. Fab up some pieces to mount a heavy hydraulic pump directly to the motor in place of the transmission. Install 2 hydraulic drive motors, one for each front wheel, put each one on its own control valve SO you have forward reverse and normal turning in your hands, and pivot turning at your feel Put the throttle on a hand control, set and forget kind of thing as you wont have to mess with it terribly much Dont know that the car is worth that much effort, but it should work fairly well Then swap out the pseudo turret for an offset passenger side hand rotating turret, and put a water cannon in it, or a paintball cannon

You need to take out the engine, and put it back in longitudinally! Then you can have the FWD gearbox sending power to front and rear Then use two rear axle from RWD cars, and feed their differential with that left and right half shafts from the fwd gearbox :) Then you will have 4WD, and also, much lower gear ratios, so he does not stall when turning

Think I threw this comment in. But the master for one half of the car and have a drift master cylinder for the other half for braking based turning, but also after seeing this double up the suspension front and back so you got less teeter totter. Amazing work no less. You fuckers need a metal!

Ik zou het best wel leuk vinden als jullie zo'n creatie eens ter keuring aan zouden bieden, helemaal natuurlijk als het goedgekeurd zou worden door een maas in de wet! Misschien ook leuk, wat is het meest extreme wat je door de keuring heen zou krijgen? Want zijn rupsbanden überhaupt verboden, of zou het gewoon kunnen?

I just asked myself if a good old automatic gearbox with torque converter would work better. You could also bring the vehicle to your next Renault dealer. At least Renault built tanks in the past, so it would be a shame if they weren't familiar with it.

im not understanding how adding a pivot makes for "steering" untill you can independently power each track in either direction you dont have steering... only easyish way i can see you doing that would be using a 4wd transfer case and instead of having 2wd and 4wd you have left and right but its still an engineering nightmare as i see it. thanks for the vids

Goed bezig. Ik had een vraagje, kan je een keer een filmpje maken over hoe je een dynamo moet polariseren? Ik heb een oude trekker alleen de accu laad niet meer bij.

Instead of the normal: front brakes being independent from the rear brakes, the left side brakes have to be independent from the right's. Eliminate dual master cylinder and go with two clutch mater cylinders using a Milo patented linkage system:D

Hey, Milo. I'm not sure if you noticed, but there were some kind of furry little thing running around there. You should try not to hit it while you're driving. Or else you'd have to wash your car. And if you're really unlucky, bits of it might get stuck in the fan or something. That's not fun. I know from experience. Takes a lot of cleaning to get out. Better safe than sorry.
