Hi Bob, hope you and the family are well. Thank you for watching and the great encouragement. The inside of the cab was a real test indeed. I was determined though to get everything in. Tamiya say you have to remove the seats and dashboard to fit the MFC-03 unit, but then that would leave the cab empty. That’s not what I wanted. So, I set about making a slight change and routing of the cabling so it all goes into the cab. I’ve also soldered in ‘Y’ joints for the rear indicators and rear lights, so that the trailer lights will work too. Would I do another…..yes please. Loved every second. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😉😊😉

Hi there Craig, this has been a really enjoyable build indeed. I’m so, so lucky to have been gifted such a great model. Thank you for your kind words about the painting. The painting took absolutely ages to do, I suppose I should have waited for some warmer weather to paint it outside. But I had my trusty, years and years old heat gun to hand, to help heat the home made spray booth, so that I could paint the truck components, and there is a lot of them 🤯. I used some expandable sleeving to loom the cabling, there is again a ton of cables to hide under the cab and even though Tamiya said that you had to remove the seats and dashboard, if you want to use the MFC-03 unit, I was determined to have everything inside the cab 😉😊 that’s my Taurean stubborn streak in me 😁😁. I will be doing a running video of the truck and trailer soon, now that the weather is improving and work (I.e 3 x storm claims) are starting to reduce, I’m hoping to get a bit more me time 😁😉😊. Take care and best wishes to you and the family.

Great video John, your truck is going straight forward. I was a little bit shocked as I saw the screws of the rod mounting on the outside of the door. Hadn't Tamiya find a hetter solution to let the screws stay on the inside of the cab? Maybe behind the front grill or under the seats? These semi's aren't cheap. You made a great model. Thanks for showing its functions💪👍👏👏👏

  • @JF-RC

Hi there and thank you for watching. Yeah I was thinking the same thing, the seats and dashboard are screwed from the front also, but the front grill hides them, but the side screws, really they could have moulded a screw mound inside. Hey, it is what it is. I might look at dabbing some red paint on them to take your eye off the screw heads. Really has been a great truck though, I’ve really enjoyed building this one. Take care and best wishes 😉😊😉

Hi Peter and thank you for watching. Thank you for the kind words. The wiring is quite straightforward, just a lot of the twisted pairs to accommodate under the driver, dashboard and seats. Tamiya were saying that you had to remove these items, but with a little bit of thought, I’ve managed to keep the driver, seats and dashboard, as well as placing the MFC-03 unit in there too. Hi Pete and thank you for watching my video. Oh yes, you’re absolutely right, the MFC-03 unit is a really magical piece of kit. And your absolutely right it is enormous! I’ve purchased a couple of shelving racks from Screwfix, that I’ve put side by side and the truck cab and trailer actually takes up both of these units side by side and only just fits too 😁😁. I’m so, so lucky to have been gifted this great Tamiya kit by Sir RC Elf, I’ve loved every second of the build. I’ve managed to do the trailer, and I’ve made a wiring loom that runs all the way to the cab, via a PS2 style connector, so that the trailer lights work in unison with the cab lights. Hope you’re getting some RC time too and best wishes to you and the family 😊😉😊

Hi Addam and thank you for watching and kind words of approval. I was determined to get everything in the cab. Couldn’t understand why Tamiya say you have to sacrifice the seats and dashboard for the MFC unit. I wasn’t having that. My solution was so simple. Most of the wiring is under the dashboard. I’ve soldered in some ‘Y’ joints into the rear lights and rear indicators ports, ready for the trailer. I’ve got to get some time to run the truck and show everyone, been catching up on work, due to the 3 consecutive storms, that created home claims. I’ll get there. Hi there Jerry, thank you for watching, I appreciate you stopping by. I didn’t install the vibration unit in mine, I needed the space for the MFC-03 unit and the driver and seat, so sacrificed the vibration unit. It’s not a very difficult unit to install, it’s a case attaching the counter weight to the vibration unit, and installing the the unit on the main tray, connecting to the port of the MFC-03 unit. But you might want the driver and seats for the look instead of the vibrator 😉😊

Oh yes, well, the vibration unit was sacrificed for the installation of the MFC-03 unit, as I wanted the driver, seats and dashboard in as well.
